We live in south eastern alabama/georgia area, and my bro's wife and mine wondered why we will spen a sunday from sunup to sundown just riding backroads from small town to town. I finally borrowed my neighbor's el camino and had my wife sit in the bed while we drove about 40 miles of backroads (she's disabled and cant ride bikes) everytime i looked at her through the rear view, she was smiling ear to ear and she understood the feeling and why we ride in the country all the time. She said its amazing with just the wind and the beautiful "nothing" for hours and miles.
Recently we visited family in Georgia, just north of Atlanta. After driving through there I can understand how road rage can be a problem. It makes me so happy that I live in a small farming town in Louisiana.
