I was at that store last week. Mike was very friendly and helped me choose my first telescope.
Cs5+Revolution Imager
Excellent Setup!
I'm so excited! I just purchased one of these. :)
Thank you for all the help today Mike! We are already neck deep in fun(my grandson and I). So much to learn, we are hooked!👍
I think I like this guy. Very real presentation.
Excellent Video, Love this system!
Great Camera at the price point, I love it.
Can you plug in the power directly on the clelestron evolution ?
I have a fast telescope - Orion 8 inch Astrograph. In this video, you said to put the reducer at the front end. But the thread of the reducer is too large to fit directly into the camera. Does the extension tube come apart to do this? I tried to do this, but it won't come apart or is too tight.
THANK YOU
Hola- I just bought the revolution imager but I dont have a bracket to mount the on the Celestron 130slt - do u sell it? Link please
does the monitor cope in cold nights and dew ok?
if i tighten my old scope other then this also very heavey one will work meaning my remote and and black wire
I'm really looking to upgrade the screen to something that's at least 10 in and hd. Any ideas?
Hey Mike. Great looking product. How do you save images?
Thank you! Either use the USB to computer or the portable DVR. However many customers take photo of the screen for simple and easy!
does come with other things looks empty my dvr resolution thats writes in chinese. it vibrates but won't show anything i see a green thing on the mini dvr screen
Does the unit come with the 1/4 20 stud?
Hi Robert, The Revolution Imager Camera has the standard tripod socket on the bottom, the 1/4 20 thread. We do have mini ball heads you can use and even several lenses you can use for all sky or low power magnification work also, just fyi!
If you try to connect it to your laptop with the USB adapter they sell, It doesn't work even after working with camera defaults and settings.
I like your videos but I am still having trouble focusing the RI2 when looking at the bright planets. I am using a Meade ETX ACF LS 6. The planets that I view at just a white blob. Thank you.
Almost forgot I use a 2x barlow as well. I have been to the how to at Revolution Imager and used those setting to start with but can't get away from being over exposed. Once again thank you.
If you connect the camera to your telescope and try focusing without making some adjustments in the menu first, you may find that there is no way to focus. I went into the menu and selected SCENE SELECT CUSTOM. With SCENE SELECT CUSTOM highlighted, I pressed the center button on the remote control. At this point a new menu appeared with SHUTTER/AGC at the top. I used the left/right arrows on the hand control to set this to AUTO for my first daytime focus attempt. I did not remove the diagonal mirror from my scope, but simply replaced the eyepiece with the camera. Depending on your scope you may need to remove the diagonal mirror and place the camera directly into the focusing tube to obtain focus. Some scopes may even require extension to the focal path in order to focus. I was able to quickly focus the camera on an object about 1/4 mile away from my home in daylight. If you have trouble focusing, remember that the problem is not with the camera. Do a little reading and you can get it to focus. I used a pencil to mark the focus point for the camera on the telescopes focus tube. This put me in the ball park and made it much quicker when I went out at night to achieve focus. Stars were sharp points of light even without a focus mask.
In 1957 they had fuel injection in the corvette :-)
On the second replacement unit the on/ off light died with in a couple of hours of receiving the unit. The hot pixels in such a new camera is simply ridiculous. Used auto maintenance function to try and remove the hot pixels they just come back! Then had a little better success using the manual function but could not remove all of the hot pixels even manually. The monitor that comes with the system also had a lot of dead pixels. Must say the battery pack that comes with the kit so far works great and have even powered our other astrovideo cameras with it. Also added the Mini DVR which so far works well for what it is but the compression of the video isn't terrible but not great but usable. Setting the time to get any accuracy is plain hard and terrible. Would give this Revolution Imager a C+ at best a B- in cost to quality and performance. Fowler customer service is responsive , at least in our experience, but one is always left with the sense and feeling that the customer is to blame for the product's short comings, failures, and not preforming to advertised quality and performance of the system as claimed by Fowler!
Using some Dark Frames and stacking software should help a lot.
The 1904 Wright Flyer had a fuel injected engine.
OMG what a palava
You went through the set-up steps kind of fast. The website was not very helpful. I think that I kept up by pausing the video, but the wiring harness and all the add-ons were a rats nest! I did get a flash of a response on the screen and was elated considering last night in the twilight and in the dark I never had that much. I should have known better than to attempt out in the field but am in the living room doing some research currently. Maybe the source was the battery not being fully charged? I will keep searching for videos to determine if there is a "signal" for having the battery pack at full charge. Would be nice if the engineers did think of this, like the lights flash or an automatic cut off. Thank you Mike for your offerings!
the scene all blue no pictures
the ring of saturn is so invisabl you cant see it with this but only eye to lens
Hi Ron, There are only 2 things that make up and Image, Focus and Exposure. You have not got the exposure right surely, as too underexposed you will not see any image and too overexposed and everything is white. Have you been to RevolutionImager.com and looked under the "how do I" tab for Planetary viewing.
may have but the remote never worked and can makem black and see the planet nothings washed out just the ring.
@@narcovice Well that would be a pain, not having a working remote for the camera. I would have contacted the provider for a replacement.
IF you are using an SCT which has a focal length of F10 - you will in all probability not be able to obtain focus with the .5 Focal Reducer which comes with the R2 assembled on the R2 lens port. Best option would be to use a focal reducer designed for the SCT. If you try adding the R2's focal reducer - don't be surprised if the SCT's focuser does not have enough range to bring the image into focus.
Absolutely incorrect. The Schmidt Cassigrain Telescope system has tremendous focus range, I have never seen any commercially made SCT not reach focus with this type of .5x reducer in my 34 years of astronomical use or sales.
@@mikefowler7358 It would be wonderful if I could bring my Celestron 8 SCT and the RI2 over to your place - so that you could see for yourself.
@@dw6528 Yes please! Something must be the wrong way around, we'll figure it out asap if you can bring it in!
@@mikefowler7358 Thank you very much for the offer!! However traveling that distance is not available to me.
Perhaps you could help with advise. I have the Celestron C8 and it works nicely with any eye-piece.
I have the Celestron 6.3x reducer, and the Celestron visual back which accepts 1.25" eyepieces.
I also have 3 different diagonals.
Do I have the right parts to ensure the I have the correct back-focus distance between the scope and the RI2?
Some people insist one should not use the 6.3x reducer - but only use the RI2's .5x reducer.
Other people say to use both the 6.3x and the .5x reducer.
Thanks in advance
@@dw6528 Can you focus with just the telescope and no reducer anywhere. During the day point the telescope at a tree or mailbox, it MUST be further than 200 yards.
You really need to hire a technical writer to write an instruction manual for the RI2. You are too close to it. You understand it intimately but do a lousy job of conveying the info to people who know very little about sing;e gain, exposure, etc. I've own an RI2 for a year and am mostly frustrated by it. I want to believe but can find any resources like astrophotography for dummies.
David James I'm with ya i have the workings of the camera sorta down but i cannot for the life of me figure out how in the hell to use the capture device. simply plug it in is all the instructions say. my ass just plug it in.
how in gods name do i hook this damn thing up to a computer. I've tried until I'm about ready to throw this son of a bitch threw the computer screen. i like the camera i like the ability to use the screen. but i am lost on how to use the capture device.
I tested the Video capture device on my windows 10 laptop. After installing the software that comes on the CD, It worked and was identified by SharpCap as a video input device. I am assuming you are using some video capture software. SharpCap is free and it works well.
Might be what I'm looking for. Can't tell from this video. Maybe a little less coffee before stepping in front of the camera. Perhaps a script. No need for jokes. Relax, give us information.
