I especially love the part where everyone is carrying the downed tree up the side of the mountain... its like a metaphor for how one person couldn't possibly do this thing alone, but in community we can do anything. Stronger together!

I was the happiest I've ever been when I lived with the rainbow for a year. I lived in a school bus that ran off of veg oil. We converted it into a home . Left for the woods. I met the most beautiful people and really miss it . Went back to Babylon and finished law school. Years go by and time goes by so fast . ❤

'We are stardust, we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden'.
Not my words, the lyrics from 'Woodstock' by Joni Mitchell.
    Way back in 1969.

Maine had some nice small communities, that were more self sustaining but the winters were hard. is the go fund me page active?? would like to help. keep the message strong, pay no mind to ''cult'' BS. say hi to tree for me the lad make me laugh rubbing the blarney. im old but work in mental health these days. most young people very lost and disillusioned, your way of life can heal many so glad your putting your lives out for others to see.

Hey doods. Just watched that documentary on you guys, and while that kind of lifestyle definitely isn't for me, I respect you guys for putting a sustainable community together. I just don't think I could live without my computer, video games and other entertainment, not to mention refrigeration for food (my sister on the other hand would probably jump at the opportunity, xD). Keep doing what you're doing. ^_^ Also, that stuff those trolls on the internet said about you is sickening! They should look inward at themselves before they judge someone else for how they want to live. I'll admit though, that thing with the cat irked me at first, as I am a cat-lover, but after thinking about it for a moment, it's probably how Native Americans would have handled the situation. So I'm over it. The internet gets mad at you for one stray cat, but then doesn't seem to care about what happens to thousands of stray cats everyday at shelters across the US. Anyway, just wanted to give my two cents on the matter. Here's to your community thriving for decades to come! :D

@@TreeandJulia It works quite well too I might add I used something like this as did my dad and grand dad for many years at our cabin. Ours was a Box made of Tin 36"W x 48"L x 24"D The box was sitting on an 18" bed of sawdust as well as being surrounding on all four sides by 18" of sawdust This fridge was under the floorboards of our family cabin just inside the rear door farthest from the wood stove and kitchen it held about 36 degrees throughout the winter months and the warmest I ever seen it get was about 42 degrees . You can make a freezer using sawdust too, same principal you just have to make it much bigger, still insulate the outside with 18" or more of sawdust and than line the inside of bigger box with Ice cut from pond JUST BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN WORKING ON FROZEN WATER WAYS PLEASE! P.S. Love your video's , Love the Garden Intentional Community Idea, I'm presently building out a step van than hitting the road. I definitely want to visit both the Garden in Tn. and Mo. Most people don't share my views and I don't really understand most things people say and vice versa. I have everything a person could possibly need to move off grid, and start over including equipment for procuring food, gardening, building a cabin, and self protection, etc... I'm thinking very seriously about going off grid, but mist likely where people are not around me a lot. I have a Schizoid personality also, (not same as Schizophrenia). I've had a very rough life. @TreeandJulia I just saw the 1st episode of The Garden on Discovery and I felt like the filmers were trying to paint a negative picture, in a very manipulative and underhanded way. I think Tyler plays a double role, the fake one as if he's so enthousiastic and seriously interested to join the lifestyle and the real one to scrutinise the "real" motives of the commune, under the cover of trying to find out if the lifestyle and commune are something for him. I even suspect Narrayah infiltrated into the commune prior to the filming on behalf of the film makers, to stir things up without it being obvious that she is related. They play it well, but their characters are a bit too polished and too cleverly thought out. He plays the character of all American manly man and likable guy, that you don't fuk around with and is a man of his word that you can rely on. And she plays the character that most American women who were not the typical all-American cheerleader type of girl (like 99% of all women), can relate to and identify with. I don't think Narrayah knows exactly what's going on though or about Tyler's alterior motives. She probably is told she is there to see the "truth" as an outsider, of what's "really" going on on the inside. But if they told her to just go ahead documenting everything on film as if that's how she always does in her daily life, very well knowing that the Garden had a lot of negative experiences with exactly that, then I feel like it's a set up. The film makers are manipulating the public to be on the side of Tyler and Narrayah and therefore automatically form a negative opinion against the Garden. Tonight is the 2nd episode and I can't wait to see if I will feel the same. Keep up the good work and all the best to you!

Property taxes? Security? There are bad people out there that would love to take what you have made. “Utopia” is an unattainable dream..as long as human nature exists. Just being real, but enjoy it for as long as you can.

Property taxes can be paid, security can be had, without it being front and center.
Utopia is unattainable, you don't arrive there, it isn't a destination, it's a People.

You know i guess this kinda thing is for some people, but i could not live like this. But have no problem with hippies & bums & homeless going somewhere like this as long as the people are not interfering with the people who think this is not for them and i don't think those people should mess with these people.
