I don't live quite as remote ad you, but my time at my cabin is so precious...quiet, I work on my projects, cut firewood, revel in the seclusion, so I have a good feeling about how you feel regarding that. I'm 68 and still learning all the time, so you have your whole lifetime to learn! Love your videos.
@@jackofalltrapping6181 thank you for your service. My grandfather served in ww2 . And was a trapper and fur buyer. I learned many things from him im 45 and this is in muskegon and Newaygo County western lower peninsula of the great state of Michigan. Tight chains and tight lines .
Ahhh. Just in time sweetheart ❤️. Just had one bad hurricane here. I'm sitting in my office at my house in Fort Myers Florida and had quite the past few days. Just got my power turned back on and finally able to use the internet. Many, are still without power, water, and millions lost their homes. So, seeing you at this moment fills my heart and puts a huge smile on my face and takes my mind off of the horrible tragedy around me. Thank you my dear friend.❤️💗
I'm so sorry dear, it was originally supposed to hit us. It's always bittersweet, knowing it missed you but horrified it hit someone else. But yes, he is a sweetheart and seeing his videos in queue always puts a smile on my face.
you must be living the perfect life tbh. I am a top uni grad but god damn...sometimes I wish I was just living out there, close to nature, no internet bullshit, using my hands and my tools, providing for myself and enjoying those quiet moments full of reflection. No rat race. I gotta give it to you, bud. You may have just worked that life shit out. All the best from across the word.
Same as myself, actually just achieved my Bacholers degree in Computer Networking this year. Kinda wishing I would have went into Forest management at a Rural college/University instead but hey ho I'll make it work. Even if I take a career in IT for a good few years, even in remote networking down the line, so i am still able to work in remote locations week to week and hopefully create enough wealth where I can buy a small farm cottage or something similar, somewhere rural later in life
The scenery is sooooo BEAUTIFUL! (I notice Cougar's throne is gone. 😭 Miss seeing that handsome pup in your videos. I hope you are doing ok, a loss like that will always hurt. My own side-kick Lucy is almost 11 and showing her age. ❤)
This has become my favorite UA-cam channel, of all the millions of channels on this site. This man is living the life! So excited for the next cabin build. Going to be deadly!
I can definitely relate where you're coming from about being in the bush. I spent 16 years working with the forest service working in the Lincoln Woods Wilderness Area and patrolling all the way from Hanover to Franconia in New Hampshire on the Appalachian Trail and would stay out for 2 weeks at a time normally. a little over 2 years back I bought a 20 acre piece of forest land surrounded by Timber company land and State Forest where I can walk or take the four-wheeler for damn near 20 miles on the mountain without even hitting a road. there's only four houses on this road before the power stop and the road shuts down for the winter just after my neighbor's house 1200 ft away, then the next neighbor after that is 6 Mi away. I may not be in the bush but it's damn near as close to Heaven as you can get for Vermont. I call it the high Mountain Home Stead since I sit in a saddle a couple hundred feet below the highest mountain in the area. I still fuss around in the woods all the time but I'm 72 and putting up a 26x30 ft garage at the moment by myself so I ain't out hunting as much as I want to be. and damn it, bow season open today but I got to get my garage closed in yet so no time for for fooling around , winter is coming real soon Mister and I better get cracking if I'm going to get shit done before snow flies.
Great video as always! Looking real nice up there in the bush. Can't wait to see you getting after the log building, but also the quick updates of life around camp are just awesome. Keep up the good work my friend!
My career has been all office based. Retired 20 yrs ago and done a lot of DIY, shooting, gardening. At 71 with a bad back I still needed something different….so I’m learning to fly….passed all the exams and been solo for a few months. I’ll just keep going till I drop. You’re an inspiration…have fun for as long as you can.🏴
i have been an aircraft mechanic living in the city for 10 years and im going to leave it all behind to live with my brothers and start my dream of farming. your videos have really gotten me interested into my own milling and building my own cabin

It's called genetic memory. You cannot help but do what is in your blood because it is the result of your forefathers experience of doing what it takes to survive. It goes back from 14 generations or more. It is what you are.
Self awareness is the key. And your all over it. That's what the wilderness does for ya. I'm an old man and every time I get in the woods it makes me feel young. Keep at it youngster your doing it & doing it well.
My dad had the spirit of the bush in him. We would go deep into the mountains in Alberta with a Moto-ski and chase around after elk. Dad wouldn't shoot deer. He said they were too beautiful. He shot moose. We often were tasked as little kids with running the cutline and making noise to chase the game out onto his parallel cut line. It worked well. He knew his way around in the bush naturally. He never got lost. I too love the bush but life and decisions took other turns for me. My girls used to go deep into the nature preserve in Connecticut that backed our property. They would see deer herds and would also see coyote groups chasing the herd through the swamps. I am glad you have that camp. Never ever let it go. It is indeed sanity! Thanks for the video.
I wouldn't have missed your video, as I actually enjoy your thoughts and plans too. And being a Northerner who hates cities, you are a breath of fresh air, in other words your channel hits me in all the right places, though I still miss Cougar Big Time, Thanks.
Good to hear you enjoying life and looking forward to the next projects. I bought 2 canoes identical to the one you got 20 years ago, from Costco here in Sotland. Both canoes still in good shape, only use them a few times each summer but they have never let me down. Get a nice wooden paddle, I bought 2 Canadian paddles from an outdoor shop here, more expensive than plastic but feel much better. All the best.
You, are definitely the most Canadian person on the planet, and I love it!. I'm a B.C. boy, wishing to do what you're doing. I've learned a metric ton from ya! Keep it up please. Best of luck in your adventures!
Good to see you man. Never sell the camp that is all I can say. Unless you have something similar you are going for, you will regret it. Love that outdoors!
I just want to let you knew how proud I am of you. I have watched your videos since day one and I often think of how well you are doing and all you have accomplished. My 12 year old son is also learning a lot about self sufficient living and I have got him into being more self sufficient because of you're videos. It's really let him see what kind of accomplishments can be made from a younger man and I appreciate all you have posted on UA-cam. Your an inspiration. Safe travels
Whatever you video is what I want to watch and I bet that goes for most of the rest of your fan base. That is a nice canoe. I'm glad you found it. The pike won't be happy about it. Once you learn how to fillet a pike it is a great snack. I like to fry it in bacon fat. You are looking fine. I'm glad to see you in this frame of mind. You are indeed a bush baby. Your living area is so practical. I live in an attic so I know how things have to be thought out. Good video. Pax.
Also wondering if you will trap this year and also process some Beaver. What about a Moose or a dear? You could have a freezer solar powered and use the cold weather to keep it all frozen in the winter. Just a thought.

OMG... You're awesome. You make me laugh and put a big smile on my face. I love you being you. You remind me of old sourdoughs from Alaska, where I'm from. But you're so young. I just can't believe it. Is that an Irish-Canadian accent I hear in your voice? Keep on doing what you love and making videos for us!
Your lifestyle is fascinating! You are so determined and focused and getting your life, your way. I love to listen to you relate your commitment to your jobs. And to listen to your work ethic unfold. My Gosh, the things you’ve taught yourself and then to describe it so perfectly! Your capacity to describe well! Was your Gramma the beautiful person to nurture this child so wonderfully? Bless Her, hugely! I can’t wait either for your next projects. And looove your accent! Listening to you is so calming. Well, except for the occasional, ( read, frequent), Really Awful FBombs.! Sheesh! You didn’t learn all that from Gramma! Nope! Keep well, keep directed and if there is a natural disaster in our world…I wanna live by you! Ginger from Michigan
You are a wealthy man! Wealth being measured in this way: You are able to construct your own home, live where you want to live and do what you want to do with your time. How many people can claim all of those "riches?" I would wager that there are thousands of people who envy you and your situation. Enjoy, my young friend!
I live in the bush as well in northern Ontario. I love it here but man september was a garbage month this year Just rain and cold, what a waste it has been.
Hi..I'm a new subscriber and I absolutely love your cabin! Are you in Canada? It's interesting all the projects you are talking about..I look forward to watching you. Take care
Sadly, that IKEA furniture is not known for its longevity - it's little more than dense cardboard, really. Inexpensive, but not durable. Nice cabin, only change I woulda made is having both floors the same size. Yours works for you tho, and thats all that counts.
Always enjoy your show. Next time you need to kill some time waiting for the mail man, might ought to haul and stack some of the firewood down to the cabin. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Son, you are doing just fine. I subbed on this first video which I don’t normally do. Enjoy the time each day because that’s all you have no matter how young, tomorrow is no guarantee. You should consider posting a mail address. Be at peace. Galatians 3:9-14.
Man jealous! That’s why I watch your channel, your experience and videos! Brings me there with you. I live in concrete jungle. Keep the videos going Kyle.
You really are living your dream! Always love your posts and it did my heart good to see you eat those vegis!! It’s all about balance there friend! Now you got that canoe we’d for sure love to see a fishing video if you please. See you next time!
I can tell how much you love what you do. It has always been in my blood, "to be remote". However, you bring ut a good point. Unless you stay busy it can get really boring. So, for me it turned into work. I really miss it though!
You can do it….just take baby steps ..i was interested in this 5 years ago and started with just hiking ..then it progressed to over landing with my rig…then thought of land …and finally bought something and have stepped up my rig with a rooftop tent and diesel heater, fridge and much more…my point is its doable. I wouldn’t think i would be where im at if somebody said back than “you will own your piece of land and have a nice over land rig in five years” … now granted im a weekend warrior but progress is being made. Don’t give up and follow your dreams… you can do it, just remember baby steps. Good luck my brother/sister. I wish you all the best !
You should find a job that allows you to get paid to do those things. In the US we call them park rangers, or DNR department of natural resources, etc. In the US they advertise for rangers, must be a short supply of people interested in getting into that line of work. If you can't find a job in Canada go to the US, the bush is exactly the same. Just a thought.
Love the bear story - what a marvelous photo! 👍😆 Looking forward to what you're up to next. You might be able to lighten your transport work by having a local bush pilot drop smaller loads into camp from the air. Maybe look into that? It will cost you a service fee but possibly no more than you'd spend on gas & time driving in & out of camp yourself. (Try sliding the dresser drawers under your bed or sofa, to make your room look neater? And, smoked pike is delicious too - a lot of fine bones but, yes, it's good! :)
I know, it's crazy! 12 years old and he takes out a bear. To be fair, I was a lot cooler when I was twelve too. I just didn't stay that way like Kyle did. 😅
I've lived in the woods 50 miles from Canada ( Saskatchewan) for the last 20 years, I can't even stand going to town anymore let alone the thought of even living there again.
Have you ever thought about starting a business? So many people express interest in this way of life and real estate is a huge long term money maker. Idk how much land you have but personally I've been looking for some way to try the "off grid" life without having to spend all the money buying land and then money and time building a cabin. I'm particularly concerned about winter since I live in a warm climate, even though I think I love the snow and cold weather. If I could pay a few thousand USD up front for a 6 month off grid cabin stay during winter, particularly if I knew there was going to be someone around who would at least keep me from dying if the cabin burned down or something crazy, I would definitely be interested in that and I think a lot of your subscribers might be as well.
The piling method and all that good stuff. lol I've followed you some time now young man. Much love, be safe. You're a hootch. I'll tell ya that for free!
@Trapline n inlines Should build yourself a dresser, cabinet, wardrobe for your clothes. Just and idea ikea furniture isn't all what it's cracked up to be still the cheap crappy particule board garage that holds water falls apart in 6 months 😀.
Great video. Glad I found channel. Are there any plans for your cabin? I am a jack leg carpenter but can follow drawings. My wife and I just purchased some land and I want to build a cabin before we build a permanent home. Anybody with ideas feel free to send me information. Thanks a everyone have a easy day.
Just remember, while that poplar may burn nice and hot, it burns up quickly, all soft woods do, while hardwoods burn a bit cooler and last much longer, so...at least you can load that stove of yours and get threw the night without sweating to death and then waking up freezing because the fire burnt out! 👍 rock 🍁 maple is a nice hard wood that burns good
You mentioned in previous video that you plan to move and not expand on your stead that you show in this video. Are you able to tell us when you will be stopping your videos? will you buy a homestead somewhere else? Really curious your plans for the future of this channel. whose land are you living on right now? Your viewer from BC Canada....Sam
Good day I am a retired 65 year old Man and have a registered trapline in Manitoba. It's very nice to see a young man like you who has the passion of the bush like myself and it's a lifetime adventure you are going to have. Enjoy it trapping is a way of life not the killing of animals but being one with nature. A great way to be out there is pick up your chainsaw and start carving I developed to be a fairly good chainsaw carver and let me tell you there is more money in carving the fur bearing animals than trapping them which is a sad state of affairs. Enjoy the moment it goes by faster than you think.
DUDEEEEE,I used to watch your videos and one day I lost contact of your channel and I spent so much time trying to remember the name and finding you.I am so glad youtube recommended me this video.

Excellent video again . Ya gotta love working with them logs ..... I just bought a portable band saw mill and it is about as awesome as it gets . I just love butchering them logs into lumber !
Hi man I just want to let you know someone is using your name and passing off as you are giving away prizes I asked what is it about turns out is a scam because I answered thay got my licence number and bank account I've been taken for $ 30.000 Australia dollars I'm just letting you know so you can let all your viewers know so no one gets court by the way I hope you had a great birthday you deserve it anyway can't wait to see your next video all the best
Are you going to start with log cabin or a log workshop ? Might be worth perfecting your process before you do your home . I think either way will work . From whet I have seen of you , you will do it right . Can't wait to see what you have for us . Hope for a great trapping season .

Got another thing to say you know if you love what you do and you do it good then it's never work
Your lifestyle is fascinating!
Did you get rid of the ram charger?
YEP GREAT SPOT TO JUST RELAX FROM THE FARM WORK AND BE ONE WITH NATURE....... EH....
Glad to see you are doing well. I don't blame you for wanting to live in the bush ! Thanks for sharing
I love it here but man september was a garbage month this year
Just rain and cold, what a waste it has been.
Your cabin isnt that small compared to mine 😅
Damn pumped you uploaded a video, I'm sitting in my tree stand so I can't watch now but first thing when I get in from the bush
Hi from northern sweden.. you can do a log sauna? I think perfect for you in the Bush When cold winter,,, sit and relax and do new plans..
Updates are always nice. Keep up the great work.
@@CleoHarperReturns Laughing... Anyone with a name like yours could never be anything but cool! 💐☺️👌

I've lived in the woods 50 miles from Canada ( Saskatchewan) for the last 20 years, I can't even stand going to town anymore let alone the thought of even living there again.
You might put your axe inside so some phsyco dont hack his way in while you sleep. Just sayin .....Safety first bud.😉
🔥right on man..nice to hear from ya, pumped for the winter and trapping videos 🔥👊🔥🏍🔨⚙️🚜
"Sometimes I forget how much I love the bush" , Never forget how much we love you!
Just remember, while that poplar may burn nice and hot, it burns up quickly, all soft woods do, while hardwoods burn a bit cooler and last much longer, so...at least you can load that stove of yours and get threw the night without sweating to death and then waking up freezing because the fire burnt out! 👍 rock 🍁 maple is a nice hard wood that burns good
Hey buddy, love your vids, How about videoing some fishing and hunting when you can. Take care
Hello from the Shawnee National Forest in So Illinois. No Bears 🐻 but plenty Timber Rattlers stay safe
Nice bear, would like to hear about some of those racks on your wall and some hunting content. Are you is Saskatchewan? Keep livin the dream.
Enjoy your videos so dam much your energy is ten fold with projects, be safe can’t wait for the log home build👍
I certainly enjoy listening to your musings about your life in the bush. You are way ahead of other young folks your age when it comes to what you want in life. Have a nice day and enjoy.
Hope for a great trapping season .
if I lived in the wild I would want chickens for meat and eggs, but you don't seem like you would want that for food...
Yo videos help me figure out how I wanna live life and be independent and live without bills just learning to love life and nature itself to videos really inspire to learn how to occupy myself just by keeping up with the place I live
