Just bought Ma the CS800-s one way for Her 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and bought the ignition bypass(data link) module with it. I'm just a 32 year heavy truck mechanic but have installed dozens of "Bulldog" starter systems in both gas and diesel vehicles. As a few have suggested, do some research. I choose the CS800 and the security bi pass module because it did not need (exterior-on line) programming. Granted, when it arrived it looked a bit intimidating compared to other systems I have installed but once I figured out what "With data link" or "without" meant (Confusing instructions). It just became a basic install. Unlike some Nissan and Toyota's, Dodge does not require the CS800 "door lock/unlock" feature to be installed making it even easier because the factory remote will still unlock the doors after start up unlike some of the latter. I like it. I would recommend this system "BUT" if Your not really familiar with electrical install and not confident, this is not the system for DIY.

You should bring it to a reputable install shop in your area. They might have to reprogram the remotes or check all the ignition lines to make sure the unit is getting power. Did your battery die in your vehicle and did you get a jump or replace the battery of the car?

On avg, 150-300 labour. I've done over $1,000 labour alone easy, but that's with all the bells and whistles (i.e. Smart Start/ Drone, Proximity sensor, window roll up/ down and the list goes on). It all depends on what you want done.

Have one of these systems on my civic. They are loud AF & can be annoying if you work on them in your garage. If they go off by accident in a garage you're going to be hearing aids! Now, they'll def deter a crimainl breaking in cause you can easily hear the sound from a block & half away in the dead of night.

  • @AnthonyJ350

Yes you will. Also the install shop will need to find out if you have an 80 bit or 40 bit key, with the new firmware it shouldn't matter though. They'll also need to bypass the clutch switch only during the remote start sequence (usually done with a relay). So when you use the key to start you push the clutch in still, but when you remote start the vehicle it won't need to be depressed.

+TheCanadianBubba -That'd be all plug and play ( or tapped }, yes ? so unhooking everything from the brain would essentially be just the factory setup ? or are some circuits interrupted by the system ?
Thanks in advance for your response : ]

+TheCanadianBubba Usually there are plugs to the unit, but the other end of the wires need to be spliced into the vehicle some how. Typically soldered. Why not just buy new remotes from an install shop and try to get it working, you said the install looks nice, might was well use it.

My only issue with all of these videos with the disclaimer as to you should have a professional install these is this...
I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser...I was pricing out remote starters all over town. I went to the following places. 3 Canadian Tires, 2 JB Power Centres, Aero Auto Parts and 3 Toyota dealerships. All of which priced out the remote start with installation including the bypass. Just as I was about to choose the best priced unit with install, I asked what is the bypass for? I was told by each of these businesses that perform professional installations that I needed the bypass for my transponder key. I then asked, in order to save money could I just buy the equipment and install it myself. The Canadian Tires and Toyota said no, that they must do it. JB said that the units would need to be programed and they would not do it unless they installed it. The price ranged from $270 to $650. Through my online FJ group I found out that my FJ should not have transponder keys. I then called a brand new Toyota dealership that was glad to give me all the information in regards to my FJ based on the vin number. Without any doubt my FJ has just regular keys...no chips ...no transponders. I was being asked to pay anywhere from $85 to $125 more the by-pass. I called the Canadian Tires, 1 Toyota dealership, and Aero back to get a new quote and they all insisted that my car needed the bypass and would not change their quote. So.. as a result..I bought my own Compustar kit and will install it myself along with a programming unit for $150 and will install it myself. The alarming thing is this...how many people that did not do the research and found out if their car needed actually this equipment were ripped off. These companies install hundreds if not thousands of the units and they do not "know" if your car needs this equipment or not?!? This has got to be the biggest scam running. If you are planning on getting one of these installed by a professional, do your own research for your own vehicle first! Because I doubt that not one of these professionals would have said sorry we made a mistake and we are going to lower your quote...or give you a refund.

POPPASHANGO To answer your statement, we do work on a lot of vehicles (I work at Visions Electronics) and most vehicles of your year do have transponder keys. If you look at Idatalink's website, your vehicle is listed so I can see why you were quoted out you need one. I've done installs on FJ's and realized it didn't need it so I just refunded the customer back their money.
Some times you won't know if it's a chipped key until you take the vehicle apart. Now I recommend you get a professional shop to do it because they'll probably do a better job (ask to see pictures of previous work) and they provide life time warranty on the workmanship and offer product support.
So I wouldn't just go around calling it a scam when most databases say your vehicle has it. Because most vehicle post 2001 in Canada do have transponder keys.
The questions I have for you is now if you're doing it yourself, 1)Does it work? 2)How long did it take you? 3)Does it do everything you want it to? 4) And how does the install look?

Maybe going to a shop that specializes in installing these units might give you better service than tire dealers, auto parts stores and new car dealerships. Just a thought.....

Possibly if installed incorrectly. Also a weak battery causes issues with low voltage situations.

As a @professiona@l, you should know, that antenna should not be installed in the matrix dots area, cause it deacreses the signal. so you are not, and this is why you are right-it should be installed by a professional)))))

Through experience it's negligible since people don't complain about range and I can easily get range from my truck a block away.
If you want even more range, put Drone Mobile in. What shop do you work for?

Fullrusher I don't recommend it. It took me years of practice to make it clean and reliable. The risk is damaging a BCM or the factory immobilizer.

Bad place for your hood pin, you never put pinswitches in the rain channels, because water runs there, rust the pinswitches and causes problems, falsing down the line

You can hide the siren more if you pay more money. This is realistically where it goes for what people are willing to pay. Are your connections going to be as reliable and wired as clean compared to someone that does this for 8-10 hours every day?
