  • Buddha Delights ( 罗汉斋) with ingredient subtitles, this will be my first video which i added ingredients names in the subtitles, hoping this can make things easier for my followers. This is a vegetarian dish popular amongst buddhist, without adding any garlic or shallots to it, with a combinations of different type of vegetables and beancurds. There is really no rules of what you can put inside, you choose what you prefer.

    Thank you Chef Ah Pa for your great cooking demonstrations and instructions.
    i have been full time vegetarian for a few months already, furthermore, trying to avoid the 5 - 6 pungent vegetables / herbs as much as possible, which can be challenging, so thank you very much for creating this video.
    I love this dish a lot so I will have to make it.

    This is my favorite dish to make during CNY. However, I always struggle with the gravy being soaked up after adding the vermicelli. I use Korean glass noodles as I can't find the ones my family would use at home. Maybe I should really add more water?

      On one hand, add more water, on the another hand, soak glass noodles with hot water for minimum 10 mins, then it wun soak up the broth too much

    Ah Pa, delicious but just my 2 cents-maybe next time you deep fry the dried vermicelli,then put into the vege to braise(rather than soak it)

    Cooking Ah Pa... why cannot use garlic & shallots?? Arent they vegetables or should i say non-meat.

    • @CookingAhPa
      @CookingAhPa  3 роки тому +2

      Avoiding onions and garlic is usually motivated by a religious or cultural understanding, not "scientific" vegetarianism. As Krishna points out, both certain Hindus and Jains avoid onion and garlic. For some, it's because they are considered "hot," and are seen as liable to increase the body's desires and lusts.
