I love how Jared and his team took the time to set up all these cymbals for an 8 min video. This is really professional, I love it
+1bcan And how he hit a total of 4 of them.
a 4 piece kit with additional 25 cymbals
+Chad Ludwick normal lol
Yea i think this is going a bit overboard.
Lol
Just a few.... ;)
Forget this base drum, give me a double cymbal kick
When cymbals go on sale
God damn🤣🤣🤣
The first second of black Friday 😳
Lol
@@jakepope4056 KING JESUS IS THE BEST ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS LORD JESUS COME INTO MY HEART AND HE WILL IF YOU MEANT IT 🙏
I would rather have one good high quality cymbal than 25 pst 5's
lol.... yessssss
Travis Lloyd straight UPPP !
you mean like shitty stainless steel ones which sounds like your hitting a trash can?
PST5'S are really good cymbals. There are better, yes...but they are a really good quality cymbals for the price you pay for them and it's awesome for new drummers.
punkabeza I won't call them bad cymbals, but the sound does not float my boat, nor tickle my fancy.
He needs a few more cymbals.
+Çŏsa ŊosŧЯǺ Preferably some more 16 inch crashes.
+Mungebimp13
And preferably Paiste pst5.
Also, I'll add one more thing about the cymbal sound... These are the entry level Paiste cymbals. for their price they're great. But don't expect them to sound like a Paiste Signature cymbal. Since I play higher end cymbals, I'm planning on making a stacker out of one of them which sounds awesome! The cymbals are great for someone just starting out who needs a second crash, or you can give it to someone for Christmas if you like.
- Jared Falk
he needs more cowbell
I would have loved to see Jared hit all the cymbals like a maniac!
😮
What I learned in this video: My kit is lacking an additional 38 cymbals.
Need one more cymbal that sounds just like the rest.
When I first started playing drums not long ago, I never thought I could play well. I sucked. I couldn't keep time, my fills were horrible, not to mention double bass and the rest. I never got a drum teacher cause I wanted to learn how to play on my own. When I stumbled upon your videos , I loved it instantly. Simple lessons, explained in a nice and easy way. Thanks to you Jared I learned how to play drums just by watching your videos. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making it free.
He wasn't using the technique at the beginning of the video...........
Caught lackinnnnn
You right
He was teaching you how NOT to do it ;)
Damn I have never seen so many cymbols in my entire life
Cymbals*
I've been playing for a long time but I love to watch your videos because I still learn a lot and you are such an awesome drummer. Keep it up man
Thank so much Jared!!! Your lessons and tips are soooooo helpfull!!!
God bless you man, peace!
Thanks for the awesome lesson today! Thanks Drumeo!
Inspirational and educational. Thank You!!!
2:04 to 2:09 look at that flex.
Marshmallows, yes. I've always thought of mallets like that :)
You're doing a great job Jared! Keep it up :)
I got the zildjian a391 box set. I already did this a little bit but now im trying to do these techniques as much as possible because it was a large investment. I made a mental note to always hit inward. So if im striking with my left hand it moves from.left to right and if im striking with right, right to left. And i looove the ride cymbal. Ive never had a ride that lush and crashable before i had a vintage pre logo stamped zil ride that was awedome very pingy and lots of cut, but not what i looking for. The 21 sweet ride is so much better. Its definitely sweet
largest collection of 16" crashes lol
Before you all go crazy on my saying "oh my those cymbals all sound the same!!!" PLEASE DON'T. We're giving 500 cymbals away with annual Drumeo memberships so prior to shipping them out to the lucky students, we set them up. You all know that you'd do the same if you had a bunch of cymbals in your possession. Drum geeks until we die :) Peace,
- Jared Falk
What a beautiful kit. This is the first time listening to the PSTs and I have to admit I love them.I have 12 2002 cymbals and I think I might trade a few in for PSTs.Thanks
thats kind of a dickhead decision
welcome to the cymbal paradise 😂😂
Very good lesson!! Hi from Argentina!!!
I have never cracked/broken a cymbal. Although I have told that I am relatively softer hitting drummer, I always felt if I needed too I can but I would rather just use mics and save my energy.
To gain strength I use the " fastest way to get faster" technique with slightly heavier sticks to gain power over speed then on others day revert back to my normal sticks for just speed. Do it for 5 days a week ( 1/2 hour or more ) for 1 month and I guarantee you that you will see a big difference.
Although I sort of already did my crash at the right angle I never though about going from a side to side angle. I will give that a try.
Good knowledge. Thanks dude.
Oh I love 'em, just amazing, well worth the price
I know you said that you hit the bell of the cymbal with either the tip or the shoulder of the stick, but I think hitting the bell with the shoulder is much stronger hit and cuts through the mix more.
Awesome video Jared
realy good job dude keep uploading vids
I can't believe you believe that. Believe me, you can and I can't believe.
I was watching Matt Halpern play New Groove (in the video Matt Halpern and Bulb jamming on a new groove) and I was amazed at his cymbal technique. If you watch it you'll know what I mean. I have no idea where to begin learning how to do what he does. Any tips?
like your drumming im 52 been drumming all my life..do you prefer double or double kicker
i got a double bass 8 toms 8 cymblas ludwig set..i have alot of experience but i wat ch new learn stuff from you.. do uou put a meta l washer between to fet and you p to tighten it up when i get my set..there wasnt no metal was her on them...
great video guys!
Usually with that many cymbals there's more than two toms xD
+Whitebaer for a lot of people more toms just get in the way. You dont want to clog your set up with drums your arent gonna use.
+Matthew Harper most people who have that many toms use them all at least once per song
Shining Armor I'm not saying no one uses more them 2 toms, I'm saying some people don't, and if you don't , dont put them on your kit
Yea
Valuable stuff.
what size sticks do you use?are they tV?They just looked thick. Now I know it all depends what the drummer prefers but do you think thicker heavier sticks are better?Or what do you recommend?
Have A Customs for 5 years. 5 years of trashing. Not a single crack.
wow, that's a serious cymbal collection.
Hey Jared, how is the proper way to hit a china? I bought a 16 Stagg china, and I cracked it the first night I played it in a gig. Thanks in advance.
Great video! Have you heard of Grombals for your cymbals?
I have a question! If you see it please answer me :) So how I`m supposed to hit the crash cybla if i have a faster beat. For example if I have to 8 or 16 notes on the crash cymbal ? Isn`t there any other way to hit the cymbals. How about hitting them sharply with not much power ? I think this would suit ?
Thank you!
Another important thing to consider is the tightness of the wingnuts. I've seen drummers over tighten their cymbals to the point where they can't move at all. This will crack your bell.
Oh man gotta tell ya I LOVE YOU 🤟🏼
Very Nice Lesson,Very Helpful, Thnx. From: Drums are cool
Jared where did you go to school?
Your skills are wicked! love em!
-Katie
i like it and what is your favorite cymbal
Love the Intro:)
thank you so much jared, your videos are inspire many people.
and i'm little curious, why you have 2 different channel and the other channel name is drumlessonscom
thank you from indonesia
need more cymbals !
Hi Jared, nice one too, thanks!
One thing you could add when choking cymbals: instead of the traditional cymbal+kick, hit the cymbal on its own and play the kick drum as you choke it. It's got a "closed hihat" type of feel, but definitely different and surprising.
Off the top of my head, one example could be here at 1:54: /watch?v=T5OmzUEm504
I watched your cymbal choking video once I am not falling for that shit again!
you want some drums with that cymbal kit
jared, one question. How do you get out of you're kit?
You have all of paiste's sales in one year on your set. Great video!!! Just bad cymbals but understandable for how many you wanted for the video.
+jeremy144713 LOL, those aren't bad cymbals. You want bad cymbals? Try out Camber's stuff.
i love stacking cymbals. my x hat is 2 zildjian zbt 10 in. splashes on top of each other. yes the same exact cymbal.
What sticks were you using in this vid. The promarks!
love the videos Jared and I was wondering what kind of cymbals do you recommend
Depends on what music you play and what sound you're personally looking for.
Zildjian A Custom, Sabain AAX are good for metal because they're heavy and designed to take hard hits. If you're into jazz or lighter music you might want thinner and lighter cymbals that don't take much to get their maximum sound out
I play gospel or bluegrass and right now I have zildian
+Christian Branch I personally play Paiste 2002 and Signature series cymbals and they sound really good.
I've also tried Meinl Byzance and Sabian Paragon and AAX, they're also great
Hey Jared, are you ever gonna do Napoleon part 2? Gosh!!!
I love the sound of the Paiste PST5. Paiste is the best cymbals mark!
Does stick size have anything to do with breaking cymbals? Because I was using AHEAD 5B's and 5A's as well as ProMark Joey Jordison's and my Sabian crash ride ended up cracking, (I hit with the glancing blow technique you showed) but when I started using 2B's and Vic Firth Metal Nylon (because I like a heavier stick) I broke an A Custom 16" Crash and an 18" Oriental China "Trash". I was just wondering if the sticks had as much to do with breakage as the way you hit it does
After breaking 3 (expensive!) cymbals you likely need to change your technique. It's you, not the sticks or cymbals. Cymbals should last a lifetime.
Lmao I love getting both sides of it, every other drummer in the world is like YO CHECK THIS SHIT OUT 5 secs later, and boom were done that's how you do that. Nick is all 20 minute videos in detail lol.
good beats
this is unreal and what was that thing u did at 6:28, i think its a grooves or something but can you plesea break it down, i really need it.
about hitting the bell of the cymbal. You have to be really precise to get the BEST bell sound: aim right above the spot where the bell meets the bow of the cymbal. that's where the best bell sound comes from.
how am i supposed to hit the hi-hat ? do i use its edge or just hit on the cymbal with tip ?
are all those cymbals necessary?
I love the Yamaha bass drums. Just saying haha.
This guy knows
that cymble has a low bass! amazing!
more cymbals!!
How long did it take you to set that up?
what yamaha set is that, rc?
how often do you change the Heads?
Seems like freedrumlessons is endorsing Paiste and especially these PST 5's :D, but anyway nice little tips once agains Jared! Thanks.
That’s the most cymbals I’ve ever seen. For real. More than at the store.
Need more cymbals, hardly can play any song's with these drum kit!
PDP or Sound Percusion? which one is better
Please please reply but what is your full set up here????
mother of cymbals!
Sweet :)
He has a snare, kick, two toms, and one of every cymbal in existence
This might be a dumb question, but I want to get a Zildjian EFX cymbal... But people say they crack quickly, and they say it's either because they're just thin, or their technique is just bad. Do you just hit those (thin) EFX cymbals with this technique aswell, so you prevent cracking them easily? Thanks :)
as a rule of thumb, generally the thinner the cymbal the more durable it is - thinner cymbals are more malleable and thus can bend within their limits more. efx cymbals are less durable cos of the holes in them, but as long as you treat them well they'll be fine
Oh so that's how it works! Thank you! :D
DONT BUY ZILDIAN CYMBALS. THEY DONT LAST LONG AT ALL!!!!!!
I Estrada Well, I have a zildjian avedis splash 10", for like 7 years now, without a single crack or keyhole :o
Alain Mulder hmm...my zildjians lasted no longer that few months. Don't understand.
Good info, just wish they would've used a much better series of Paistes! Although that series is great for practicing, so you don't waste you quality cymbals through excessive practice.
well, if you are prepared for your cymbals to break one after another, or not to open up as fully as they can - and still be hitting them the one and only way you like (for some reason) - way to go! but if you prefer that your cymbal gives away at the fullest possible, and lives a long life, you'd better learn the things Jared says here
Hey what about the high hat how do you hit that?
Our minds would probably implode
LOVE LOVE PAISTE CYMBALS FOREVER
Can you break down what you're doing at 4:00 or so?
I want One !!!!
SeriousLY!! ^_^
I play metal as well...it's possible. You just gotta figure out a way to change the motion of the stick when you go to hit the cymbal...and get the muscle memory.
Oh cool :)
Is it just me or did at 2:10 I just watched the lug on a cymbal just spin itself off😂
+Nic Pagan Nope, that's completely normal...
The vibration of the cymbal does that
+PedroBlend ever heard of lock tight?
Nic Pagan That cymbal wasn't tightly locked, obviously, that's why the lug moved
+PedroBlend use a product known as
+PedroBlend Locktight
You can do either, depending on the sound you want.
So the cymbals should be struck in a glancing side swing? But that's not how you did it in the first part of the video..
I don't completely agree about not tilting the cymbals away from you. Obviously if it's ridiculously tilted it's bad, but if it's slightly tilted, I find it can be helpful. If the crash is particularly low, it can prevent you from hitting the bow a lot, and you can reach over it enough to hit the crash properly without hacking the edge because it's low enough.
Well would you rather have 20 decent Paiste cymbals or just 2 really nice Zildjians or Sabians
what size are all thos cymbals jared
