This is a golden series of tips. I'm a physio and find very often wrong exercises recommended to patients, and it's hard to re-leran in some cases.. Great job on your whole channel!
I've been in physical therapy twice per week for 90 mins each session and have been doing 3 reps of 10 everytime of the pelvic tuck with no towel. Plus doing it when I wake and before bed. In fact all three of these! Is this why I feel worse and now have pain on both hips?! My PT has a Doctorate
Sorry to hear about that Chris, it's likely that your PT is operating from a Back muscle/core approach rather than a spine-first approach. But this is very common. Do check out the video linked below and of course if you want more help do check out the membership to the program on our website: ua-cam.com/video/QIYFt7qQbJw/v-deo.html
You guys are wonderful. What I've learned from you has helped me tweak my yoga practice to suit my body perfectly. One of the better yoga teachers on here is Tim Sinessi. He's a surfer so no stranger to injuries and had back problems previously to becoming a yoga teacher. He's exceptionally good at encouraging you to engage your muscles in the correct way. I've not done all his videos so I doubt if he'll avoid pelvic tucks etc but any that I have, have helped me. I don't flatten my lumbar spine, never have, and I don't do some things that a lot of yoga teachers suggest because I know they're wrong for me. I've always listened to my body and done things my own way. Including modifications, which is something my yoga teacher picked up on and suggested I do a yoga teacher training course. When I spoke to them at the BSS, I got a response I wasn't expecting. Apparently the yoga community is crying out for people like me to teach. I plan on doing a course on breath work once I'm qualified because I feel it's a big part of yoga that teachers skim over, they want to get to the postures. I'd rather have fewer poses and more time spent on breath and meditation in a class because you can do a lot of postures in 15-30 minutes. Thank you again for your guidance and helping me take care of myself and making me a better yoga teacher
Wow the swimming I would have thought help. But what you say makes sense. Thanks for saving me money on the YWCA pool membership :) I'll save that for future goals
Swimming shouldn't make it worse (but it can aggravate sometimes) - but swimming is not getting it better, it's not rehab or strengthening, just an activity that you might be able to do without pain.
@@BackInShapeProgram exercise is not helping me at all as the pain is flared up big time. Swimming is something i can still do somehow. What should i do?
@@magic.weaver I would check out the video here and get started on this material and if you need more help do check out the website :) ua-cam.com/video/QIYFt7qQbJw/v-deo.html Remember, you will likley need to LEARN to do the exercises CORRECTLY, which involves a small period of time doing them wrong, which can aggravate but there's only one way to safely learn these things and that's to carefully do the doing :)
