I love it when we get to use the stairs instead of the bridge. You get to walk up close to the engine and see the marvelous 757 which is truly unique

I am a former United Airlines Purser Flight Attendant. So, yes, many times on the 757 going to Hawaii from LA. But with La Compagnie smaller amount of seats, that looks and is great. That feels like a personal corporate jet. Our Secretary of State has the 757 in the US government fleet. And yes, our taxes pay for our government President fleet.
One of the sexiest and most appealing liveries on a 757 ever! Great work!

+ajhiflyer only 74 passengers if a plane is full, compare it to Lufthansa A340-600, 300 passengers in all classes, fast in and out, not too many people in a gate, no long wait for luggage

Great oldschool sound from the Rollers full of power and charm and that chrome intake is classic
You can see the difference between regular business class and this airlines attempt at Business class. Everything is LCC based. No air bridge, limited lounge facilities with on board economy style food all served at once. This is "Business Class" for those who normally fly economy. On a positive note, its excellent value, even just for the flat bed. I hope they continue to grow and give more expensive carriers a kick in the ass! Another great flight report, thanks :)
+amc3 Thank you for the comment mate! While you have a point at what you are saying, I think they are more a cross between premium economy and business class. The low pax load especially is nice, boarding and deboarding is in an eye blink. I don't know if they have bridge access at Paris, but in Newark they board via bridge. The Lounge at luton is under construction, lounge facility at Newark is alot better.
At this moment they have a special offer, 2 tickets London-Newark for £1700, which is more a premium economy price. I paid £650 for a roundtrip Ltn-Ewr....
London Luton has no air bridge. Also its a small airport so the lounge isn't gonna be Heathrow sized is it? When the lounge is finished I'm sure it'll have quite a cosy feel to it, I reckon it'll be quite nice!
+Window Seat ...I totally agree, more Premium Economy than Business Class. You cant complain at the prices they charge for a return flight, it represents excellent value for money as an alternative to Business Class. The Business sized seats and low pax wins it for them I guess.
+amc3 you miss the point. It's not that you got premium economy or business class or first class seats, the point is this are the only seats availible on the plane. which means no annoying kids, no smelling people who never heard of water and soap, etc. Of course they don't serve you 1985 bordeaux wine, but you are kind of a VIP traveler on a low fare, so it's nice. I don't know how profitable it is though(for the company).
+amc3 well, the only thing that has real *value* in business class is the flat bed. I wouldn't mind if they even didn't serve anything. I kinda like this "low cost flat bed" approach. Legacy carriers charge double the price for business - is it worth paying another $1000 for better meal, IFE and air bridge? Not for me.

Fantastic trip report! As a former flight attendant, I have a few pet peeves about the service. In Business Class, nuts should always be served in dishes and not plastic bags, and putting the dessert and cheese plate on the tray before dinner is served is a bit lazy on their part. We always went through with a dessert/coffee service after the main course was eaten and cleared. Not knocking you as the messenger, just commenting on the airline.

Even though it's not the nicest business class around, it looks somewhat good at a reasonable price. To be honest, i think this airline is doing the right thing for the price,since they are flying to Newark and Luton rather than JFK and Heathrow.

It's nice to see video's of a quite unknown airline. Flying business class for almost economy prices in a classic 757 must be a real dream for aviation enthousiasts. Hopefully this airline would become a success in the (near) future.

sarah poire They sometimes have offers that are under 1200 euro. At the moment they have an offer for €2300 from Paris to NY for 2 people. For this price you could get with a bit of luck a business class ticket on another airline, but I would say it's a premium economy price.

Sad to announce that La Compagnie Boutique have stop flying from LTN to EWR with immediate effect. They will increase their Paris-NYC route claiming Brexit no longer makes it viable, sad news indeed.
I heard the news last week, sad news indeed. We will see what the future will bring for this airline, I sure hope they will survive.
I hope so too, they bring a refreshing and affordable service to the busiest route in the world, London-New York.
Would that still happen even if Brexit never happens or a Soft Brexit happens?

Tried them Paris > NYC, super quick onboarding, feeling like in a small plane with only 74 passengers - friendly staff, VG food, good seats and the tablets are handy. IMHO a super value for money. Will definitely fly them again.

Thanks for an honest and frank report. La Compagnie business class product is clearly not up to the same level/service as European mainline competition, such as Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa etc. I would have expected the food choices and presentation to have been much better. The amenity kit was sparse as in minimal and the fact your entertainment system did not work, dissapointing to say the least. For an overall "business class" experience not good at all. To survive as a "business class" carrier, La Compagnie need to be on-par, if not better, than their competition and not competing with the "Economy Plus" product under a "Business Class" banner.

La Compagnie is considering on replacing the Boeing 757 with either the Airbus A320neo or the Boeing 737 MAX. I believe with new and more efficient aircraft, the prices would surely go down.

Not true; new planes need financing. Older planes are cheaper.

757s are gas hogs....the Extended Range 321 Neos will save this airline lots of money....especially with unpredictable fuel prices.
Most the 757s that remain flying are getting old and can be extremely expensive to keep operational and to maintain a Flight Airworthiness Certificate.
Most Carriers can/do write-off Depreciation/Financing Interest on their new aircraft. So as long as they have Positive Cash Flow, the operational and maintenance costs involved operating New/Newer aircraft are manageable indeed.
As I come from France, I heard about the airline a year ago, and I watched closely the beginning. It seems that they had some problems and had to give money back to the passengers. They only have 2 757 for the moment but they plan to buy more in the next years. I'm surprised that there are french announcement onboard as it's a UK-US service. I'm not sure if it's profitable for the airline to serve Luton Airport. I would have prefered Stansted or Gatwick ! Also, they should be looking for codeshare agreements in the US, to attract more people. Maybe JetBlue or Southwest, as they have many destinations. The product is good for the price. I remember that the first price was €1399 for 2 when they launched the product out of Paris. They may plan to introduce a AMS-EWR service but it's unlikely to be done till they have new planes ^^. Jules Koch Thanks for the information mate. I must say that travelling from London Luton is easy and conveniant. Gatwick is larger and has activities though, never been to Stansted.
I do think that this airline has potential in regarding to their product. I'm curious to see if they will survive and how they will develop. I would love to see an Ams-Ewr service. They offered limited tickets when they launched the Ltn-Ewr flight for £649 a person or £1007 per couple. So if they would have an offer like this in case of an Ams-Ewr service I will buy a ticket definately!

Jules Koch Your living a "pipe dream" they have more people that want to fly with them than available seats/flights. They don't need/want to share their profits with Code Share Agreements.
Friend flew them recently..............awesome service............1/3 the price of United,BA,AA business-fare and they don't offer the service this creative French Airline does.
Choosing Luton is Smart...........Landing/Gate fees are much cheaper.
And the business model is so successful already.......they are already shopping around for some well-maintained used 757s/767s to meet customer demand at peak flying periods...even on "slow" days....they make decent money with a partial load of passengers.
Their business model.........is rid the company of unwantedexpenses (like expensive airports) and corrupt Labor Unions...........Customer wins in the end.

Sorry for maybe asking a bit stupid, because there IS also another French commercial Airline out of Orly that now ALSO has this wonderful idea ...!!! I LOVED the Sound of the Roll Royce Engines !! B0 doesn't go from Luton anymore, they don't even operate in the UK now, maybe bcoz of high operation costs.
For ife, they have put in a Samsung tab rather than usual LCDs.

I love the idea of an all business airline as I'm fed up with subsidising cheap economy seats when I fly business, however there was one called Silverjet I think that went bust a few years ago. Hope these guys can make it work.

Wat de stoelen betreft: het zijn angle lie flat seats, je kunt er wel in liggen maar het zijn geen full lie flat seats.
Everyone's always commenting on airline videos and saying Emirates and Cathay, blah blah blah. Yes, they are the best but you are going to pay WAY MORE money PERIOD. I'd rather fly this and better off than coach with a few thousand to spare instead of useless amenities or luxuries at said airlines like gold plated arm rests or diamond or gold infused water.
I agree, I actually find Emirates to be a bit tacky. The gold and mustard colored wood is a bit too much to take in. I prefer a more modern and sleek look like this.
+thebunny Until the flight gets cancelled and you have to spend 24 additional hrs in London because there is no alternative on the airline or its partners. The price you have to be willing to pay to fly J across the pond at a fraction of the cost I suppose

Time flies so fast.. Imagine the cabin looks suddenly outdated from today's business class cabin. Nonetheless, a good review. I noticed your seat mate seem to be bothered while you were taking the video - I hope not. There was a terrible vibrating noise during take to flight level, I hate that when I fly. It feels like the plastic panels will suddenly pop out. I think the newer 787s have less of those.. I read some of the comments and one guy said, economy people in business class - What a snob.. Anyhow, keep filming.. I enjoy watching your reviews.
Thanks for your comment mate 👍 It looks indeed a bit outdated compared to today's business class, it nonetheless a good experience. The noise is indeed typical for the older generation jets. I don't really mind it but there is enough noise to disturb the IFE sound coming from the headset. As for for the guy sitting next to me: he was fine with me filming. I told him what it was for.
As far for the "economy people in business class" comments: there will always be haters. I try to give people like that as little attention as possible ☺️

+Wade Pilkington Hi Wade, thank you for your comment! I paid a promo fare which was around the price of an economy flight. For that price I would do it again. You don't need to pay for any extras, it's all included. But keep in mind that the company operate 2 aircrafts, which means that in case of mechanical issues they don't have a spare aircraft to replace and your flight will be delayed. This will be compensated by the airline though. I also had to fly from Ams to Ltn for the flight, and on the way back from Ltn to Ams. One of the viewers commented that they also have regular issues with the IFE, like I did on the flight.
So if you are travelling direct from Ltn to Ewr and you can get a promo deal from them (they have promo deals on a regular basis), don't mind using/bringing some own IFE in case theirs fail and they can't replace it and don't have very important appointments in Nyc that you have to attend next day I think it's worth it.

I mean don't get me wrong, I ask this because at some point during my life I'd like to make a trip like this, to the other side of the planet for the fun of it, so this is why I ask what did they require of you prior to this? I know that every country has a different approach to their embassy but since I don't have friends from my country who've been there, I ask you did you have to go to the embassy or did you meet up with some customs officer or whatever ? :) Thanks in advance!
+Youtub3rh4x0r Cheers mate! The only pre requirement I had for this trip is apply for an Esta approval, which can be done online. You should look online what pre requirements you need as every country can have different pre requirements to enter the US.

I wonder how profitable they have been and wonder if they will expand into other U.S. markets popular with business travelers ; Chicago, Dallas, D.C, Atlanta ect.

It looks like Luton is not big on small spenders. Lots of people sitting on the floor. More chairs? "quite convenient" ?? Bring a cushion you might need it.
Sedona2014 The funny thing is they don't need to sit on the floor, there are more seats. What I saw was that people started to congregate at that point because the gate announcement came quite late, approximately half an hour before departure. So after the annoucement was done everybody sitting in 'Hippy Avenue' races towards their gate to be the first in line. People sitting in the shopping area the last in line.
At the gates there were enough empty seats. I had no problem finding an empty seat, but had to keep an eye on my departing flight.

Not a great product. I saw in my life many Economy class much better than this biz, of course compared with the price we're used to paid it. I just see a business class cabin with an economy class service. Not good.

Thanks for the comment mate 👍 While you have a valid point there, the low pax load is a huge difference compared to a normal long haul flight. The boarding and debording process is far more quicker. It also definately doesn't feel as you are flying in economy class. In my opinion an economy comfort-ish business class. For the price I payed I would definately fly with them again.

That was a video that did not really interest me...the reason is....You did not show me your experience.....instead you showed me what they were offering with no descriptions...maybe good for the deaf with all do respect. Glad you enjoy your flight.

I can't see this airline lasting long sadly...thinking back to the likes of Silverjet, Maxjet & Eos, they lasted around a couple of years each or thereabouts; also as these airlines were flying in / out of the smaller mainly LCC used London airports, it looks a little "out of place" maybe...something like at least 3 aircraft used in rotation around each other, and as for seating, something along the lines of part economy / part premium economy (as opposed to full business), open up the airline to more passengers, especially those on smaller budgets

flymilad93 Thank you mate 👍 The experience was certainly not bad. The faulty IFE was definately a big disappointment. Given a working IFE it's a decent product for preium economy prices in my opinion. It lacks certain small details you will find flying business class at Qatar Airways for instance, but the whole experience beats flying economy in my opinion.

A very interesting and very good video. My fear would be if the plane had a major problem which involved a change of aircraft...how many planes does this company have, could they deal with 2 planes out of service?...This is what I would be thinking before I thought about a ticket purchase.

Could they deal with 2 planes out of service? No because they only have 2 airplanes. 1 is for their Cdg-Ewr service and the other for the Ltn-Ewr service. The day before I flew to Ewr the plane should have flown to Ewr but due to technical issues with the plane there was no plane available and the flight was cancelled. As I understood the passengers were given the choise to either get their money back or take the next days flight and get a free ticket in the future as compensation. A hotel and mealvouchers were provided for the passengers who choose to fly the next day.
It was an interesting experience in the end, glad I took the trip!

So you will be like over 6.5 foot tall ? ;) I fly to AMS on Sunday then I'm on that Qatar inaugural flight on Tuesday...though I'm English AMS is my international airport... it's cheaper and easier than LHR...plus I live in Newcastle so flying to AMS is about the same time as flying to LHR.

Interesting video, yet another attempt at an all-biz service that cuts too many corners. Angled flat seats are so 2005 - sleep is almost impossible on these types of seat, it has to be flat bed or nothing. The only airline that seems to be making thus model work is OpenSkies, and even they had to switch to a 3-class service, presumably for financial reasons.

Nice report ! The first time I saw a report on La Compagnie. Don't you wrote to and landing time or the flight time ? Personally, I think that they don't have a lot of potential : when you look how much flights from London or Paris in destination to New York you get with very good airlines, I think I would pay a bit more to fly in a better way. Hello. No about the airline. I will try also to film. How was the crew? I am flying out from Paris to New York. 1300euro R/T (promo ticket) amazing!
The crew was ok and the overall experience is positive imo. I'm not really a fan of IFE tablets, but that's my preference. The only thing is because they operate only 2 aircrafts in case of a technicial issue with an aircraft they can't replace the aircraft meaning either delay or re-routing.
I paid around €890 R/T promo ticket by the way. Enjoy the trip!

weberrulez They are angled flat seats, they will recline but at an angle.
