    omg, you made it so simple. I tried gliding a week ago and got so discouraged because I was trying to apply the gold leaf while it was still wet. Yes, it has to be tacky to the touch, a vital step. And I love the fact you used some glue that is not from a special brand...which originally I thought was what I had to do. I am learning that there are a variety of options, and I don't have to spend hundreds on name brands...thank you.

      Yeah, if I were gilding something going in a museum or something, I would probably use gilding adhesive (maybe), but for everyday projects, this has never served me wrong. I'm so glad you found it helpful. 😍

    It is not actual gold leaf, because gold leaf acts quite a bit differently than this. anyone trying this with real gold instead of "faux" (fake) gold will have all sorts of problems. I'm not here to be negative, I'm just pointing this out. There are very good reasons one way or another to choose fake or real, so do your homework. (because the real stuff is very expensive)

    • @HaulywoodReviews
      @HaulywoodReviews  11 місяців тому +7

      You are correct. I did not use actual gold leaf in this video, but I have used real Gold leaf, as in, not imitation gold leaf I’m several projects. I did not notice it behaving any differently in my projects. I have used real gold leaf from LA Gold Leaf for years. I have never experienced any problems working with it, other than it being slightly more difficult to work with, as it is very very delicate. Mine look practically indistinguishable. What have you experienced?

    Proof!!! I do NOT belong in a padded cellI, well not today anyway....😂 Gilding a frame. No MP tho. I stuck the leaf to still tacky $1. spray paint. My daughter stood, mouth agape to find me also using:
    Same lash tweezers. To tamp and smooth , B Blender, Sigma E40, and M.A.C 263 brushes. Finished with clear coat, or brown wax for that an antique look. It turned out GORG!
    DISCLAIMER:
    No cosmetic brushes were harmed during the process of this DIY project. 😂

    I wish we could actually see how it looks in the end. You immediately cut away when it was done while you were still saying "look at this" and when you came back there were two huge "Watch next" boxes over the video covering the exact spot the rock was on the screen.

      Good point. I did forget to mention it, but in this video it was Mod Podge. I have used Elmer's glue, Mod Podge and DIY Mod Podge (which I am actually releasing a video about tomorrow). That all work pretty interchangeably in my opinion. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

      I mean she did forget to mention the name but you can easily see that the bottle said Mod Podge on it. Unless you are visually impaired ( in which case disregard this comment) then it was very obvious what she used.
