Great job Shayne! Good on you to being this (and the previous) passage to us in good form. In the prior passage you spoke a bit about the rotating mast, but nothing much on your dagger board strategy. Best to Anna and crew.
Thanks mate. Dagger boards are a topic that I'm going to address in a dedicated video. There is a lot to talk about and since so many people are asking so many questions about it it's definitely worth more than a 5 minute mention in a gunboat delivery vid 😉. Another option could be if you have a specific question you can add it to our forum, topics on our website. We will answer questions on the forum and then it can be a great resource for everyone in addition to videos on YT.
Cheers mate. Yep definitely some big differences there. We've been working on a Gunboat 66 recently and Anna reckons that is her favourite 😂 Just need to win the lotto....
The rudders obviously need some work. An overbalanced rudder is dangerous....my rudders were slightly overbalanced when new.... Cut some area off the leading edge!
Trying to understand your average for this passage, looks like right about 9 knots? We sail an Atlantic 57 and did Antigua to Eastport ME in 8 days flat - 9 knots. Three aboard.
I didn't look at the average for the passage sorry. It was 8 days in total Azores to Toulon but one of those was spent hiding in a bay waiting for the Mistral in the Gulf of Lion to settle down. There was a bit of motoring earlier too as we had no wind. Would be fun to line up the 62 against the Atlantic 57 and see how they perform 😁😁😁
ua-cam.com/video/FACpR_55Ous/v-deo.html We like the setup on our Catana42s. The forward helm concept does have some merits. Probably the best execution would be the forward helm on Penmanship the Chris White Designed Atlantic 72 ua-cam.com/video/vpIJVuWEqHQ/v-deo.html

These are two very different designs built to two very different design philosophies. The 62 is a fun little boat that gave a lot of bang for it's buck. Loved it.
@@dancarter482 Gunboat 62 are Morrelli & Melvin design. Same generation models 48, 66 and the unique 90 as well. The later generation 60, 55 and 78 (only one built, a huge saga…) are Irens design. You’re absolutely right in the inspiration heavily drawn from Chris White!
Dix had a hand in designing the gunboats didn,t he??? Borrowed many features of the 550? I,m not into mega dollar boats! I,d love a Tiki 38'. If I wanted a bigger build challenge it would be a Dix 470 or the new schoening 50 footer!
Hi Shayne. Love the sailing. 🤙
I’ve been sailing a small 19ft sail boat for about 2 years now and ever since seeing you sail faster than the wind, it’s blown my mind.
Awesome 😎 glad you're liking the videos
Beautiful boat. Thanks for the film.
😀😀
Thank you. Loved watching it. There are worse ways to spend a week.
Agreed 👍
hard work - great job - chapeau .... starboard next week ? 😄

Thanks for sharing !
Good remark on davits length and safety loop to positively secure the dinghy!
Great video to pop up for breakfast coffee in Antigua. Especially wearing a shirt from that 62 😂
haha! it is a cool boat ... enjoy that coffee
As usual great video, thanks. The size diff between the 62/68 when it comes to the saloon/cockpit size looks significant.

@@youngbarnacles me too - lets go halves on the lotto ;-)
I'm interested to hear more about the dagger board setup in conjunction with the sail plan, wind angle, and wind speed. Great content 👍
Hey mate. I'm working on a dagger board video at the moment. If you have specific questions you can check out our forum on www.youngbarnacles.com.

Hi, Which helm station position you like best for catamarans? How you like the forward helm?

Looks like 62 bows ride higher than the 68, or that just how forward compartments were/are stowed?....
It's a Jonstone / Irens original inspired by Chris White!
A whole other world separated by a good decade .......

No traveler on this boat??
Ah, hidden behind the beam. Nice and tidy. Whew.
Had you worried for a moment 😉
Where's all the other boats.
