    Great video bro.
    Im thibk about tackling the job myself, got a bad transmission, but also got oul keaking and some other stuff, so i wanna take out everything and service the transmissions and address the leaking fluids, clean up the engine bay then out everything back.
    How long did it take you from start to finish to take the engine out?

    I've got everything disconnected except the 2 bolts on the exhaust. Where are you running that extension at 25:55? That part is challenging to get from the top. So did you hit both from the bottom? Thnx btw this video helped a bunch. Engine overheated and seized but luckily I was able to spin the crank enough to get all 3 of those bolts connecting to the torque converter. Plus, good luck to everyone getting the ac unbolted and that bracket to the left of the crank and the bolt on the bell housing that you need extensions for. lol

    I've look everywhere for this answer and can't find it. Can a LZE and LZ4 engine be used interchangeably? I have the LZE engine but found a close by LZ4 engine for cheap.

    Just pull the engine and transmission together. It is much easier

  • @donp.8172
    @donp.8172 Місяць тому

    Why would anyone want an Impala from that era? Aside from not being a desirable vehicle, ours used excessive amounts of oil since new and the transmission will cost you $5000. When it blows (which is highly likely)

    How long did it take you ? My engine is running super good but leaking oil everywhere. I am wondering if it would not be safer long term to change the engine (they are cheap). It is mainly leaking from the oil pan, and you have to lift a bit the engine anyway to change the oil pan gasket (annoying AF)...

    • @grocksontherocks
      @grocksontherocks  2 роки тому

      Most likely. these engines had horrible oil pan and valve cover issues use a UV die to confirm where the leak is oil pans are pretty quick to change on these

    Would you be able to help pull a 3.5 v6 and rebuild with performance parts and put it back in? Price?

    • @vinniez2188
      @vinniez2188 2 роки тому +1

      Just an FYI. Any real performance parts would have to be custom made "expensive" and once the engine was built it would be to strong for the transmissions used in these cars. Plus you would need to have the engine tuned on a dyno or it wouldn't run or would be to lean and would just get destroyed. These cars are not a good platform for performance.

    • @marissahill3820
      @marissahill3820 2 роки тому

      I totally understand it’s just been a really good car and has good power but I’m hoping to tottally redesighn the whole car to hopefully make around 400~450 whp I want to do something different then everybody else 🙅🏻‍♂️

    • @vinniez2188
      @vinniez2188 2 роки тому +1

      @@marissahill3820 it would be incredible difficult to pull that kind of power out of this platform. The ss impala that came with the 5.3 v8 had 300 hp and people would constantly destroy the transmissions. I honestly don't think you could make the power you want without forced induction and you would still have transmission problems and you would probably spend at a minimum of 10,000 on the engine and it would still need to be tuned on a dyno with a professional. I'd go get a good used engine and put it in if you really like your car. Otherwise I'd start hunting for a better platform if you want something with that much power.
