    To explain the opposite directions for the tread, you have to think about the direction of the force applied to the tire. With the rear, the force applied to the tread is facing to the rear of the bike as the power is coming from the bike. With the front, since it's unpowered, the force is applied due to braking and is coming from the front. So you want the tread to point in the direction of the force application to shed water properly.

      so maybe apllied force changes so a reverse tread would aid in dry traction, but in wet conditions reverse tread will evacuate water towards the center of the tread.

    • @fairplayer916
      @fairplayer916 Рік тому

      what about water wicking though? i was always taught that you orient the tires so they will throw water away from the wheel to promote traction.
      so with the triangular pattern you see here, you want the point of the arrow to be the first part to hit the grought, so it will trouff the water away from the tire.

    • @Tetz95
      @Tetz95 Рік тому

      @@fairplayer916 Exactly. That's a good way to look at it, too. Also, think about what happens when the tire breaks traction, due to either braking (front) or acceleration (rear). You want the point of the triangle going opposite the direction the surface is moving under the tire. Sometimes it's hard to visualize from the perspective of the tire.

    • @fairplayer916

      @@Tetz95 another way to say it is the tread points in the direction the tire should roll.

    I wanted to thank you Burch for this video and your other videos. We fitted up these same tires yesterday. They fit perfectly and are an improvement for sure. A quick tip is to loosen the rear exhaust bracket bolts so that the exhaust can be moved a little, and the rear tire slides right in.

    I've done car, motorcycle, and scooter tires. I think sometimes small ones are harder. Hard to stand on them and use a tire iron. The first few times you do it, it's pretty slow, but you'll get faster. You did great! It might sound crazy, and certainly dangerous, but sometime you will run into a tire with a bead that is really hard to break. You can use a c-clamp or you can jack up one wheel on your car using a floor jack, and carefully lower the car onto the tire with a hard to break bead. 'Ya 'gotta be careful, 'ya don't want to die changing a tire.

    both tires are backwards. as it sits the tread pattern will evaccuate water to the center (hello hydroplaning). from the top down view, your tread should form arrows pointing to the front.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  Рік тому

      That was my logic as well, but only the rear is backwards. There are comments here that explain it better than I could.

    Back in my Automotive class, tires were the absolute worse. I couldn't and still can't do it. I'd rather take the wheel off and take it to the shop or just drop my bike off. I absolutely HATE tires.
    The worse where the people who put the tires with less than an inch of sidewall on giant rims. The thinner that sidewall the harder it is to put a tire on that wheel. 🙃

      Yea man this was definitely NOT the most fun I’ve ever had…can’t wait to have to do it again for the rear 😂😂😂😭😭😭

    they’ve all made that backwards tire install mistake once! Lol. But usually only wants to because doing the job twice sucks so bad we never want to make that mistake again.
    Also, the audio levels between your microphone and the bass, heavy background track, super whack.
    I got my volume up so I can hear you nice and clear, then your background music kicks in and blows out my woofers

    I like how you have is facing the wall as if destruction a punishment I just purchased one that got injured on one accelerator raced right off the battery died down no starting the shipment I don't even know where to begin throwing me up and down hills into the ground racing off Willie and me as a disabled strange disgusting smells and so much more I've never hit 60 mi an hour with the stock tires when I tried to do with a 50 on the bed strip like kedzie Street in Chicago I became swept to the side of the curb and told throwing me up and down hills into the ground racing off Willie and me as a disabled strange disgusting smells and so much more I've never hit 60 miles an hour with the stock tires and when I tried to do with a 50 on the bed strip like kids extremely Chicago I became swept to the side of the curb and told nahh nahh. Not today I went to the attorney general on Honda for selling me a piece of s*** that a retailer in berrington Illinois and I'm waiting to hear word from him it's starting up but now when I hit the accelerator throttle on the right side it's cutting off and shutting off dying like someone's something is contaminating my bike and like it's refusing to go so I'm not riding my nav eye infection from the sell it and I love it or something to get rid of it another bike

    Just a suggestion, don’t let your brake drum hang by the lines when you do things like this. It puts stress on the fittings and the lines. We always just hook a little bungee cord or something in it and hang it back up on the handlebars just to keep the stress off everything. You live and you learn from experience! Love your vids!
