I think they re-applied it couple of times while it was processing/freshened it up.he even kinda mentioned it i think Ive been bleaching my black hair to the whitest white for over 4 years now, and it only goes white on the first try with 30 volume ,if its close to the roots. -Things that DO make a slight difference though, are: Applied heat . your own hair texture (i think finer hair gets bleached easier) The bleach powder.they can be reaaly different. (over these years ive only messed my hair up once, and it was because i used a different bleach and i didnt know how strong it was) Plus she wasnt jet black like us.as u mentioned Usually as far as ive heard and seen, jet black hair never goes to platinum blonde with one session of bleach. The bleach itself even never claims it can lift 10 freakin levels of color.
@Vaishnavi Ramesh u cant expect it to be the exact same after many bleaches, however, if u dont really mess up, Its not gonna be too bad. In general ive been coloring and bleaching since i was 16, so 10 years now. Never realy been that bad. But i wouldnt trust my hair to many salons. AT ALL. Everytime i went to a salon they gave me less than what i could do myself. So pls find a good one, and only do it yourself if you think you have enough info.
I do believe that looks like virgin hair which is literally a night & day difference for those of you who are considering bleaching- if not virgin hair the results are quite no considerably different. However, the stylist/s working in the video did several amazing techniques and deserve major props for how beautiful it turned out. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
They would have to chop off at least 6 inches of hair because hair that is colored dark and then bleached cant usually get past a level 7 without melting off or becoming seriously comprised. It becomes gummy/extremely porous and takes a whole day to air dry hair on a daily basis after such damage. Not even olaplex can save such damaged hair. This is because bleaching hair essentially makes hair empty. The more empty, the lighter it becomes. That’s why it’s best to slowly trim off any hair that’s been colored dark until it’s all gone, then bleach.
The getting it Blond is the easy part ..... Its keeping it blond and toned that's where most of the problems are ....... good job though .... and good luck with the upkeep.

Marvellous!!! And great idea to do the toner with 20 vol (=6%) instead of 4% (=14 vol) ! I’ll definitely try that cause I have strong hair as well.. Thank you 🙏🏽
Why? A toner deposits and neutralises - 6% will not give you maximum deposit it will just cause more damage and lessen the pigment you are trying to put in. 3% maximum

I understand why people are mad it’s patchy. I paid $300 for my first appointment to get to platinum, and I only reached a level 8 overall. My second appointment was $240, to brighten up my hair (she basically took bleach and sectioned my hair into 4 chunks and slapped bleach on the surface) and touch up my roots. Overall I still have the level 8 hair underneath my surface layer of hair and I didn’t notice until recently. I won’t be going back to my stylist and while I feel bad, my ultimate goal was platinum. I’m now doing my own hair at home. :) and yes I understand going platinum is challenging, but I shouldn’t have a level 8 section underneath my level 10. It just doesn’t make sense. So I hate it when stylists get mad we say shit bc frankly, some just don’t know how to do their job!

Okay, so imma rant about a "professional" hairdresser my mom hired to do my hair rn hehe this happened a year ago and this comment is long and nobody will probably read this but. . So at that time I was 11 years old and I wanted to color my hair light brown. I already had dark brown hair to begin with and I wanted to go lighter. She came over to my house and did my hair there while my mom was working. So she used those box dyes which I think are brought from some cheap chinese store. She then put applied it on my hair and we proceeded to wait for about an hour. So fast forward an hour later, she said we should already wash the excess off, but she noticed that the color didn't show. So she put this blueish cream which I learned from the video was actually bleach, and applied it on my hair while the cream colorant she applied an hour ago was still on my hair. I didn't know if it was okay to do this on the hair but like I said, I was still 11 and I was a pretty shy and timid girl (I still am) so I didn't ask what she put on or anything. We then waited for another half an hour. After that, she removed the excess and dried my hair. Now I regret not asking what the hell that blue cream thing was because it definitely did something to my hair. It damaged it and not to mention the color was still the same. Call me stupid for not knowing what bleach was or how it looked like, but I was younger at the time and my mom wasn't there to watch was she was doing. So I think this is it and if you ever bothered to read this I really appreciate it. Thank youuu
Wow...that sounds crazy. My mom didn't let me use any dye on my hair until I was like 17 years old. And when I told her I wanted light hair she told me about lemon juice and sitting in the sun and also peroxide. The peroxide turned my hair to rubber bands because I kept using it all the time not realizing how bad it was. I didn't even know what hair bleaching was until I was maybe 19
Very informative!! You explained so well. I’m going to do it myself tired going to the hair dresser that keeps saying “next time” your hair shouldn’t be as brassy 🙄 thank you ☺️

Lots of hair dressers can do it in one go, i think they are either frightened to do it due to not having the experience, or they want you to keep going as they will make more money xx
Great work love it!!!❤️ but I just want to ask for the purple or blue shampoo would you recommend using it before or after applying the toner once the hair has processed from bleaching?
***EDIT: After following the directions Ugly Duckling left below I'm completely satisfied with the result. the toner really helped my hair still feel healthy and soft!*** I bought these products and followed the directions on them as well as this video, but I'm not getting a similar result. Could you tell me how long the bleach was left to process in the hair? And was it done once or were there two passes of bleach?
Hi Ashley we processed the bleach around 30 minutes, maybe slightly longer because the hair was super long. And we did keep re-applying wherever to was drying out or not lifting enough. We used 30 Vol on lengths, 2- vol on the regrowth area and for second applications to the lengths. This was natural hair level 4/5 and we got it up to level 9. @@uglyducklinglosangeles7634 Thank you so much for replying with these details. I went ahead and did a second pass of bleach and followed up with the toner and purple shampoo. I know results can vary and perhaps my hair is just tougher to lift than others. I'll update my original comment to reflect my satisfaction! :)
Of course it can be done in one sitting but it depends on the products used. Use professional colours and you will achieve professional results. I stopped going to the salon years ago because I'd end up paying for something I didn't ask for. I've done my own hair for years with beautiful results and minimal damage. Was the bleached rinsed from the lengths of her hair before starting her roots or was it shampooed out? Did they wait for her hair to dry at all or is it okay to bleach on damp roots? Just curious, it looks great!
Hope Millis it’s ok to lighten on damp hair. Actually, I have found it to be actually better. I follow the Free Salon Education channel with Matt Beck. He has 2 videos with it being done on damp hair.
Orange is a level of color you have to go through to get to a level 10 like this girl. SMH. You honestly thought your hair was burnt because it was orange?!!!! Apparently you didn't listen to your stylist on how the lightening process works.....or you wouldn't sound so ignorant.

Then another fresh bowl of lighter at 20 Vol for the Roots? I really want my work to look better applying your wisdom? Just confused as I've never witnessed this. It's a WOW factor for sure. ❤
Yes the bleach was washed off, then purple shampooed. Yes, you can do a second application on wet hair, towel dried. Always 20 Vol for the roots, and do it separately as we did when the hair is very long....you get better control that way. Good luck with your bleaching & tell us how it goes!

This Ugly Duckling Los Angeles youtube feature of How To Bleach Dark Hair Blonde in 1 Sitting is transfixing to watch. It is apparent that the model featured in the video seems satisfied with her haircoloring experience.
@uglyduckling -- when do you start the processing time clock ? After finished applying to whole head, or when beginning to apply to whole head? Also, this video did not show using a processing (shower) cap -- but that is a requirement, right? Otherwise hair doesn't lift well in my experience.
after the whole head.. you shoikd be moving quickly to ensure even results as possible. But as someone with thick long curly hair, if you dont have multiple hands on like in the video, i would suggest working in sections either bottom half first then front/too half, or if its ALOT of hair then quadrants. Bleach stops working after a certain amount of time anyway so the difference from the parts you apply first and the last shouldnt be different or too noticeable at least. If you have really dark hair you might end up bleaching for 45-1hr so the bleach from the start will most likely have died out by then anyways.
Wow. I went to a salon and they fkd my hair up. I was there for 9hrs and it ddnt even go that blonde. HEAVILY damaged my hair, took half its length off because it was just snapping off. Took years to recover. Went back to dark.
Wow! I went to a salon to get my hair to a light blonde. It was super patchy and my hair was left gummy and parts of it just broke off when they were done. I tried everything. I eventually gave up and recently cut my hair super short. What I would have done to get my hair to this.
The pre-lightened hair hadn't quite reached the pale yellow stage. Had that been done, then the toner would have totally eradicated the yellow undertones, and would have lasted more washes, retaining the pale pastel colour. It's a major colour change, on long thick hair, so overall, I think it's a good job. At a later stage, once the hair has had some deep conditioning treatments, it can be lightened up to pale yellow, then toner applied again. Although the colour looks a bit uneven here and there, it could also be caused by artificial light in the salon. It's actually not an easy job to photograph hair, either video, or still shots. The lighting and angles have to be spot on to really show it at it's best.

@@goof_ball233 girl can you bleach your hair 2 times in one day? Like if the first time it didn’t lift
I love this and that pearl blonde is actually really pretty.
i have pitch black hair n had to bleach it like 3 times to get to white hair! and you only had to do it once so pretty unbelievable stuff here. maybe bc her hair is more of a dark brown color.
Figure out why lady
I think they re-applied it couple of times while it was processing/freshened it up.he even kinda mentioned it i think
Ive been bleaching my black hair to the whitest white for over 4 years now, and it only goes white on the first try with 30 volume ,if its close to the roots.
-Things that DO make a slight difference though, are:
Applied heat .
your own hair texture (i think finer hair gets bleached easier)
The bleach powder.they can be reaaly different. (over these years ive only messed my hair up once, and it was because i used a different bleach and i didnt know how strong it was)
Plus she wasnt jet black like us.as u mentioned
Usually as far as ive heard and seen, jet black hair never goes to platinum blonde with one session of bleach.
We did re-apply on areas during the processing. And yes, it would be correct to say her hair was dark brown rather than black...so you did well!
That’s because her hair is thin and dark brown for thicker black hair it takes 3 times to get it proper blonde

My hairdresser has bleached the tips of my hair but i cut the bleached parts off in quarantine. This really helped me. Thanks a bunch
I do believe that looks like virgin hair which is literally a night & day difference for those of you who are considering bleaching- if not virgin hair the results are quite no considerably different.
However, the stylist/s working in the video did several amazing techniques and deserve major props for how beautiful it turned out. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Someone needs to do this but previously dark colored hair with a color removal video along with bleaching it to platinum blonde !

I was just about to comment about whether she had any wave pattern left.😄 you can't tell because in the video she goes from soaking wet to blow dried. But bleach breaks down the proteins that keep curls intact. Side note why would you apply direct heat to hair that has just been bleached?
Her hair wont be completely dead after one bleaching, I'm speaking from experience but then again everyone's hair is different
3% maximum
@@faxlouovhx2963 oh no, for sure, no way…
I already did it with 6% and even with 9%!!!!
I, with strong hair need it.

Unfortunately, some stylists don't actually know how to bleach. Most are very good & know their stuff, but some are not.

I bought these products and followed the directions on them as well as this video, but I'm not getting a similar result.
Please feel free to message our site directly via the contact us and send us a picture of your hair currently and we would be happy to advise
@@uglyducklinglosangeles7634 Thank you so much for replying with these details. I went ahead and did a second pass of bleach and followed up with the toner and purple shampoo. I was able to use this process to reach a level 8 after starting at level 3-4 virgin hair and am much happier with the current result.
I know results can vary and perhaps my hair is just tougher to lift than others. I'll update my original comment to reflect my satisfaction! :)

Of course it can be done in one sitting but it depends on the products used. Use professional colours and you will achieve professional results. With research and learning anything is possible.
Absolutely correct. Thanks for your comments!!

Is it also acceptable to bleach the whole head including roots all at once?
Was the bleached rinsed from the lengths of her hair before starting her roots or was it shampooed out? Did they wait for her hair to dry at all or is it okay to bleach on damp roots? Just curious, it looks great!
The hair was so long (about one yard!) that we rinsed out before attacking the roots. That way we could concentrate on "one thing at a time"!
Hope Millis it’s ok to lighten on damp hair. Actually, I have found it to be actually better. I follow the Free Salon Education channel with Matt Beck. He has 2 videos with it being done on damp hair.

Where is the salon located I would love to get my hair done their omg her hair looks amazing
I think it looks fantastic.
Does that bleach has a strong smell?
Why do some hairdressers refuse to go from dark hair to platinum white hair?

Hi thank you for video. How long did you leave the bleach on mids and ends and also the second time for the roots?? Thanks
On mids it was on around 40 minutes with some added mix put in when it was drying out. For the roots, maybe around 25 minutes
@@uglyducklinglosangeles7634 thank you for your reply 🙂
