This was such a fun (and LONG) video to film! Once again, I would like to add a disclaimer that I would not recommend trying this on the average person or client. My client's hair lifted pretty well and had minimal damage, but that's not always the case. Let me know your thoughts and how you would tackle a process like this! XOXO

Well I think you guys did a great job it lightened amazing you need to do more of a disclaimer at the beginning of the video. Because you're going to have girls thinking that they can do a box bleach at home twice in a row. They're going to be like well they did it so so can I you need to disclaimer to be like we are stylist and we know what the heck we're doing do not do this at home! And for all you reading this comment that are thinking you can do this at home you shouldn't do it go to a professional.
I love that this hairdresser did this. Sick and tired of hairdressers tipping on egg shells when it comes to bleach. If the client is aware of the damage that could be caused, then go ahead and do it.
Ah but you see it’s not that simple. You’re operating under the assumption that people aren’t prone to blaming others for their choices and being irrational. Let me tell you, even if they’re fully aware and are thoroughly warned beforehand, there are MANY women who will STILL blame and bash the stylist for messing up their hair. That is why hairstylists are so skittish about bleach. With some clients you just can’t win. But there’s an easy solution for that-make them sign a waiver acknowledging that they’re aware of the potential risks so you have it in writing beforehand.
Her hair is healthy? DAMN. f that's what you call healthy then I don't know. Her hair is so dry and fried.

Alex all of our hair is dead, but if you mean damaged, her hair was damaged before when adding the level 1-2 black box hair dye, NOT necessarily from this process. They both knew and explained the risks they knew they were facing before attempting this process/experiment. Hair stylist all do this they play with color and bleach and expect these results. It looks and feels within normal ranges that they both expected. There was zero surprises here. It looks great girls! You did a great job with the canvas you started on. Keep filming more of these controversial episodes 😜

This is how you fry your hair. The one thing I learned about getting hair lighter in color when it is dark (because you dyed it dark) is: USE COLOR REMOVER. As many Times as needed to get as much out as possible. THEN you go for a bleachwash. I don't like how this turned out.
I agree. And they said it was just shades eq level 2 or 3 so why not try Malibu cpr or a sulphur based remover instead of going straight for the bleach.
I agree, I’m a believer in removing color first then giving your hair a break. Bleach is a serious process that takes times and respect for how your hair is going to react and recover from the chemical processes.
I did a professional color removing process in order to not having to bleach my hair…😀 and i had to cut my waist long hair to a pixie cut because it was so harsh it fryed everything off and now i am stuck with an orange color trying to grow out my natural hair

I have to agree. This is a good example of what not to do. Kristi Jennings did an all over dark to light and it turned out beautiful, but she spent 9 hours on her client. This color ended up looking ill. Without the extensions it would have been a complete disaster.
Everybody knows or at least should know what they get themselves into when going blonde so y’all need to relax & trust the process😂🤷🏻♀️

This turned out great but OMG use a cape. Regardless whether she works there, she's still a client. PROTECT HER BEAUTIFUL SKIN.
As long as people show the natural hair 360 before the extensions, then extensions are great! It's always a bummer when someone just shows the results with extensions. Then you can't see the health and true tone of the hair. Thanks for showing :)
You should probably add in about using 40 vol with olaplex bringing the vol down because a lot of people would take that info and use 40 vol straight bleach and end up with no hair. Also double processing in one day how awful it is but with professional products you are able to because of things like olaplex. Plus a disclaimer that bleaching out colour is a really REALLY bad idea, especially at home. Colour removers are very effective and a really good idea. As a licensed stylist you have more people trusting your word and you are leaving a lot of info out that is super important.
Great job as always. Also, great use of extensions. They appear so seamless - it just goes to show how amazing they can be as a tool when used correctly.
Love the end result but blond extensions really saved the day.

It looks really good but it got super damaged. I’m no professional but if u guys are trying to go blonde from a dark color I highly recommend that u wait until ur hair is longer and healthier so that once u bleach it u can cut all the damage off and still have healthy hair afterwards:)

That is a great job. Of course, we know you know what you are doing but getting it that light and to those tones in one day is definitely a feat of magic lol and the finished product with the tape-ins is seamless. She looks great. And it IS very Khloe Kardashian but better! Anyone complaining about your extensions or criticizing is just jealous because their hair likely doesn't look as fabulous. I'm waiting for your hair care, extension care, and color maintenance product lines to go with all of this beauty :-)

I went from a 1 in color to a 9 with no damage, just used 20 volume with powder bleach 2 times. I guess it just depends on your hair
Why not use a color remover first instead of going straight in with a bleach wash? I’m assuming her hair is pretty compromised to begin with. Still turned out great but the extensions helped. Doing something like this would make me so nervous 😭

Color removers just shrink the color molecules, not get rid of them. So lots of times of u use them the color actually ends up coming back.
Ashley Johnson yes but you could use a remover and then use a bleach wash to ensure that doesn’t happen and assuming she would’ve have to lighten after the fact anyways. She said they only used a demi so that’s why I’m confused why she did at least try the healthier option first.
I was thinking the same.. I use a color remover with my reds an my blacks first all the time then go back in an use bleach either highlighting or bleach wash, have never had a problem.. with the color she used being a demi I believe it would have come out closer to platinum with using the remover first..... Just my thoughts, jessi still love all the work u do an show us constantly ! 💞💞
Ashley Johnson they shrink the molecules to push them back through the hair. That’s why you use a clarifying shampoo and hot water after.
It would have made more sense to get the base lifted evenly before adding the final color. Also putting the darker color in between the foils rather than all over. Then toning highlights at the end. It wouldn’t look so patchy and muddy. The extensions are the only reason it looks blonde. Kind of a mess.
Claudette Markovic I’m sure there’s quite a few ways you could have done this process. Every stylist has their own way of doing things and that’s what makes this industry so fun & interesting! Thanks for your opinion.

I noticed that when a stylist really does take their time, they are able to take black hair and turn it supers blonde. I had black dark hair and my stylist took 8 hours getting the tiniest pieces to bleach and foil and in one session my hair was super blonde and no damage since it was virgin hair.

I go to Cosmetology school and I learned about highlights and the platinum card ... we tired black hair and turned it into platinum in a matter of 4 hours , no damage and the steps were completely different ...
There’s many ways that stylists will do highlights/ platinum card!

So gorgeous! I love how you explain the process and that going extremely lite takes time! Other artists do it over a couple days and edit like it was three hours! So when clients bring in a pic of Guy Tangs melted blond and has black box die and expects it done in 3 hours and cost $100! Nope. Nope. Nope! Also love the explanation of using extensions as lighter accent colors so we don’t have put natural hair through that! Excellent work! ❤️❤️❤️
She had blonde underneath the dark? How can you tell when the hair is being pushed too far? I did a woman’s hair that was dark but she had bright white blonde underneath so I put 10 vol on her hair for about 30 minutes and some (very few) parts definitely broke off. 🤫 how can you tell when it’s not okay to lighten when someone is dark but has previous blonde underneath? Since then I’ve never lightened anyone again who had blonde underneath dark. It scares me! But great job jessi! Beautiful!

If you're going to bleach twice, why not put bleach on roots the first time so second time you can see exactly where the line the roots create is and only apply bleach on the orange since the roots will be blonde
When your stylists hair looks dry and fried perhaps think twice about using their services.

She’s blonde bc of the extensions, she’s brown with blonde highlight extensions.
People that are not hairdressers do not understand, and it’s okay I don’t blame you.... hairdressers have a far more trained eye than the regular average joe/ Jane... . For coming from where she was at, at a level 3/4 (not a level 1/2) they actually came a hell of a long way from there. It looks really good and there might be some warmth to your eyes, but it looks really good and if y’all never have seen the before process, y’all would love the after. Jessi did great and the toner helped a lot and the extensions made it perfect!! You did a great job, Jessi!!, from a fellow hair stylist !! Again, the UA-cam viewers have seen the before and after and we’re only hoping for the platinum icy white like Elsa, because that’s how mostly all blondes wish to be, and sadly, the media portrays that as “perfect”. That's actually a good tip to add extensions to give the blonde that you realistically can't achieve in one sitting. It is also a way to re look at Pinterest and Instagram hair pictures knowing that they may have extensions in that can change expectations for clients and stylists

It’s kind of funny you posted this video today because I came home from the store today and the Kardashians were on TV, don’t usually watch them. But after Kim went blonde she was dramatically complaining per her usual and saying she was in the chair for 12 hours (kind of wondering who did her hair?) and how her hair feels gummy and and when it’s wet it stretches so much and it’s falling out, she had to put extra extensions in, etc...I was just laughing...🤦🏼♀️

Kywest Right she has about shoulder length hair naturally, so she always has extensions in. But she was saying they had to add more for fullness because her hair was so over processed that it would just pull apart when wet.
I love extensions. I come here for the beautiful hair artistry and extensions are very much a part of that.

In my experience, when you lather Shades Eq, it doesn’t take to the hair. Lathering causes air bubbles.
This is just so sad. the platinum blonde stylist's hair looks so damaged and dry and the black hair before the bleach was already so damaged even olaplex couldn't save it.

Her hair looks really good! I wish u had done a close-up of her hair before u put the hair extensions in. But, for how much lightning u did to her hair it came out really beautiful! She is also very brave and trusts u which is a big deal. I don't think her hair looks damaged at all. And, with that kind of extreme makeover u have to expect some dryness I would imagine! It's amazing how people who r not professional hairdressers comment about the condition of someone else's hair. U also did a great job on her extensions. Great video.
