I quite fancy a big pickup truck, mostly because I have always wanted one of those truck camper bodies that you can load in the back for fishing and hunting trips at the weekend. Then you demount it to use the truck for work during the week. I don't work, long retired, and I don't fish or hunt so that's a really sensible plan! But £99 a month just for a bit of fun. Hmmmm ...

Just got one at work to join the fleet for city-based work supporting other vehicles, around sites in London - I think it's great for what it is. Pretty basic, but not as basic as some reviews make out. The lease deal did make it more attractive than it would have otherwise, but I think the reviews are a bit unfair. Although those lease deals are indeed all gone now.
Following your video, I decided to try and find a similar deal. Unfortunately, I have clearly looked in the wrong direction. As I was seeing £500 to £650 per month deals.

@ModernHeroes most people will expect you to give it a solid kicking like the archetypal speccy asthmatic kid pushed over in the playground would get.
Given most moans seem overblown - especially at the offloading price - I suspect you'll soon get used to the "worst" sin of the lack of a park selector. Then you are left with the usual horror show that is the pickup truck.
For that ludicrously low price you had little option but to try this behemoth out for a year. I suspect that running it might turn out to be better than most of us anticipate!

They sell what I believe is the sane truck here in NZ as and LDV.
They struggled to sell at the NZ equivalent of 40,000 quid and recently they've been having a fire sale.
Struggling to sell it for the same reasons I guess (shite, RWD, ground clearance, mega expensive)

Daring move! This deal seems too good to be true, even if the 60k is too high for a "crap Chinese pick-up truck" and 99.99 Pounds sounds more realistic. So I hope there are no strings attached and you can return the car in one year without any hassle. And have lots of fun during this upcoming year of Maxus driving. Lot's of time to beat while charing this huge battery with that feeble charger. But then, what can I say with my 98kW charger in my MG ZS EV Max Lux (took abysmal MG only two years to replace that creaky steering column).

I get it, it's cheap, and no way would you have normally chose this. But imo, it's completely impractical if you're not needing it as say a tradie. Using it for your daily local shopping, commuting etc, it's just another oversized vehicle that is going to slow you down and everyone waiting behind you. Again, it's cheap, I understand, might have been tempted myself but I wasn't in the end! Good luck with it!

Don’t think there’s one size fits all for this - Leaseloco is pretty good as is leasing.com but there’s loads more.
I almost went for the Ami deal when it was £1.7k upfront and £20/month for 2 years, but neglected it due to having to then run 2 cars - with their insurance costs etc!
My diesel Golf is on its last legs, so maybe this could do me for a year, while I play the market a bit more!?

Maxus is SAIC brand. The same brand that made the MG ZS EV. A car you used to own, and I still own.
Mine is at 75000km and 2.5 years with zero issues. Will it live up to its function as a truck? I'm not sure. Will it be reliable? absolutely.

I saw one at the weekend (badged up and being driven by Traffic Offices no less…) on charge at M1 Woolley Edge Services - the ultimate compliance vehicle turning an already mediocre pickup offering into an utterly rubbish one by grafting on some random (and not fit for purpose) EV parts compromising performance, traction, ground clearance and carrying/towing capability!
But I agree £99 per month is cheap… 🤔

Although, they must spend a lot of their time sat in their vehicles, so would be better for them to keep warm/cool getting rid of juice, rather than burning hydrocarbons!

What a bargain lease. I am not a fan of leasing normally as it can be a lot of my spent with no car to show for it at the end of the term. At this price, it's much lower than the depreciation on most cars. I would like to see if he Ami fits in the flat bed. Hope you have fun in it. What level of new subscribers do you need to make it totally cost neutral?

Another faking video. Geoff buys cars and MacMaster. they did a costing for the 400 mile drive. BUT
for the electric he add the charge to get to 100 at start yet does not include this for the diesel fill at the start.
at the end he fills the diesel for £95 and claims this is the cost for the journey. he was only getting in to the 30 miles to a gallon.
but for ev the fill to get to 100 at the start plus the fills on the journey. so bring it to over £150
But the Taycan is poor in effieciency. if using a real ev then you can easy half the cost and less time to charge.
