Gil Scott was a very altruistic person, although he wound up being one of, if not THE most INSPIRATIONAL voices in the HISTORY of not only just black music, but the movement for Black power and Black liberation, he ALWAYS thought MORE of others than himself! I can relate to that because he was an Aries ♈️ as I am myself!
His celebrations came from what he felt in his ❤️, not what anyone could buy or do for him because when people use those, they subliminally have some form of control and use them to manipulate you! We're BLESSED beyond just about anything we can imagine, to see clips like this because, imho, he felt he could be MORE effective in the lives of people, BEHIND cameras and photos, rather than in FRONT of them, and he left US with and ENDLESS library of, as he'd term it "Bluesic", that can tell us MORE about him than he probably could HIMSELF!
I got turned on to him in my early teens and am STILL filled with inspiration, and each time I listen to songs by him I've repeatedly heard before, I learn something new, not only about him, but about life itself! Although he was firey, and everyone knows about "The Revolution will not be televised", many of the other songs he wrote, that are works of beauty, have really IMPACTED me because I see MYSELF in them!
Songs like "Save the Children", "Lady Day and John Coltrane", "The Prisoner", "A Morning Thought," "Three Miles Down", "Kane", "Fell Together", "NYC", and so many others! It's almost as if he told my story BEFORE it actually HAPPENED! His album "Real Eyes" with him and his first child is one of the HAPPIEST pictures I've ever seen of him, I CAN RELATE!
My children are grown, and now that I'm a GRAND, when I look in the faces of my grandchildren and they look at me, that's REAL LOVE in its purest form, I know I won't be here to see the world they'll live in, but I want them to ALWAYS remember the LOOK they saw in grandpa's eyes and know I'll ALWAYS be with them!
A CERTIFIED SO to Mr. GIL Scott Heron, may he Rest in Power!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

Miss him. I still always listen regularly to his music. Work for Peace, and so many other songs of his are still on my playlist in recent times. Wish there was some music like this being played on the radio for young people today. Gil put out songs about relevant issues, he took you to school.😊 I definitely think he was one of the best artists. Important mesages, great music and a very nice singing voice & style. I can just imagine what he would be saying today.

I was quite upset to only notice this recently. Because I had all his CDs and imported them into my iPhone, on top of never really streaming until this year, I was mad to find most their albums (him + Brian Jackson I mean) are unavailable on Apple Music. I really think his music is literature, history, blues, jazz, and funk mixed together

Kinda looks to me like the interviewer is practically beaming with excitement and joy to talk to the guy. Perhaps he was nervous to talk with someone so clearly extremely talented and intelligent. That question about "being out of the industry" at the beginning, the interviewer seemed to know the sort of answer he would receive. As in he knew he wasn't really out of music, just that people en large probably thought he was.
I feel like I could go on about it but perhaps it is an issue of perspective and/or projection on the part of the viewer than it is of the interviewer. You are kidding yourself if you think you have a better sense of judgement than Gil.
