Metal Back-tack Strip Replacement

  • In this tutorial I show how to remove old metal back-tack strips from an upholstered chair, and how to replace it when re-upholstering the chair with new fabric.

    Interesting. Never heard the term back tack. Curve eve. Ply grip. Are the terms I’ve always known. But learn something everyday. That type of back tack comes in different thicknesses. Mainly used on areas where there’s a curve. Not to be confused with the standard straight tac strips. Years ago they just either used decorative tacks or hand stitched the curves. Enjoyed this video. Very informative.

      That's interesting. Maybe we trained in different countries at different times, and that's the reason for the different terms, or after nearly 40 years, I've developed my own. The end result is the most important, and sometimes we find new ways of getting there.
