Johnny also reveals meeting Allure employees at swaggy brand events, and they wonder how rigged these awards are or are they paid for by the brands?

I wish there was a “People’s Choice awards” for beauty where a committee of actual MUAs, Estheticians, Dermatologists, etc. make the nominations for makeup and skincare products in each category, and then the public vote on who wins out of all the good products that were nominated. There could even be a Pro, and a Public distinction. Maybe something you two can 🕺🕺.

Hysterical...love you guys! **Ps...I used to work at Allure. The Awards are largely based on appeasing advertisers not subjective testing, innovation, or analysis. It amazes me these 'best of beauty' awards have any credibility with consumers.
What happened to that contest where you got a chance to sun prizes… I only won once .. mascara video t I was poised at the designated hour to be among the first 59, 100 or whatever
Fun fact....if you break out the cost per shadow of the Maybeline block shadows, and the Natasha Denona mini palettes. The Maybeline is $4.49 per shadow and the Natasha Denona palette is $5.40 per shadow. The audacity of Maybeline to be in the same pricepoint ballpark as Natasha Denona.....
Marlena stell has talked about that on her channel, there's A LOT of things that go into the prices of makeup. It also depends on the quality of the product whether it's worth it as well

I have a love/hate relationship with the Euphoria makeup trend. I did makeup like this my whole teen and adult life. Still do at the age of 25. I like that it's popular bc it makes it easier to find products for it and people compliment it. But at the same time, I am no longer allowed to do it at work because of the associations the show caused with it. Which seriously sucks for me.

Donni David and her Euphoria team were/are absolute visionaries. As an aspiring screenwriter, I was blown away with how the makeup became not only a character device but a narrative device. Those looks told volumes. I’ve never been so moved by makeup in a TV show. I ordered the Half Magic adhesive spikes and I can’t wait to get them!

I love that drunk elephant protoni moisturizer and Kevin mentioned, and you gushed over...and 100% has actually done great things for my skin in the 2 months I've been using it. That essence pure nude highlighter is just SO beautiful. You guys are the best at guiding me to brands I otherwise wouldn't notice that really make excellent products.
I trust you both so much...and I NEVER used to trust youtubers because I've always felt they were pushing products that they were lying about. Kind of like how this Allure "best of" was mostly 🗑 because of the SUSPICIOUS stuff happening *cough elf cough*. HATS off to you both not being afraid to say if a product (even from a good brand) is bad. I value that. And I'm positive everyone else does too. That's trust!!
Stuff that I'm interested to see in the future:
- you video review of those high-end foundations. I'm here for that tea.
- I love this discussion of "best of" and how/why things are not the best. In that vein, you both need to 💯 get together with a couple of trusted fellow makeup aficionados and do your own Best-of video at the end of the year as a makeup/skincare celebration. Plus around then there are so many makeup sales/deals that for lots of us it's a prime time to get new products.
- Loved the episode focusing on mature skin makeup. In that format, I'd love a video of you both focusing on on the minimal makeup trend for those of us who want that fresh face awake goal. (For those of us who don't want to wear full coverage foundation..or just want to use 4-5 products...or less... but still look put together.)
Just got back to my university dorm. This is how I start my week: a beautiful and bothered podcast episode, some coffee, and some snacks.
Ladies, niacin in food ingredients is niacinamide in skin care ingredients. You'll see it in a ton food ingredient list. Also, the clear elf brow/mascara I use both ends for my brows. I absolutely love it they both work the same.
Johnny, please try the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. I'm an oily skin, large pore gal and I can tell you that this is the best tinted BB cream sunscreen I've ever used, and it's affordable. I'm even able to skip foundation many days using this, and it actually mattifies the skin. I even wear it under my foundation(s) with no problem.

Euphoria Makeup Style is from the late 90’s. I was 15-16 in the late 90’s & a lot of that style was similar. I’m not saying it was exactly bc the creator kicked it up 10x’s compared to late 90’s. But colored mascara, glitter on the eyes, check bones & collar bone. I had purple mascara & green mascara. I loved it! It was nearly as pigmented as it is now but close up enough you could 100% tell it was colored. I would run it through the front parts of my hair so I had colored (okay more tinted) color streaks. The 90’s was so fun for makeup!

88 baby here and my babysitters in the late 90s/early 00s were all born in 76-83 and this is what they wore! I was always so happy when they would babysit and do my makeup! Miss the late 90s/early 00s so much!

I got an email to vote for LYS in the allure awards but so many other products (and even brands) I had never heard of! Idk how some of them got on the list even to be voted among the best of the best 🤷🏽♀️ granted most of my makeup is either indie or K-beauty but still... Some of those products did not deserve to be there! Also did you guys hear that during that national alert, several prisoners in various prisons who were hiding phones got caught when it went off 😂

Ok Johnny Ross, we need you're best in beauty (for dry skin, for oily skin, for mature skin, for a budget, of all time)
I use the elf Halo glow liquid filter and the elf Halo glow liquid blush when I have any occasion. I quite like it, but the medium tan shade is too yellow on my skin and the blush exaggerates too many textures. Also I have oily skin, so I use the blush because I don't have any choice. Also the exchange rate is crazy.
Elf should've made a shade for the girlies who have medium towards medium tan, (common in South Asia) but with neutral undertones.

I remember as a young goth in the early 90's going to the ice skaters costume shop to buy glass jewels for my makeup. Used to cost a bloody fortune 😂. It's strange seeing them so readily available now.....or I'm just being reminded how old I am 😢

Okay, so I totally agree with y’all about the E.LF. putty primers… in a tube or a pot doesn’t matter. I couldn’t stand it. I got the putty eye primers and they were so dry and hard to use. After using them twice they were so dry they were coming away from the walls of the pots they had totally dried out so bad. And the putty feels like I’m trying to apply a clay mask. One of very few E.L.F. products I hated.
This has become the only place I will take product advice from and application advice!! I’ve needed this podcast in my life!! I love love love LOVE this podcast!!! I watch every Sunday!! ❤❤

My 101 year old neighbor had the test alert going off on her flip phone for hours before she called me up and asked me to turn it off for her!! Poor thing! 😅
It's disgustingly obvious whoever handled this year (and other years) of Allure's best in beauty doesn't care. From the organization (best hair for make up products), to the best four color eyeshadow palette, to the selections. I had lost faith in past years but this just sealed the deal for me.
Not just Cheerios, but most fortified cereals! They either have Niacinamide directly or they have Niacin, which the body turns into Niacinamide. Niacin may also be listed as Vitamin B3. Consuming it as Niacin rather than Niacinamide is beneficial because it can lower cholesterol but plenty of people experience "Niacin Flush" (get hot, red, itchy, dizzy) with high amounts of Niacin and can't handle it.
Ok we need an annual award show from Johnny and Kevin!

Hi, I work in a pharmacy and do our Skincare consultations and have done a few courses with La Roche Posay. The cicaplast balm is actually supposed to be more of a healing ointment for patch treatment or like bigger patches on the body for people with dermatitis and similar conditions or for wounds that already have a crust. So I get you, I never understand people who use it as a face cream. I mean if it works for some people, great. I only use it on like really dry patches or on like healing pimples/ wounds. I have a few patients with skin picking disorder who love it and carry the small tube in their bags ❤

The Maybelline eyeshadow stacks were listed as some of the worst products of the year by a couple of influencers whose opinions I value greatly (Jen Phelps and Morgan Turner). Their inclusion on this list makes me distrust Allure's picks a little. I trust content creators who, like yourselves, test and play and swatch and are knee deep in beauty products daily. Thank you for being realistic and somewhat skeptical, and for all of the beauty knowledge you guys share with us every week 😊

The super serum is a reformulation. I saw it being sold at OLLIE’S of all places back in early May of this year. It was it appeared to be the same thing just in a different shaped bottle.
i like looking through the award winners each year but knowing it’s largely all just paid for makes the award less impressive and less credible.
Every product that I’ve bought on these two stunner’s referrals have smashed what ever I was using before out of the water. Latest one is the maybelline 4 in 1 protector …. LOVING!!!!! ❤❤❤❤ you two can never leave us without this podcast!! 😂😂😂. Xxx love from the uk xxxx
