    9:16 And how many of them will get a promotion, with that attitude? How many will progress and acquire the skills to leave and start their own business? None. They'll be doing the bare minimum for the bare minimum, for the rest of their lives, and then they'll whine about their debt and their lack of pension. Meanwhile, in the developing nations, people who actually put in the effort will achieve great things. They'll be replaced by immigrants who will work harder, for less. This is just another nail in the coffin for the West.

    Millennial here. I'm here to work when you say I should. Companies don't care about you. They would replace you in an instant and not feel any way about it. Your story of the concern for the company reminded me of the instance, you can look up, in England. Were these generational families were living off the good name and the idea that this was their business, so people were nice to them. Once the employees found out it was a public company and the owner wasn't even the largest shareholder, the families were shocked when they were actually treated as the deserve, just another employee.

    '82 "Xennial" here. Loyalty has only gotten me (Can't speak for the whole of my micro generation here) a kick in the pants. The corporation will put the business needs ahead of you and that is how they make money. We had someone pass away (Health related) end of February. new person starts beginning of June. the job posting was up the week after the funeral. I am not going to kill myself for some CEO that will have my job posted or filled by the end of the day. My happiness my health and my time are my own. Give me enough time to adjust sure i'll come in and cover phones. But if i'm off for the day and you call me and want me to drop what i'm doing at the drop of a hat? Nah. suffer corpo scum. My father was loyal to a dealership his whole grease monkey life. He got cancer and passed away. his bay was filled the day after the business found out. all his tools were (Thankfully) wrapped up by the rest of the crew. Nah. I'll work hard, Earn my wage, but above and beyond? No. I have seen that A&B will earn you more work, less pay and an "We appreciate you." PROBABLY a pizza party. I think that if more places were honest about how they do things you would have more people sticking around or not depending on the industry.

    Younger workers aren't bad or lazy. It's actually the older workforce that have incredibly unrealistic expectations of a younger workforce who actually know what their value is, and dont enjoy being dicked around. You see a lot of "ghost quitting", or whatever else in younger workers and that happens *because* older workers ask too much of them, while refusing to pay them more. Gen Z and Gen Y are painfully aware of the value of money and even more importantly; the value of their time. Far more than any previous generation since the great depression. Jordan the Stallion on youtube makes some GREAT youtube shorts about the mentality of millennials and zoomers, and how the current economy simply doesn't align with their self-value and we're seeing the impact of that as major corporations reel and recoil as the new generations of workforces dont kowtow to them. Gen Y and Gen Z aren't averse to work, or work ethic. They're averse to abusive relationships in an economy where they cant afford to care. They've grown up through a recession, two major wars, and two major encounters with inflation. They gave up before the game even started. I'm 27 now, the youngest Millennial age. I remember my dad (Gen X) telling me when I was getting my first job: "Dont be loyal. Dont act like you owe them anything. They dont care about you. Just show up and work, get your paycheck." It's truly bizarre seeing that advice suddenly be applied to entire generations of workers. I genuinely applaud your ability to accurately read the situation. Well done.

    Younger generations are just able to pinpoint what the corporations do to screw them a lot easier than past generations with the internet. It isn’t good to be a “company man” because they never have your back. It is correct to only give what is needed to a corporation you work for. I used to be like you describe, and then I eventually learned that I need a skill, I will be respected only as a corporate drone for my “respect” for the company. Anyway, went and learned to code, every job has been $40 an hour at least for years. We just know it’s bullshit to act like you think we should, your generation was weak and able to be manipulated, a generation of unquestioning followers is essentially what Gen X is (the boomers created most of these issues though). Edit: We get paid less than the relevant prior generations with all of the inflation taken into account by a long shot as well. You can’t ignore that, none of that is our fault, just something we have to deal based on how you all voted. Good video though this topic is real.

    Basically you're describing people that have no allegiance or appreciation to their employer. And you described it in several ways. Perfectly true. Bad or absent parenting combined with a social media support system that fuels their ambivalence to any authority. But when they go out to start a business for themselves, all of that stupidity will come crashing down and they'll cave under the pressure. It's a worrying future ahead of us.

    • @ruubers7419
      @ruubers7419 Місяць тому

      What would that allegiance buy them? Respect goes both ways. If a company can't stay up without ripping off employees it shouldn't be up anyway. I agree that it's a worrying future ahead, but that's by ineptitude and greed of older generations. I can understand them feeling betrayed as they've been handed the last piece of toilet paper and no way to change the roll.

    • @cousindaddy1807
      @cousindaddy1807 Місяць тому

      yea but the corporations do not care one bit about the employee anymore long are the days of xmas bonuses and company dinners and pay raises and retirement pensions.

    • @abeecee
      @abeecee Місяць тому

      If anything, a sense of ambivalence to a meaningless authority arises from a greater sense of economic mobility. The ones who start businesses have their own sense of internal, meaningful authority. And since they have greater economic mobility, it stands to reason that the business acumen of the ones who do start businesses will be greater because the economic sacrifice of building a business is a lot greater than continuing to put in the bare minimum and job hopping when you want to. It’s exactly the same people creating businesses as it always has been. I disagree

    • @swilhelm3180
      @swilhelm3180 Місяць тому

      @@abeecee It's true that starting a business requires far more than working a 9 to 5. My point is they have been coddled and spoiled for so long it's very difficult for them to do what is needed to start a business. Not impossible, just harder than it would have been one or two generations ago. Youth today just doesn't have much of the tools we had before. And when you're used to getting things so easy and not respecting authority it just makes so many things out of reach.

    • @swilhelm3180
      @swilhelm3180 Місяць тому

      @@cousindaddy1807 That is a valid point. Both sides are more uncaring and show less allegiance for each other. Our entire world has become so much more disposable. Very sad. I wouldn't want to grow up today.
