NSW Delays AS 1851 Fire Safety Compliance to 2026

On January 19, 2025, the Building Commission of New South Wales announced a delay in the enforcement of the mandatory compliance with AS 1851, the Australian Standard for routine servicing of fire protection systems. Originally set to begin in February 2025, the new compliance date is now February 13, 2026. While the requirement has been postponed, it’s still recommended for fire safety contractors and building owners to continue implementing the standard to ensure the reliability and safety of fire protection systems.
