Review: 2019 Chevy Camaro V6 1LE

- I review the refreshed 2019 Chevrolet Camaro in its RS V6 1LT trim with the 1LE package. Thanks to Shyam (@wcdetailcenter on IG) for letting me review his car! The 6th gen Camaros have always been great handling cars, and the SS 1LE was even better. Now, Chevy has applied the 1LE package to the lighter V6 and 4 cylinder Camaros, making them some of the best handling Camaros yet. This V6 version has a great sound thanks to the dual-mode exhaust, and I'm glad that Chevy has kept around the V6 version. What do you think of the Camaro V6 1LE?

Finally a decent review of the V6, which is underrated. Many won't admit it but 335 HP is quite enough for most people unless you race your Camaro regularly.
I agree even something like a brz/86 is more than enough power for most people, but hey gotta have that 700 horsepower
@@dominicancheif117 true. Lol. Those 86/BRZs are fun lil cars at tracks. I don't think I'd wanna abuse something that comes as high powered as a ZL1 tho. Lol.
no you can have a nice V8 and enjoy it very well daily driving it i own a 19 Mustang GT.
@@davidestrada7337 you can enjoy any car, if it's the car that you wanted. HP just a number & price tag honestly. I'm sure you don't use all 460 of your HP daily driving every day unless you're a reckless driver by nature.
@@davidestrada7337 yes you can but when do you use all those 460 horses? I've driven a GT and its fun for 6 seconds but that's it..lol
What's not to like? Handles great, 335 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds, sounds awesome.
Good gas mileage
Robert Jakicic except it’s a v6
@@stunna_CODM This v6 is proven to last well over 100k and makes good enough power for what is it
Clorox God my 2012 5.0 lasted over 130k miles until I put a gen 2 in it. V8s can last too
COYOTE swap or you get DEPORTED v8 sounds good, but so do other engines. Being a car guy means appreciating all sorts of vehicles and always wanting to drive them.
It’s crazy how much higher the interior door line is than your shoulder.
They have awful visibility like driving a tank.
Defy Convention The visibily isn’t as bad as you think. Once you get used to it, it’s natural
Raise the dang seat. I own one. Raise the seat so your head is still 2 inches below the roof, and my sight level is higher than half the sedans or coupes I pass.
I like that about it tbh😂
True.
Back in 2016 I purchased a 2lt RS v6 Dual Mode Exhaust Camaro with 6-speed manual and you are right on the money with this review. It is a joy to drive on the straight or curved road. It is lighter, quicker, and has more horsepower(335 > 325) than my 1964 GTO had back in the day. And the sweet exhaust sound encourages you to put the pedal to the metal while you are wrapped up in a responsive, comfortable, modern environment. The interior is quiet, devoid of rattles and squeaks and the sound system is very good. All this with a naturally aspirated, direct injected, v6 that will run on regular gas and can easily get twice the gas mileage as my old muscle car. Voice commands can control the hands-free info system, phone, and radio and the grandkids love connecting to the built-in wifi hotspot with their I-Pads.
I get the same look on my face as you do Matt when I run through the gears. I agree that the v6 is the sweet spot in this Camaro lineup.
The v6 is a fun car, really faster than older v8s. 335hp is more than a stock 4th gen z28 had. Also is sounds fantastic, uses regular gas instead of premium. also cheaper tires and maintenance.
It does too use premium, tires are run flats Z rating I have a 2020 v6 as well.
@@unboxingwithpaul you dont have to use premium. And it makes no difference in hp with the v6, the v6 recommends regular unleaded gas. The turbo 4 and v8 however do recommend premium gas. You can run them on regular, but you get a drop in hp.
Nope, just bought a 20 3lt 1le, it definitely says to use premium.
My v6 said to use regular unleaded gas. Even my dealership told me too.
Is yours the 2.0? 2.0 recommends premium. 3.6 does not.
You're here for 7:42
He didn't giggle much so its slow.
😂🤣
Wow man thats a v6. The v6 models of the Mustang and Camaro have come a looooong way from the ones i remembered back in the 90s and early 00s.Theyre beautiful now!
Buy a v8 stop being a lil bitch
@@dangleesak1026 i own one bitch
Agreed. They’re actually a good buy these days. I’d be perfectly happy with one of these.
Ya no shame in a v6 anymore. Which is great. But I'm still getting a SS 1le
I think ford stopped making mustangs with a v6 if I remember correctly after 2017 I think.
I purchased a 2019 V6 RS back in March and absolutely love it. The V6 is so underestimated. It's a blast to drive. Great review Matt!!
Have you driven the V8s? If you think the V6 is underestimated the V8 will blow your mind!
@@_LEONKING_ I have! I love the V8 too don't get me wrong.
Definitely a sleeper among Wolfs.
How you liking it after 4 years ?
@@negadiv6306 Love it today just as much as the day I drove it off the Lot!
Sounds great for a V6. I'd take a manual V6 1LE over an auto SS all day
Whenever I hear people complaining about a Camaro or Mustang not being a V8, I think about that one annoying kid in class that pretends to know everything and no one likes them because of that. :)
Ahah Dam G Thats 💯
My grandfather told me about the time he bought a brand new Camaro and it was an inline-six back in the sixties and he got laughed at in High School
@@CirocObama.94 an inline 6 Camaro sounds like it would be kinda badass
I think the V6 is up to 355 hp now. I have an SS 1LE and it's amazing but massive overkill for a daily driver, the V6 makes more sense for that use.
You must not know how to drive if you think it’s overkill
@@bricklayerlzdp9825 Lol, my race results say otherwise. You're another idiot making comments having no idea who he's speaking to. Reminds me of all the idiot dogs who tried to dominate my pit over the years. Just another wanna-be loser.
The mustang and camaro v6's are fantastic now days. Anything from 2011 up is great
mustang stops making v6 brother. only 2.3 ecoboost or 5,0 gt
@@killerkett i know i mean 2011-2017
The V6's were on hold at the Chevy dealers at start of Nov 2019 due to some emissions thing. When that is lifted it would be well worth getting one for around $25k brand new. I'd get the new 10 speed auto, base model, lowest trim, it'd do for me. There are great savings to be had on servicing costs in comparison to a V8 Camaro. It is half as much for a 6000ml service and 2/3rd as much for a 12000ml service. So for high mileage drivers some big savings, the car insurance would no doubt be cheaper as well. And of cause it'd be much cheaper in the first place.
Anything can kick off in the Arab Oil world, Oil could go up to $100 a barrel, in which case the better mpg of a V6 would make it more desirable, especially with the trade in value, if traded in at the time of high Oil prices, in comparison to the V8. The Chevy V6 Camaro should be good enough for anyone, if purchased new cheaply, one of the best bang for buck muscle type cars in the US you can get. Were I able I would get one.
I'd sooner have a C8 Corvette but settle for a V6 Camaro any day of the week. Especially for around $25k. State what you will pay, have the finances to hand, the dealer would be daft not to take your money, they can get hold of almost as many as they can sell, if they hold out for a set amount of profit and want to load it up with Nitrogen filled tyres etc, just walk away.
Sounds really good! Coming from a 5.0 owner
Nice unbiased review based on what the car actually gives you. I love my V6 Camaro and the LGX is also a very stout engine to modify.
Define stout, its forged?
@@Carlos.Rivera not from the factory but based on the fact of the whp the stock block can handle it's a stout engine.
@@HyperHawkCamarowould you mind filling me in on what whp it can handle? Kinda need to know while building
I think the styling of the rs v6 actually looks better than the ss, before and after the refresh. The ss is all grill.
Finally some does a review on a v6 manuel camaro I asked Sofiane bay but he never does a review
Yeah I been wanting a review on this car for ages. Raiti’s ride has done recently as well if your interested
Yep
That sofaine guy is lame as fuck anyway lol
No one cares about the V6 variant
This is for people that cars about the v6 only and if you don’t like it then you never should of said anything
Got my 18 1le v6, love it!!
Fuel consumption??
@@drrb4ever depends on driving style. Spirited driving I'll get 17-20. Normal driving and I'll get around 24. Freeway I'll get about 30.
crimsonking905
Amazing thank you very much
@AKAT1980 its not. Even the 1le doesn't.
@AKAT1980 I'm not entirely sure. I think one of Randy Pobst's comments was not liking how long 3rd gear was. Its hard to find info.
It does shift amazingly though very easy to drive
Good looking package. Wheels look great. 🔥
I can't believe there are still people on here picking on the V6 after 6th gen has been out for 4 years. Everybody knows the V6 and 2.0T camaros are sick AF for the money. Please grow up.
Brian Lear Maaaan you are so f’n right!
Your right af. I drove both and they are fun af and more then enough. Part of the reason I got my SS (only part) is because I didn’t wanna get kicked by the “real muscle”
The v6 is badass. I drove one for 3 years. Very fun, sounds like a muscle car. Plenty fast.
Because the V6 is built better than the V8 as well. Just like Dodge, Chevy put the same parts on the v6 as the V8 and they V8 pushes too much torque for alot of the parts on them.
Work in the automotive industry enough and you'll find that the same parts like engine mounts and pulleys are all the same from the 4cyl to the V8.
You can push a v6 and not ever worry about breaking it. Where a V8 you need to not only be careful, but know that Everytime you hit the gas, you're throwing fuel out the exhaust. Get a V6 and throw on a supercharger
. You now have more power, reliability, affordability, and fun as a V8
@@jamesloehr641 sounds nothing like a muscle car 🤣
I agree. I just put a killer Bilstein Nordschliffe suspension on my 1LT V6 6 speed manual and changed my rear lights and diffuser and I have the SS wing. For just having fun on backroads you don't need a $32,000 V6 with the base screen and I/P. I spent $25,000 and have gloss black rims and a splitter with Riverside Blue paint it's a knockout.
Lol true but that car in the review was mine and bought it for 28k out of the door in 2019. I think it's well worth it with the fe3 suspension components and the extra cooling mods. I tracked this car just stock with some gripier wheels and it took all the abuse with no overheating or any other issues. Also had my warranty intact so 🤷♂️. I had the bigger screen and the bose audio system and better wheels than the RS IMO.
As someone that drives a large dump truck, I have no issues with the rear visibility. And I owned a 2016 Camaro. Put a couple little convex mirrors on the side mirrors and your blind spots are eliminated. They cost about 4-5 dollars. Loved my Camaro and wish I still had it
I've owned my 2012 camaro for about 5 months. It actually got 28.9 mpg, on a highway trip. I read in a review, it's 324 hp, and 290 ft . It's at 6800 rpm, so it's kinda a high winding little motor. I would recommend it to anyone, who wants a great daily driver. Really enjoyed your video. Thanks Bro.
The car in video was mine and I sold her in August and oh boy do I miss her. Loved the car but the value on these shot up like crazy and I had to sell her for 4K more than what I bought the car for after 2 years and 20000 miles on the car. Hopefully the new owner enjoys her as much as I did. :)
Did the same with my SS1le
I just bought a new 2024 3.6L V6 Camaro and I absolutely love it.
That exhaust sounds really decent. Way better than the ecostang or 4cyl Camaro. If I couldn't afford an SS this would be my choice out of the three Muscle cars.
@C T Ecostang better than the 4cyl Camaro? Yes no doubt. I'd opt for the v6 Camaro. Unless you plan on doing mods. Ecostang FTW.
Saw one of these today. Looked great.
The NA V6 will definitely outlast the Turbo 4. So the question is do you want well equipped V6 or bare bones V8?
The V8 no matter what.
V6
V8 1LE all day
@@WWMMWWWMMMWWWWMMMM They were talking about the 1LT V8
I agree. Well equipped V6 for me.
My favorite review by Matt Marren!
hi Matt. nice vid. liked before watching b/c i knew it was goin to be good
Owned a 2015 camaro for two years and if you like to have your seat laid back more extremely hard to see if you don't mind sitting straight up you can see everything pretty good just advice
Watching this again. Ordering my 2022 V6 camaro MANUAL tomorrow FUCK YES!
10 mins in and finally you talk about the package your reviewing lol. Good Job bro.
Matt grew up from Subaru WRX fan?? Did i miss when this happened? Great review on the RS 1le... as always Matt is the man😁
Thanks man! Switched the channel over in 2017.
@@MattMaranMotoring I remember when you got the Bullitt. Guess i missed the name change. You're sheer joy with cars is what is so special about your channel. Don't lose that its rare in you tube world. Thank you for keeping that boyhood wonder in all you see. Its how alot of us feel. I have a 2016 RS 2LT. Its definitely got a fun personality. Chevy got it right with the Alpha platform for sure😁
Hey Matt...just want to say I love your reviews!
i bought a v6 slapped an after market exhaust its my daily driver i love it. best car i have bought.
I bought a v6 1le for the track and it doesn't disappoint. With a track alignment and some better brake fluid you're ready to go. The OEM tires are same as on the SS so you can get takeoff sets for next to nothing and ferodo pads are excellent and will outstop the stock tires. I let my videos do the talking.
For spirited road use, would you go with the V6 1LE or the LT1 based purely on fun to drive? How is the 1LE for long distance cruising? Is the ride punishing?
@@nk1506 if you just want a cruiser, go with an LT, but get the dual mode exhaust, and if you like to row your gears the manual is decent. If you are leaning toward a 1LE test drive first, I love mine, taking it to Atlanta Motorsports Park in October
@@R8ze Thanks JT. I am looking for an agile car that is fun to toss around a bit on country roads in the northeast -- that is to say, twisty, sometimes well-surfaced, sometimes frost-heaved roads -- like the back road Matt is testing on in the video. Balanced handling is more of an interest than brute power, but also a reasonable level of comfort on the decrepit interstates with broken expansion joints and crudely patched potholes that are endemic here. I am unlikely to track it. Would this be a good way to go, or would I be better with a GTi, for instance?
@@nk1506 I'd recommend test them and see which works best for you as they are very different cars...Camaro and GTI as you mentioned.
I believe the V6 1LE has the FE3 pkg with this model which includes the Magnetic shocks and limited slip differential just like the Cadillac ATS with Performance/Premium pkg But I could be wrong because maybe it is an available option with the 1LE. I have the Caddy Performance Premium and it is loaded with the Mag shocks, limited slip, heads up display, brembo brakes, ect.
It’s got the fe3 suspension components and brembos but not the magnetic dampers. The HUD can be had in higher variants. This one is a base 1LT with the 1LE package.
You believe wrong it doesn't have magnetic ride.
@@chickenmuffin too bad. it makes a huge difference in the corners.
*_7:42_**_ uh oh Some pulls and a backroad_*
Such a great car...just hate the blind spot that will have you leaning forward and backwards to make safe right or left turns from intersections and that trunk opening, while cool looking, is just so horrible to place baggage in.
Why did it look so bad when it was revealed last year... this front looks good tbh
The ss had the ugly grill the v6 and 2.0t has this front end.
You saw the ss
This is my next car. Exactly this. Either white, blue, or orange and gotta be 3LT. Just gotta find one!
How many cars on the road have 335hp, maybe 10 percent. I think it’s the perfect enthusiast’s daily. Regular gas, less insurance and maintenance. Sounds good and 0-60 in 5. I want one
I really like the overall look of this car with the black hood, white body and new grill. It sounds outstanding for a V6. But overall I think this should have been offered as purely an appearance option. The problem is the market for manuals is very small now and the people who buy manuals also tend to think 8 cylinders are mandatory as well. It was a nice gesture by Chevy to offer the 1LE in the turbo 4 and V6 but I don't think it was a smart business decision on their part.
I was going to get the new 2022 Toyota GR86, when it comes out..but, for the same price ill get this instead.
*5:00* you actually can fit a smart phone in there surprisingly, I have an iPhone 10s max and it just fits in there while plugged in to the charger
That v6 would smack a lot of v8’s from 10 years ago
I'm a mitsubishi fanboy
But I was driving down to jones beach on Robert moses. A long straight road by the bay. And it was a heavy fog day. The fog was pretty heavy and the haze would come into affect after about a 500ft or so. I was driving pretty fast in my V6 Japanese first car, feeling like a badass. Then a Camero comes up behind me hauling ass. I let him pass. But I kept up with him. Seeing that red camero in that fog made me change my mind about American cars that day. The Camero came back on to the list of cars I would look into and its the only American car on that list.
It was between the bitsubishi and the comaro for me as well but I went with the comaro. Couldn't afford the v8 much less the town I live in has no roads for a v8 unless I go 10 miles away to have fun with it plus I believe that the v6 has better handling.
Even under light acceleratiom when you're just cruising and talking, the car sounds great. And it's 200lbs lighter than the SS. What's not to like?
Matt you need to fill us in on some great driving roads in the Pittsburgh area! I see that you were driving this car through Cranberry Twp. I work up there lol
Chevy was dumb to discontinue the V6 1LE. Less weight in the front made it the most agile and tossable Camaro.
Doug Demuro is the best when it comes to showing cars. But I got to admit, Matt Maran will also be my new Go To guy.. I'm going to hit the Subscribe button now!
Thanks Jay! I really appreciate that!
I prefer Matt because he actually DRIVES the damn car, has fun doing it, and actually takes them to redline. Doug spends 45 minutes on the fucking door knobs and then drives like a grandma in the last 30 seconds while talking about how tall he is and can't see shit. It's the worst.
Even Randy Pobst himself just got a turbo 1le camaro like last week lol.
I jus bought 2021 1le recaro seats it’s bad ass
7:45 gang
I love that V6 versions of muscle cars and pony cars are really good these days. You could throw a supercharger on these if you wanted to, and you still get the advantages of the V6, while having the power of the V8, if you wanted it.
throw a procharger on a v6 and it sounds amazing
u can get a V12 on tht too
Briayan Meza just a small price to pay. Some may even prefer the v6 sound over the v8
joe smoe exactly
Nobody realizes that Chevy built and delivered the Z car/Supra variant with a lusty NA v6 that everybody wanted at this price point. I own a v8 Chally and 8th gen Si, a great chassis and a great sounding high revving motor = :) :) :). I would daily this all day long at it's used price! Trying to decide if I should get one of these Chevy 350 Z's or find a Veloster N.
I hope you bought the camaro!
I just purchased a 2020 model. My only complaint is the seats don't recline past sitting position.
How is it to daily?
Feel quick?
How’s the mpg?
GM should update the gauge cluster and include the leather-wrapped knee pads from the 2LT/2SS on ALL Camaro models. And while I like the steering wheel, the trim piece on the bottom of the steering wheel should be upgraded from plastic to Galvano.
@Trevon Adams: I don't believe I'm asking for too much.
Bro… stop acting like the v6 1LE isn’t better than the ecoboost. And the 1LE shines on a whinny road. Lol all you ecoboost guys like to drive straight ! Lol much love g. Keep putting out the great content. And expand into other fields too! Keep innovating
I’d consider buying one.
The only thing the 1le option needs to be perfect is if they add the auto rev match from the ss/zl1.
I agree I still may get one though, perfect car for a soon to be college grad like me. I want a driver's car but obviously budget is limited. I'll take this over a brz/frs any day personally
just bought a 22 2LT RS and love it
My first car is gonna be one of those
Which have the best quality interiors? Camaro, mustang or Challenger?
I compared them in this video a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/7kItS0bgpH4/v-deo.html In my opinion the Mustang is the nicest.
It looks aggressive I don't know why people don't like this new look.
Which makes the better enthusiast's car: the V6 1LE or the LT1? The price of the two versions is similar, at least before discounts, but I imagine the driver feel is very different. How does the better balanced but less powerful 1LE with its chassis tuning, staggered summer tire setup, etc. compare to the 6.2L thumper with its symmetrical all-seasons? Which would you choose?
Thanks. No one talks about the V6. It’s either 4 cyl or V8.
Murders the Mustang 🚀🏆
There is a stop sale on the 2020 v6 - the 2020 v6 remains unchanged from 2019 ..... also I remember seeing a video about the 2018 v6 engine failures -not enough for a stop sale but enough that people are having problems finding replacements
How does it handle in the winter time. Do it have snow mode.
I really love that hood where can I get one of those exact same hoods? Anyone know thanks 🙏🏼
You just wrap any hood in black...
Get the 6 speed if you buy one
This will be easy since the 1LE is only available in 6 speed lol.

Im here in september 2024 looking for a 2020 camaro. They have 60k miles on then and people still want $24k for them. Its crazy. Watching your video, thats what they cost new!
Great review Matt. Been in these cars and u really really like them. It's a great v6
Hey Matt, your that man!
Love that white on black
That’s what she said
Great Review I saw one of theses at night and the Led Headlights are great.
Wish Chevy made those options available in the Gen 5 RS.
Hi guys,
May I know the difference between 1LE and 3LT? thanks.
1LE is a performance package that you can add to any of the three trims (1LT,2LT,3LT) . You get the 4 piston brembo brakes from the SS , Fe3 suspension components from the SS and a few other goodies with a summer only staggered setup. Basically it's an SS Camaro with a V6 engine.
Thanks for the response. One more thing. Difference between ZL1 and 3LT? Is that the same? Here we have 3LT but no ZL1..
@@jdot4799 3LT is the highest trim you can get with the turbo 4 or the V6. After that is the LT1 which is a V8 in that same style. Above that are the 1SS and 2SS (both with V8s and other extras; the 2SS will have more creature comforts). The ZL1 is a monster with a supercharged V8.
3LT is a trim package, 1LE is a track package. 3LT will have all the best tech and interior AND the 1LE track package.
@@jdot4799 Yo the ZL1 is the V8 with a supercharger. You need to just read what's on the website honestly.
You know why they dont sell well? Marketing department at GM sucks. And the fanboy culture is strong as hell nowadays
Everything has become cult-like. Politics, cars, tv, movies. There is no middle ground, no reasoning, just black or white, night or day.
This is so true.
They need a twin turbo v6 option
Twin Turbo v6 from the ATS would be amazing 😍
Take a shot every time Matt says something is"nice."
Loves v6s ain’t nothing wrong with them 🤷♂️great gas and daily driver even tho I don’t own this one I own a 97 v6 camaro .. wish it was a v8 but my luck right
Can anybody tell me what is better between Camaro 1lt v6 and challenger GT ?? With an explanation!!!
Which one should you buy? Turbo 4 premium gas or v6 regular unleaded gas? Can someone tell me?
I’d go with the V6!! No comparison
Personally I think this is one of the better looking Camaro generation at least in i4 and v6 version
SS without the V8 basically 🤔
@C T cool but no thanks.
Is it going to rain?
Dude can barely peek over the door sills. At 5'9" I suffered the same problem on test drive. It was very disappointing, as I really liked the package.
I'm surprised it doesn't have the magnetic lock suspension.
I think GM was trying to keep cost down
i test drove the 2020 v6 10spd. i loved it til i got on the highway and there was a significant delay to the acceleration. sounds like it make be the AFM which turns off some cylinders.
No it's pedal lag. Get a pedal commander and it's great.
Where can I the black RS badge
Great car add a tune for 30 to 50 HP more and a bigger wing and good to go.
Tune ? Don't think it will make that extra HP.
Supercharger would be awesome thou
2017 just looks so much nicer
meh.
Its a great performance car for your dollar but my concern is it's reliability and poor resale value.
