Great work. I have a question, though. For security reasons, wouldn’t it be better to use longer screws when affixing the hinge into the door frame? The ones that came with the steel door seem rather short.
Great question. The screws that go into a metal door are machine screws and the length is irrelevant. It's a matter or where and how a force is applied. With a door closed, pulling it or pushing it from one side wouldn't put enough force on those screws in a direction that could damage them. The force necessary to dislodge the screws would destroy the door before the screws came out. As someone who's been doing this for 20 yrs, I've NEVER seen a door forced open by dislodging the hinge screws. Either the door or door frame breaks first. Thanks for watching.
were the old doors of any value?
Depends on the person. Most of my customers either sell, donate, or ask me to cut up and dispose of their old doors. This particular client donated them to Habitat for Humanity. Thanks for watching
What type of certification do you need to install such doors to businesses?
States have various requirements and I'm licensed in 2 states. They typically require you to have a certain type of contracting license if doing work over a certain amount of money. In CA I had to get a Class C general contractor license. In TN I had to get a Home Improvement license. Those allow me to work legally in each state. Thanks for watching.
