Well.....Finland has "only" 187 000 lakes or ponds(with surface area of over 500 square meters or 0.05 hectares). Finland actually has about 30 000 lakes that are at least 1 hectare less than Sweden. So it depends on how you define "a lake". And I remember hearing a rumor that Finland lowered the size of their lakes just to have more of them than Sweden. And as a Finn I think it's probably true....But yeah. Canada definitely has more lakes than Finland. Though Finland might have the most land area covered by bodies of water (not counting coastal waters)
On a note, the Japanese numbers are misleading because of how crime solving works in Japan. In Japan, the number of cases a detective solves will determine their rank, pay, and honor among other law enforcement agencies. By in large, if a police officer or detective cannot determine a good lead that they believe will lead to an arrest, then they will often rule clear homicides as suicides or accidents in order to protect their numbers. That is why the suicide rate looks artificially high.
