  • Lights on wings added after purchase. Great, and easy to fly plane from E-flite.

    Those lights are really cool.

I think it's a good 2nd plane. IMO, the Carbon Cub S2 is a much better starter. All it want's to do is climb out of the box, it can fly super slow even w/o flaps with SAFE turned on, and it is incredibly sporty to fly if you upgrade to 40amp esc, 4s, and 3x11x8 prop. The Valiant is a little less on 3s, than the CC S2 is on 4s. The Valiant on 4s is a handful with the 480 motor, and an animal with a Rimfire 15.

    So cool.

Cool aircraft and nice light installation, but if you are going to use red and green lights on the wings (like navigation lights) then green goes on the right wing and red on the left as viewed from the tail. If all you are going for is the "cool factor" then disregard. But if you plan to transition to commercial drone, manned aviation, or even boating, you will have some negative habit transfer to overcome. Best wishes.

Good to know, definitely was just going for the "cool factor" and visibility with these. I've looked into the commercial side of RC a bit in the past, for example something like drone photography as I have some background there, but never went too far down that path.

Looks like you are just south of me a ways. I'm in Tremonton. Putting the Valiant together tomorrow.

Wanting a new transmitter but I'm stuck between the ix12 and nx10 spektrums which would you get?

    • @nelsonhobbiesrc7720
      @nelsonhobbiesrc7720  3 роки тому

I've actually never used either (only used my Jumper T18), but both of those look like pretty solid options. Probably relatively similar, but I guess if you think you may need 12 channels the ix12 could be the way to go. I'd probably go with the nx10 personally though. Also worth looking into Radiomaster TX16 for a nice but probably cheaper option, just takes a bit more research to get things setup in OpenTX.

Yo can you share your settings for this plane....d/r and expo....flap percentages or did you just follow the manual recommendations?
    Thanks in advance.

For sure! It pretty much can fly like a trainer on low rates or almost a 3D plane on high rates, so depends a bit on how you want to fly it. Now that I’m comfortable flying it, I only keep it on high rates though.
      - Low rates: ailerons 75 % and 15% expo, elevator 80% and 15% expo, rudder 100% and no expo
      - High rates: ailerons 95% and 10% expo, elevator 100% and 10% expo, rudder 100%
Flaps were just assigned to a 3 position switch and were good default, just added a 2 second delay to slow it down

Awesome video. Love the lights. Where can I get some? And how did you power them?

@@nelsonhobbiesrc7720 Nice.. thanks..I also have the same plane as you.. The Valiant.. so you connected it to channel 5? I also have SAFE and use it since Im a beginner.. can I still run safe on channel 5 on my TX16S and power the lights? Thanks so much.

Sounds like you are running on open tx. Did you set up safe select on a switch ? If so could you PLEASE explain your process been having SO much trouble getting it correctly set on my TX16S. Thanks in advance!

Yep, I am indeed running on OpenTX. It's funny you ask, because I actually had the same experience and difficulty setting up safe select. In the end, I had enough trust in my flying ability to just fly without it setup, so I never actually figured out how to do that. I should give that another try to see if I can figure it out, would make a good tutorial video for sure.

@@nelsonhobbiesrc7720 would make a possible 'viral' video if you can get it figured out. Because the current demand of people actively searching for an answer I have found to be overwhelming. There are a few 2-4ish videos out there but IMO are not 'complete full package' or necessarily accurate.
Thanks for responding! Hope to hear back from you soon.
      Peace ✌️

Do you guys talk?? How can you say it’s a good beginner plane with no dialog.
