One of the mysteries of UA-cam: how many time have I worn the tracks of Rich's UA-cam _Seekers_ postings-it's gotta be at least 3 years now-and this is the first time I've heard this track.
To hear a group that was nationally known sing a song about Jesus and the gospel back in the 60s is amazing. I was alive then. Popular music was not honoring God at all. The Seekers obviously honored God and that’s why God honored them! This song and Judith’s powerful vocals are really Beautiful.
I would say that - Judith is a Christian now, but I don't know if she was then. I can't speak for the boys. But in the early days I'm sure they sang gospel songs just because they were great songs, regardless of the message. The saying that "the devil has all the best tunes" is nonsense.
Peter, Paul & Mary sang quite a few gospel type songs also: Well, Well, Well; Jesus Met The Woman; Come and Go With Me; You Can Tell the World as well as a few others. Mary Travers had a powerful voice too but could also blend well with Peter and Paul. IMO these were two incomparable musical groups from the 60s.
@757 Church. I grew up in the 60’s when God was still in ‘Victory,’ as they sang here. I can recall The byrds reciting the Bible, in one of the most beautiful songs of that era, composed. I can remember God mentioned, ‘ Don’t it make you want to go home’ by Joe South, strong emphasis on God. ‘Spirit in the Sky,’. Strong emphasis on Jesus Christ. There were more there, than today’s vile antichrist, rubbish. @@larryvermeer6170 Thank God for You Tube. As for me, when I was listening in those days, they were never heavily promoted in the States. I only knew them from the movie “Georgie Girl”. When compared with so much of today's music, isn't it amazing to see, and hear, what spectacular results can be achieved with three microphones, one tambourine, two acoustic guitars, one stand up base, three male voices, and of course the incomparable voice of Judith Durham singing her heart out, all live with sixties audio technology ....

What an exciting, rip roaring song. This must have been right after I heard them in Sydney. By the time they were on the Ed Sullivan show, I was patrolling the coast of Vietnam. This is an incredible rendition!
I adore this thank you so much.
Great video, thanks for sharing !
Unlike so many others, you're actually bringing great Seekers content to the tube! Rich for the win!
I do not know how you obtain all this footage but a big thank you to you Rich. David T
