The pothos is actually scindapsus exotica, it's been mislabelled in Australia for a while. If you let it grow up a flat surface vertically it will shingle - lay flat against the surface and internodes get much shorter so leaves overlap. It'll look gorgeous in the frog habitat, especially with the silver highlights. Loving these videos Paul :) ❤❤
You're making me want a paludarium sooo bad - stop it! LOL I'd love to see you feed the frogs and mudskippers. And pothos rhymes with moth ohs, it's one of the few plants I actually recognized. Just imagine a scared little moth with his mouth in a big O shape and you'll never forget it.
This is Amazing, I love these build videos Paul. Please keep doing them. Hope you have a great day mate, and i hope to see more of these. Just as a side note, Your videos help me out alot mentally , idk why but something about you and your personality keep me Happy. Can we get an update on the fishroom again . Maybe we can get a cheeky reptile visit :)
Thank you so much for mentioning the lifespan of the foam. I've watched so many of these type of build videos and I'm always wondering about their lifespan and whether I should use that material or not (if I'm wanting a longer-term paludarium setup that I won't want to pull down/change). Thanks. Great video and easy sub, cheers.
Where can you buy the aquarium foam? I could not find any foam of that size. Also can you do a video on how to breed marsh frogs as I have been trying for a few years but never succeeded.
I sell the foam if you’re local otherwise most Aquarium pond places should be able to to get it in for you if they don’t stock it. Frogs are incredibly easy to breed. I have to actually reduce water levels to stop my breeding because I have way too many at the moment. I’ll try and do a marsh frog video in the next few weeks.
The sponge is just pond/ aquarium filter sponge. There’s lots of sizes and brands depending on where you live. The filter is this one: pauls-aquariums.myshopify.com/products/pisces-internal-filter-fc-604?_pos=2&_psq=pisces&_ss=e&_v=1.0
What is the cleaning maintenance with this setup? I was going to go bioactive but after seeing this I love this! Just not sure how it would stay clean without a cleanup crew that you have with a bioactive set up
It depends on the species you keep. These frogs tend to only produce waste in the water so I treat it like an aquarium and do weekly 10-15% water changes and check pH / NO3. Very low maintenance It goes more by the nitrifying bacteria living in the sponges than a terrestrial cleanup crew .
The paludarium I just made would suit tree frogs better. Check out the latest vid: ua-cam.com/video/Ev2MjaekAW8/v-deo.html The rock in this vid is woma rock
Oooh, I want that awesome filter… is it one you sell? What’s it called & is it on your site? Room looks awesome. How’s the maintenance on all those & your fish tanks….. how do you have the time???🇦🇺❤️
Such a helpful video! Thank you! Do you need a UVB globe for marsh frogs, or would a full spectrum planted tank led light do the trick? And could fish be kept in the same tank? If so, which species?
Most Frogs benefit from UVB but the albinos will get eye damage from UVB unfortunately so I don’t run UVB with the albinos. You could keep small peaceful fish with the frogs but it is quite possible the frogs well try and eat the fish in the shallow water. as a rule frogs don’t try and eat fish and deeper water but if there’s a small fish in front of them while they’re sitting in the shallows, they can try.
@JoannaDruitt-t9u most pet shops / Aquariums should stock red eyed tree frogs and other small species. I’m not too sure who breeds them down there unfortunately..
Howdy! Depending on the species of green frogs it would be suitable but you would want a tank with added hight as they are climbers unlike these marsh frogs. So you would want to go 60-90cm high and add more branches for places to climb.
Awesome thank you so much. I’ve been googling to see the different styles of set ups. And most of them have the expanding form background and that seems a tad out of my league lol love your idea.
I’ve had mixed reviews from our local aquarium/reptile stores. Some are saying to stay away from the water at the bottom (something to do with a slime coat maybe) and just have a dish. And if doing a bio active you’ll need to pull it all out about in a year to re-do the soil. So I’m abit confused on what is the best option. I love the idea of a waterfall or misting and live plants
@kh3681 The main issue with big green tree frogs is they will poop in the water. And that can cause issues with bacteria etc. it all depends on maintenance, size of the enclosure and size of the animals being kept.
Howdy! Most aquarium shops should sell it in sheets. If you’re local to me I should have some still available but waiting on more. It might be a bit of a pain the post due to the bulkyness
I've set up a paludarium my water pump died due to clogged slimy water and my water is always brown is there a way to prevent? Was also wondering if it's safe for my frogs
@@paulstingray no no wood just drainage layer I’m thinking it’s the water that falls thru the soil into the drainage layer is making it brown I’m raising dart frogs tho
Depending on the species you might need a taller terrarium. Marsh frogs don’t climb but tree frogs do. So you would just need more branches / plants taller up.
It’s just the filter foam pads used for aquarium and pond filters Most places should sell it and you can cut it yourself size Here’s a link pauls-aquariums.myshopify.com/products/orca-black-foam-pad?_pos=1&_psq=foam&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Ok 👌. Is the foam from a specific brand?
Dose the foam come in large packs?
@Crylozilla2011 there’s all different sizes available. The sheets that I sell are roughly 50 cm x 50 cm
What brand?
Useful filter.

@@paulstingray I don't know if I'll get 500 in time tbh lol
Do 500 on this vid and he’s yours tomorrow 😂😂
@PAUL STINGRAY 🇦🇺 you'd need to throw in an enclosure as I feel it'd likely kill the ackies and I don't have another one 😂😂😂
Hi Paul, is there a particular size of gravel that you need to use? Is 4-5mm ok?
Finer is better as certain frog species can get impacted when they go for crickets and swallow gravel.
I think I'd enjoy living in a larger version of this Paludarium.
The only improvement i'd suggest is hanging a bug zapper over a hole in the top.
These guys only eat moving food

Hi Paul...could you please tell me the brand of foam you use in the frog tank?
It’s just pond / filter foam. No brand but most aquarium shops should stock it.
This is awesome! Would this be fine for poison dart frogs?
I’ve never kept poison dart frogs because they’re illegal in Australia unfortunately but I’m pretty sure they need more land area than water.
No way! Okay thank you :)
I've set up a paludarium my water pump died due to clogged slimy water and my water is always brown is there a way to prevent? Was also wondering if it's safe for my frogs
Is the water brown from wood/ driftwood?
Is there slot of organics in the water?
@@paulstingray no no wood just drainage layer I’m thinking it’s the water that falls thru the soil into the drainage layer is making it brown I’m raising dart frogs tho
Ah
Yes it will be the soil
Only way to really fix that is to set it up so the water doesn’t trickle through the soil so there’s a false bottom
@@paulstingray will it cause harm to amphibians? The brown water. I can’t it’s being misted so water falls down everywhere when I mist
Would this suit a green tree frog?
Depending on the species you might need a taller terrarium.

hey there paul i was just wondering does the water need to be cycled like a fish tank or just dechlorinated? great video btw keep up the great work :)
Still cycled and pH checked as frogs are as sensitive as fish are to water quality
