      The effect of Russian 1917 revolution is actually in the other sense, you can see the immigration numbers starts to fall right after. What happened was that there was a huge surge of Russian nationalism and, consequently, antisemitism in the end of the 19th century with paramilitaries like Cossacks and 'black hundreds' staging pogroms. So beginning from 1890's you can see numbers from Russia rapidly grow, the immigrants being mostly jewish. The wars (1st WW and Russian civil war) slowed down the process and once Soviets firmly got hold of the borders by the mid-20's the emigration was forcefully halted.

      Actually, they elected a Socialist in 86’ and people dipped. Back then, 1 US Dollar was 3 Mexican Pesos. Now it’s like 230 Pesos to 1 dollar. Some strange disparity like that.
      The Socialist ruined the economy, ruined the Central Bank of Mexico to bail out criminals creating a rise in Drug Cartels. The government just barely saved their constitution and when he lost re-election in 92 or 94, the next guy became the greatest Mexican President Ever! He was assassinated 7 Days into his Presidency by a Cartel Member. The Cartel has ran the Country ever since.

    • @LordDefekator
      @LordDefekator 4 роки тому +1

      @@m.c.martin Nope. Wrong almost in everything.
      In 1986 there were no elections. The last socialist who ruled México was López Portillo from 1976 until 1982. I that period the peso lost a Lot of value because the fall off the oil prices.
      In 1982 Miguel de La Madrid was elected and he was president until 1988, with his goverment México started a period where the rulers were a little less politicians and more tecnical, a little more liberal (in economics terms) and pragmatic. The country still was in crisis, but in this period started a slow recovery and a political change that taked 20 years. In this period the rise of the drug lords started too.
      The mexican "exodus" to US in the 80's was caused by the economic crisis made by the populist socialists goverments in the 70's. The "exodus" continued in the 90's because the violence caused by the organized crime raised in the 80's, the unenployment in rural areas (a side effect result from NAFTA), and because the mexicans who migrated in the 80's, started taking their families with them to live in the US.

    Indians only started immigrating to the US from the beginning of the internet age and majority of them being students who wanted to pursue Masters given the quality of education US provides. But even today, Indians are at 5th position in the population list. So please don't hate us. Give us an opportunity to grow along with you.

    If you guys want to know why there were little no Asians, Latinos, or black immigrants in the 1800s to mid 1950s, is because the 1790 immigration act and a few other acts to during that time only allowed "free white men" to get naturalized citizenship (with a few exceptions of course for skilled work, rich, war etc). There was even a thing called the "Chinese Exclusion Act."
    Nevertheless the civil rights movement in the 1960s helped level the immigration playing field.
