Not that it’s possible to cover the history of Blenheim, I’m always hoping for something these ridiculous bits of nothing can’t deliver. I guess they’re meant to lure non-readers averse to real length historical documentaries into thinking they might like them if they put short ones out with a young nitwit who jumps around and puts cartoon bubbles next to animals and has the camera fixed on her for long intervals followed by 5 seconds actually showing the people who made this place famous. I’ve decided these nonentities are truly for people who want only to be entertained and not see something really special about a gorgeous palace, just a semi-attractive woman to entertain them. You can HAVE her.
I am sorry but I could not find new words to describe how wonderful Alice Loxton is; I would be repeating what many others already said. She is a pleasure to watch and to listen to.
Thanks, Alice. Great tour. The exterior court was also used by Sir. Kenneth Branaugh for his adaptation of Hamlet. When my family and I toured Blenheim Palace in 2018 we had a wonderful guided tour who pointed out the exquisite tapestries. IIRC he said those had no equal except perhaps those at Hampton Court. He also pointed out the front doors which weigh 1 or 2 tons each. Then he also mentioned the gifts John Churchill received from the King of Bohemia (I think) following the victory, in the form of many crates (yes, crates) of Meisen pottery and dishes. Some of the dinner plates were on display in a room of their own.
Presentation is excellent especially the humour done with subtly and a dry wit. This has reminded me I need to revisit this incredible house which is on my doorstep and visit the cemetery too. Thanks Alice
@@davidjgill4902 I saw Easton Neston on “the country house revealed”, with Dan Cruickshank (and absolutely love that building). But wasn’t as familiar with the other two, so thanks.
Our family love Blenheim Palace, especially the gardens. The kids love the train and the Butterfly House is beautiful. Perfect for a picnic and a row on the lake if the weather is nice. The house is impressive too.
After all who needs that ridiculous house when all the fun stuff is outside (:>) I knew of course this place was the Churchill family 'home', but had never seen the whole place, I'm not sure which is the most pompous 'home' of the era, there are so many of them in UK & France etc...all in competition with each other, and with zero concern over what their wealth could achieve for their suffering serfs ! I feel quite honored to be among those who understand the issue & can laugh at it all !
its absurd you can hardly find good history productions on TV when you have incredible channels like this presenting highly informative and entertaining content you can watch at any time for free. thank you so much for the time, effort, and talent to put great videos like this together
ALICE LOXTON… a young, more enthusiastic and more fun version of Mary Beard…. !!! Very good, enthusiastic presenter, makes you want to go see these places. Never seen Alice before but she’s certainly one if my favorite presenters now !
Ms. Loxton is a marvelous presenter -- not the least bit dry or stuffy, love her sense of humor. I believe the exterior of Blenheim was also used in Kenneth Brannagh's movie version of Hamlet.
I went to England a few years ago and took a very lovely walk with my wife of the gardens after touring the house and there is a wonderful trellis tunnel that we got super baked in. Great day.
I only discovered Alice a couple months back by chance on Instagram, her knowledge is fierce, her presentation style is lighthearted and joyful, her passion for history shows too! I'd be lying if I didn't also admit to having a really big crush on her 😍
I thoroughly enjoy episodes with Alice Loxton presenting. Enjoyable & entertaining, with some chuckles. 10 out of 10. I am curious.. did the crew go back and rumble with the baabaa after filming? Those baby baabaas were adorable. 🐑🐑🐑
Hello there from Australia! 🇦🇺 🌏🦘 This video just showed up in my feed and I’m glad it did. You made it so very interesting and fun to watch. I love your way of presenting. It really tickled my sense of humour. I can’t wait to see what other ones you have done! Keep up the great work and your sense of humour. ❤
A fantastic video! Although personally I could of sat next to John Churchill for hours listening to him talking about Blenheim without being being bored at all!
The part at the end reminded of the $500,000,000 house in Los Angeles; looks okay but also... more like a museum than a house to be lived in. Very interesting video, thank you 🙏
I absolutely adore history and I’m always happy to stumble across quality channels like this one-with so much knowledge and enthusiasm for the incredible topic!💗
Excellent! The theme of warlike grandiloquence is very much exemplified by the enclosed courtyard, which looks like an immense parade ground, rather than a place where coaches full of debs sweep in for balls.. Very good work! Nice one Alice. 👍
Alice is an absolute star! Her enthusiasm, knowledge, and quirkiness is infectious. Very entertaining.
I agree am smitten
Plus she's a fitty lol
Alice Loxton is a joy to watch. Very informative and also, rare for an historian, very entertaining.

I agree with you 100%, as I was watching her I thought the same. She is a lovely, bright girl.
I love watching her!
I disagree historians can be very entertaining. You must have had a poor history teacher at school.
@@voraciousreader3341 Tell us what you really think.
What an amazing presenter. She seems to be honestly interested and presents this video with great charme. I really like her a lot.
Great History
She's hot. End of story.
I'd like to see her presenting more of this sort of stuff, she's really enthusiastic and bubbly.
Second the motion!
Do you have a penchant for middle class girlie swots ? That certainly is a niche market.
I really enjoy Alice's videos. Just the right mix of entertainment and historical information. Well done.
I am sorry but I could not find new words to describe how wonderful Alice Loxton is; I would be repeating what many others already said. She is a pleasure to watch and to listen to.
Alice does such a fantastic job presenting! Thank you!
The UK is just filled with so much fascinating history!👍👍

The presenter mixing history and comedic beauty in such a wonderful way.
This video actually made me want to visit Blenheim Palace, and I'm from Italy! I love Alice, she's wonderful and presents things so well!
It is a truly beautiful place, and the grounds are equally beautiful.
Not only is she wonderful, she’s smart and oh so beautiful. Her enthusiasm is right off the chart.
Beautiful! The Baroque stately homes of England are some of my favorites (Chatsworth House, Blenheim Palace, Castle Howard etc).
Check out Grimsthorpe and Seaton Delaval. Also, Easton Neston, though it's not open to the public.
@@davidjgill4902 I saw Easton Neston on “the country house revealed”, with Dan Cruickshank (and absolutely love that building). But wasn’t as familiar with the other two, so thanks.
This was very well done, good pacing, good variation and decent set pieces with some fitting humour sprinkled through out.
I mean this in the best way possible, but I'm sure I've had university assignments marked using these exact words 😅
I have always enjoyed Blenheim. I have now, fallen in love with Alice. Truly the best Blenheim introduction ever made.
I absolutely LOVED receiving information and education from Alice!
Our family love Blenheim Palace, especially the gardens. The kids love the train and the Butterfly House is beautiful. Perfect for a picnic and a row on the lake if the weather is nice. The house is impressive too.

I am more concerned heating my bedsit and where my next meal will come from . How the other half live eh?
Love Alice! What a character. So funny, engaging, and affable.
This is possibly the best palace/castle that we visited in the UK. Lovely presenter!!
its absurd you can hardly find good history productions on TV when you have incredible channels like this presenting highly informative and entertaining content you can watch at any time for free.
thank you so much for the time, effort, and talent to put great videos like this together
We just returned from England and visited Blenheim. Great job summing up its unique and special history.
An American with a passport ? 😅🤣😂
My favorite part was how comfortable our hostess is with the animals!❤
Alice at the palice, another fun quirky presentation from the ever watchful Miss Loxton. Bring on the next one.
I’ve been to Blenheim Palace, it’s amazing! Also, the small town of Woodstock is charming.
Definitely not a cozy home, magnificent, none the less. I can’t imagine calling this home. Great job.
It’s a Masonic temple
I think Alice had a hoot filming this show! ;-) I loved Blenheim. It's my favorite palace/castle in England.
ALICE LOXTON… a young, more enthusiastic and more fun version of Mary Beard…. !!! Very good, enthusiastic presenter, makes you want to go see these places. Never seen Alice before but she’s certainly one if my favorite presenters now !
Can't imagine Mary Beard wearing such a short skirt...!!
She is such a joy. Thank you HH for having her.
Just when I’ve thought I’ve see all the elaborate properties, I’m being shown another bit of history. Awesome.
I want to watch some more videos with her.. She's a great teacher

The house is amazing, but the grounds are stunning in summer, especially the walk along the lake and past the waterfall

I went to England a few years ago and took a very lovely walk with my wife of the gardens after touring the house and there is a wonderful trellis tunnel that we got super baked in. Great day.

Raves for the fantastic presenter, Alice. And oh, yes .. lovely house, er um ... palace. 😊
Good job. I’m from Woodstock, Ontario Canada. Our old town hall, now a museum, is a replica of the one in the UK. has a dome, Georgian I think.
Blenheim is one of my favourite places to visit and even I have learned something from Alice 😊
Such a wonderful place thank you for sharing 💕
Good stuff. Alice does a great job.
Thank you so much! I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, you are a great presenter and this was very interesting!
fantastically done right....love love history
The part at the end reminded of the $500,000,000 house in Los Angeles; looks okay but also... more like a museum than a house to be lived in.
Very interesting video, thank you 🙏
The LA house isn’t hundreds of years old and / or nationally important to the US.
You do the best history videos Alice! Would love to do a tour with you in person!
