.I like the natural sound of Ann's garden, the birds, the wind. Ann's enthusiasm and passion for bonsai is addicting. Hi, Jeannine from California.
Thank you Jeannine
I really like your videos. I’m sure English was not your first language but your very easy to listen to! I’m like you, just can’t get enough of my trees!
Thank you for you support
You will never have enough of them too
I feel your passion coming thru. ❤ As I downsize from full size yard with a garden shed & koi pond to jus few patios I am now doing container gardening. I bought a cute tiered bamboo shelf & started on my bonsai journey at the age of almost 75. It’s very addictive & I am pleasantly surprised at how much I am learning from online videos. Imagine my surprise when I found a beautiful Japanese bonsai nursery less than 4 miles away. Thank you! 😬
That is awesome!
Lucky you. We can't have Koi in Melb Australia.
Stuck with goldfish
I'm new to the world of bonsai and i have to say just digging up my little oak sappling was fun and i can't wait to get it started on training it and shaping it. I also started some cuttings of my azaleas that i had in my yard as well. Loved hearing your story can't wait till i have my own
Welcome and good luck with your cutting too

Beautiful trees so many to look after and develop, I have worked with bonsai for about the same amount of time as yourself, my collection is smaller but no less loved, I am 81 now but still able thank god to look after them, when my wife of 52 years died, bonsai was my salvation it was the reason to get up early in the morning to make sure my collection is doing well. It is lovely to see a woman presenting bonsai there is not enough women involved with bonsai so thank you for sharing your trees and passion with us. This is the first presentation of your channel I have watched but it will not be the last.

Absolutely incredible story and journey - thank you. If you don't mind, I will include this in my 'Top 7 Bonsai Questions' playlist where quite a few bonsai creators have answered similiar questions. One of the biggest contributers in this is Nigel Saunders and we also have Sam from Aussi Bonsai Bloke. I love what you do and how you present it. Cheers
Can I please have a think over it first then get back to you on this?
Thank you your thoughts

Nice...your kolection....thanks shared vidio... 13:01
Thanks for visiting I’m glad to do so
I agree with your comments about we needing them and they needing us. Each season is rewarding and it does come down to understanding your individual trees, knowing them very well. This is my ninth year and I have collected about fifty, some started from seed, some dug up, some purchased. Although there are a few more I would like to have, I think the ones I have are good enough for me. I have set a few free when I thought they would be happier in the ground, but still keeping them nearby. Do they speak to me? I think they do.
100% agree with you they do :)
Thank you for visiting my Chanel
Beautiful
Thank you
Thanks Ann for the back story, interesting and informative. Would be interested in building a forest bonsai video, sometime. Cheers
Hi Peter I did post a beech forest up a few days go
ua-cam.com/video/kJ8AoOefKrU/v-deo.html
I think you’ve done quite well. You have a beautiful collection. I wish we were neighbors. I regret a little that I didn’t start Bonsai sooner in my life, but I started Bonsai 18 years ago and I can’t wait every day to do the next task. Now I’m wiring and training yamadori American hornbeam and it ain’t easy, but persistence will allow me to finish. Thank you for your videos, they’re really nice. By the way, my mother is Vietnamese and she was the one who taught me to grow.
Thank you so much!
Hi Ann, yes i have watched that video but would like to see more of a variety of ways to build forest styles, maybe with Aust. natives. Cheers...
Will do more in coming days 😅
Great video just subbed! 😎👍

I started with rescuing an 8-10yr old western white pine from the side of the road, it had been topped a couple times. Transplanted it into a homemade development pot a couple days ago and about to get a bad cold snap. Not a lot of information about this species but I look forward working with it if it survives the winter. Went to the hardware store for wire, accidentally came home with 14 more plants. So many different beautiful plants for pretty cheap that will let me practice different techniques and styles.
Just some feedback on editing in case it was missed, at around the 5:30-7:30 in the video there seems to be a filter turned on to the blur the background. It is also blurring the tree you are displaying making it hard to see properly. If that's the case I recommend standing behind the plant you are displaying, turn the filter off, or use a camera that will do the effect with a lens instead of adding the effect afterwards. So far I'm loving the videos!
Thank you for visiting my Chanel

Amazing story!! I wish I was more patient when I was younger.. I always was fascinated with bonsai but when I went to the library to check out some books on bonsai I became discouraged with how long it took to grow a Specimen like I saw in the books.. now that I'm in my 40s the bug has struck me so hard I've Accumulated more than a hundred trees in under three years. I have no clue how I'm going to go on vacation lol... who will water my new children hehehehe 😊
I can’t help you with that :)
But good friends are great when you needs :)
Thank you so much for sharing your story . I love hearing the sensitive feminine perspective as well, inspiring and affirming my relationship with the trees. My first tree was a Japanese Larch which is now 27 years in my care. It’s been through the ups and downs in my life and I have been there for the tree during many transitions and an almost devastating fungal infection, it’s thriving now. You are inspiring, so glad to have found your channel. I lost a lovely Sierra Juniper , still unsure as to what happened. I need to figure it out , so sad for the tree.
I’m so happy to meet so many thru this would you kindly sent me a photo of your juniper ? To see if I can tell you what happened closeup to soil if u can bottom of the pot that I die in
They are very easy to care for
Thank you for your reply. I cannot seem to find where to send a photo of my tree. There is no camera icon in the comment section. My other junipers are growing well. It’s this High Sierra juniper which failed after 2 years. I live in Michigan where it is more humid and rainy during the summer. The original pot is small and quite shallow. After viewing a few more of your videos, i’m wondering if the water was insufficient not reaching the center roots, or running off the pot edge. One person thought fungal, but I think was the roots. I had back budding 2 weeks ago but that now fading. Decision is to remove from the pot, it’s mid summer where I live, or wait awhile. All other lower altitude junipers are well. I will keep looking for camera icon to send pictures. Does your channel allow photos? Thank you very much for advise.
Can you sent me on my Facebook messenger?
@@MadamBonsai2023 Yes I will send Photos in messenger. Thank you!
Perfect 😊no matter about ours ages would be great if you are in Melbourne
Thank you
Come to Melbourne we can talk about plants all day :)
really very beautiful story !it is very important where we started and the first influences !
i would like to ask you if you could mention information about pine trees ! regarding their collection period (yamadori) and post collection care . step by step so that your experience can save as many trees as possible . it saddens me to no end when it seems that it does not go well with a tree i have collected during its healing. I wouldn't want to do it with the pine tree , I have an area ( Greece) of very beautiful trees that could become very beautiful in the future ! I wouldn't want to rely on my instinct and collect them . I would greatly appreciate if you could share information about collecting , the moisture of the soil where the tree should be and also the location in relation to the sun where the tree should be during the healing period ! thank you for your videos and I feel very beautiful when I see your videos !
Thank you so much for yours visiting my Chanel
Yes I’ll upload most of my days of bonsai works so you can see one variety at the time ok
All the way from Greece 😅

You know, Madam Bonsai, I think we might be around the same age. I left Vietnam back in the early 80s. But, it's funny, I only really got into bonsai a few years ago. I'd love to dive in more when I've got some extra time on my hands.
Thanks for sharing
