    Lots of good info! Loved the video.... We don't have that many jacks where I fish, they're fewer but bigger in average. Then again we fish the beaches where there are a lot of rocks and not estuaries. One interesting thing about Jacks is that at one spot they feed very well during the incoming tide, but feed very well on the outgoing tide in another spot about half an hour away. We hit them at the first spot during the incoming tide and crush them in the second spot later during the outgoing tide. It is also interesting how they never took poppers in one spot, but crush them in the other.

What set up would you recommend? Thanks

    Hiya bro. Very informative video. Thanks. I have a question, but it's off topic
    Just wondering if you had any recommendations of a trolling battery. I'm running a 45lb minn Kota electric motor (old town predator kayak minn kota set up). Any advice would be welcome. Thanks mate. Luc (northern NSW)

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  4 роки тому

      Hi bro. My advice isn’t run of the mill on this. So it’d be worth talking with someone in the know. I don’t run deep AGM cycle batteries. They’re way too expensive for mine. I get second hbd truck batteries from boys who have to exchange em out and add in some inox battery conditioner and run them. I don’t run em down past 1/3 in a session and top charge em back up straight away. It works for me and us saved me a time of cash over the years cause I’ve got 5 or 6 at any one time. The best way to go now would probably be a 50-100 ah lithium battery set up though to be fair. As long as it’s reasonable price. Last for ages apparently.

    Great video mate, thank you very much! quick question, i have been fishing 40lb braid and leader for both plastics and HB's - do you think Jack's are influenced by leader size like bream for example? Many thanks

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  5 років тому +2

      Hi Stan. I reckon they are mate. They very rarely if ever get caught in nets which says a lot about their behaviour too. I usually run 20lb in clearer water. In the dirty stuff it’s not so much of an issue. Sometimes you need the heavy line to pull em clear of the cover though eh

  • @aussiecue
    @aussiecue 5 років тому

    Hey Mate, Ive started to practice this Skip casting and Ive come up against a problem. I get over run if I don't thumb the spool as soon as the plastic first hits the water. Allowing it to skip a few feet means I cant thumb until it's skipped and in the zone or aim point. To stop this I have to wind the spool break right up to a point where it will still cast but drastically shorter distance. I use a calcutta 101b running 20pnd braid on a shimano cranx Travel baitcaster 6'0" 6-10kg. Do you think it is correct to require more spool brake than what one would normally dial in?

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  5 років тому

      Hey mate. It definitely helps to feather the spool with your thumb to gently control it at the mat first moment of contact with the water. Having a lighter probably medium action or soft tip rod helps to load a skipping cast up. I’ll put another detailed video up in the coming weeks to nail down some more of the details around it. I run a 3-6kg rod. It’s a bit too light but good for that slinging action.

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  4 роки тому

      Hey bro. I reckon the larger ones for sure if you’re using a baitcaster. If you’re running a spinning outfit then the smaller ones also will be ok. Not as easy but still worth having. Good luck mate ;) it’s a game changer once you dial it in. Changed the way I enjoy Summer that’s for sure
