- Local weather for Portland Oregon and Pacific Northwest region from local meteorologist Rod Hill. Storm track, Cascade travel conditions and outlooks. Updated track of "Bomb" Cyclone and the rain, wind threat for the Northwest Tuesday night. Also, an update on the Cascades Winter Storm Warning with more snow on the way! Portland's 7day is update.
We had heavy snow all morning at 1000ft in north battle ground and we got enough to cover the ground and make the roads slick! Very exciting to watch
Oh wow! Thank you for the report. I had the snow level at 1,500 feet. Thank you again.
Thanks for sharing!🎉😂.
Be careful, be ready for whatever comes your way. I think this is gonna be bad for a lot of people.
Thanks for your forecast!
Thanks for the updates!
Exciting forecast, thanks Rod!!!
We've had so many wind advisories last week got prepared. Now bomb cyclone I'd rather be on the side of what could happen & what it will be. We always prepare for these storms but S meetin east can get microbursts in which we've had in the Silverton hills! Blew off our plexiglass glass & broke it off. Just be prepared crazy weather here. Thanks for your insight into crazy weather. Mixed snow 1500 ft! 36 high now 33!
Thank you for the report, sorry for the damage you had to deal with.
Love you Rod Hill
Walked to dollar tree to get a few things. We love to walk (weather permitting). Boy it was cold. Glad I had my heavy coat on. Brrrr
Thank you
Looks like the bomb cyclone might turn out to be an M 80 fierce gale. Still, a 60 Mb drop in 24 hours would be zero funnage if the low didn’t bounce back off shore. There could still be quite the wave display if we get 25 to 30 foot seas crashing onto the rocks north of Depoe Bay. We shall see how this plays out. Looking forward to what you put together for tomorrow afternoon, Rod.
Would be fun from a distance to see the 25' plus swells into Depoe Bay. Check you NW X or Twitter if you have it, they are posting buoy reports.
It’s currently snowing and accumulating at 1,100ft in the Coast Range ☃️
Thank you very much, snow level is dropping with the sunset, good to know.
I’m just outside of Astoria. Reports are that there was snow/ice just above me today on HWY 202 at ~500 feet that didn’t stick.
You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
“Bomb cyclone” sounds so much scarier than last year’s “atmospheric rivers”…
Dearest Rod, Thank you for the forecast. We all truly appreciate it a lot. Thank you, and take care, and have an awesome afternoon. From West Salem, Oregon, I do have question would be ok with you if I share your website on my new Social site?.
Yes, please do and thank you!
@@rodhillweather I post it on my new social Site. I will sent screenshot
Rod's favorite saying..."absolutely likely" 🤭
What if it took the December 12, 1995 track? It's amazing what a 100 or so miles and a slightly different setup could have resulted in. East of 130 degrees and this one would be a completely different news story.
No doubt....
Stay safe everyone
What about the mixed snow we seeing in Camas?
No concern (generally). Snow levels rising on ths Tuesday night.
Snowing just past Thompson in west hills
So the storm won’t be too bad for east county?
You folks have a decent chance of 50 mph east gusts tonight through the midnight hour.
I saw on news a super Typhoon hit today. Will that system be heading to the West coast in a few weeks and get caught in jet stream? Seems late in season and wonder if this has your attention?
Thank you for the info, I will start paying attention to far distance flow jet stream patterns.
@ rodhillweather. Thanks Rod. I checked today and they are lined up in Pacific. The La Niña prediction is right on. I even say snow flake on the 15 day for valley in early December. I brought up my comment because as a long time weather watcher the two extremely unusual events (lowest pressure of any storm off coast and a very late season Typhoon) seem to be setting stage for more rare events, Pure luck is why this current low is not worse since it stayed off coast. Something tells me our luck could run out in next month.
@ rodhillweather. One of the things I really like about you is you know the PNW weather models are frequently wrong and you are not afraid to make a prediction. It is pretty hard for a weather model to know what will happen with 938 mb lows and an atmosphere River. I just witnessed a 30+mph wind gust (not predicted) in Keizer where we went to a light breeze to 30mph within a minute.
how does this storm compare to october 13 1962?
With a different track offshore from N. California and then sliding north off the Oregon Coast and this could be a similar wind event.
Just think if that low went up the Columbia river disaster
Why don't you give a 7-day forecast for Salem?
I can start doing that every video. Keep reminding me if I fail and thank you.
What is it going to be like in Albany, Or
I don't think too bad, as your winds will generally be south and most hours tonight 15-35 mph.
I like turtles 🐢 ❤Go ducks🤙 1:57
Wintry mix and hail up on Prune Hill today
Just got a report of hail on Mill Plain, thank you!
We got 2 inches 2000 ft level mt hood
“Glancing blow…” hmm, then it looks like no big deal.
I think overall - yes.
😮in coming! . # stay safe n warn
7 degrees early am wallowa county
?? 7 degrees early ??
2am. Clouds moved in. Was 12 at 6am
Climate change reminds me of Covid. More bark than bite. And the bane of polyurethane.
That’s because your child didn’t die from Covid
Thank you
