I'm only 11 minutes in and, Gentlemen, this episode is a gold mine! As a golden girl (54 years old), I'm stunned by how much I learn from you every week. THANK YOU!
There's literally a bottle of Seabreeze and cotton circles next to my bed right now. (The same pairing I've been using for thirty plus years.) I feel so called out.
PLEASEEEEE WE NEED A MAKEUP NIGHTMARE EPISODE TOO. I adore how hard makeup artists work in such short time with that clock ticking on their head. Thankyou for bringing this perspective in front of us cause mostly we se it as 'its their job and that they should know how to do' and we are all chill meanwhile the MUA is on the last working blood vessel to get through it. 😅
Yes, PLEASE do an episode on mature skin! I’m 43 and I feel like my skin has changed in the last couple of years, so I’m always looking for solid advice, bc honestly I don’t think I’m the most talented with makeup anyway.
My mother did me a huge favor when I was 14 and would not let me wear make up until I learned skin care first. As a teen, I was mad because I had to wait, but as a “mature” woman, I thank her for that.
Master Esthetician here. Loving every second of this. I debunk these skincare myths on the regular. Double cleanse or bust. Because you should be wearing sunscreen daily. Also, cleanse for a full minute for each step. You don't really notice how long a minute actually is until you time it. Emulsify your cleansing balm or oil with the warmth of your hands. There's a reason in facials we're so meticulous.
to be fair, it's not the entire beauty industry, hourglass has repeatedly said their ambient lighting powders are NOT setting powders. but finishing powders. However I have seen countless " beauty gurus" claim they are setting powders, or say " I'm going to set my makeup with my ambient lighting powder", without making the disclaimer
Hey Johnny, I am a 58 year old man. And I love your show and you suggested PUR Powder. So after I moisturize, I go over it with a light powder, I did not want a lot of steps with make up. This works perfect and evens out my skin tone. Thanks ! You guys are so much fun to watch ! 💫💫
Full episode for mature skin is needed!! As a 53yr old who sadly didn’t take care of my skin when I was younger….all the steps and products weren’t a thing back when I was in my 20’s & 30’s, also sunscreen wasn’t used as widely as it is now. Also…most of us in my age group use our fingers to apply foundation. All these tools weren’t a thing when I started wearing makeup 😂
I can’t say how many times I’ve TRIED to explain when I look like I have no makeup on is when I’m Wearing everything in my kit. And the look of WTF are you talking about… has been endless!
SAY IT FOR THE GIRLS IN THE BACK! I did not wear air brush makeup for my wedding (June 2023), everyone tried to talk me out of it. I just wore my everyday foundation. Then I slightly upped my everyday makeup, and it was the best decision I ever made! I never felt more like myself!!!!!
Yes! Bronzer is NOT for contour. You don't know how long I have been yelling at clouds about that. And brushes all the way. No time for sponges. Have an insane brush collection and love them all.
Once I found Korean and Japanese sunscreens that not only work with my oily late 40s textured skin but that I actually enjoy using, it was easy to put on everyday. Even a mediocre SPF should act as a primer. The finish and formula need to pair with what your skin needs.
It's official! You and Kevin (also my bf name) are my two most favorite content/podcast creators. The real genuine and honest love you both have for makeup/beauty is such a joy to watch. Not to mention the fun you have together makes me lol w/ you❤
Would you please do a segment on your favorite sunscreens and how to layer it depending on the formulations without changing the lay down of foundation?
I had a friend that slept in her makeup since HS! We are now 42 and she recently posted a picture of her daughter sleeping after a recital… WITH HER MAKEUP STILL ON… you know I had to comment!
You guys have seriously become my favorite podcast along side Do We Know Them and I’m having to binge watch all your older episodes! You two make me smile! ❤
OMG! Sea Breeze astringent! Then 10-0-6 Lotion, tons of benzoyle peroxide including Stridex scrubbing pads, then St. Ive's Apricot Kernal exfoliating scrub, then PanOxyl soap.... My parents took me to three separate dermatologists and every one of them kept telling me to use those products that were stripping my skin of all moisture, leaving me with acne AND dry, flakey skin. One put me on antibiotics for almost three years!!! But not a single one of them ever advised me to avoid sugar and fried foods. Look how far we've come, guys! When my son started breaking out in adolescence I was so much better equipped to help him improve his skin, and now that he's a young adult I have him on a simple skincare program including sunscreen and his complexion is gorgeous. If only I could go back in time and help out my young self....
Ugh, we got airbrush makeup done by a salon for my SIL's wedding (salon was booked by and paid for by her/her family). It did actually end up looking pretty good in photos (even if initially I thought it looked a little orange/took dark-- I'm very fair skinned), but it never. dried. down. It was so gross and slick allll day. I hated it.
Sea breeze was a staple in my teenage skin care regimen in the 1990's. I can still smell it! Don't mention the St. Ive's Apricot Scrub, used on the face, waaaaayyyyy too often....
Lol 🤣 a friend of my from highschool, had a little sister, who every single night during the week, would put her makeup on the night before. She said she didn't have enough time in the morning, because the bus came to early! And she slept like a dead person so she wouldn't mess her look up!
OMG FINALLY!! Someone who is realizing that BRONZER AND CONTOUR ARENT THE SAME!! Holy cow! To see beauty Gurus using BRONZER as a contour makes me want to SCREAM! I feel like I'm being gaslit hahahah
I think if I were literally paying for someone to do my makeup, I'd go with their discretion 😅 like, sight your concerns, but don't just assume they're wrong. I'm not gonna pay a plumber to fix my pipes and then tell them how to do their job lol
29:46 Us gal's in our 40's+ are rejoicing! I have loved tight lining since my teenagers taught it to me! I stopped wearing eyeliner and mascara on my bottom lashes when I turned 40 because I felt it made me look Older! Please, please teach us how to apply eyeliner without pulling on our eyes. When we were taught to apply eyeliner we were told to straighten out our eyelid but I don't know how to do it any!! 😭
I remember Sea Breeze - menthol & chemicals- that stuff stripped every bit of oil off your face. Love watching you both- your friendship is so fun to watch!
Guuuurrrlll! I am 54 years old. I have been wearing deep red lipstick since I was about 21. And I am DAMN sure not going to stop now! I totally agree that an older person can wear so much more than we are told to believe. There is no reason anyone over 40 cannot wear a saturated lip, or a dramatic eye, or a shimmer. It's all in how you wear it, baby!
Listen, I’m an old haggard bitch,😂 so I need this “mature makeup” but I’m also a queen from the 80’s so, honey, I wear me some eyeshadow! If you can see it in the dark, I’m happy! Lol. I do get lots of compliments on my eye makeup from twenty year olds, but I would like some more tricks, just to do something different every once in a while. Trust, they’ll have to pry my eyeshadow from my cold dead hands. Love you both!!! Can’t wait for your new episode to drop each week. You’re my new favorites!! ❤
Seriously, I love you guys so much. I wish I could take you shopping with me. It feels like it would not only be a hilariously enjoyable experience, but so educational and informative as well! Have you guys thought about doing live master classes? I'd drive up to Jersey for that!
Once again, you are like air conditioning for my soul this summer. On SPF, let me testify, as a 40 year old Drag Queen, who has been performing for the past 22 years in Tel Aviv Pride (warmer than LA, more humid than Miami) in the scorching sun - YOU NEED SEPARATE SPF UNDRNEETH YOUR MAKEUP. If the sun can burn through DRAG MAKEUP, it burns through the two pumps of foundation regular humans use.
I remember draping and thought. .what?? It made no sense and ridiculous. People need to trust their own instincts regarding faddy, trending circus like techniques..love the channel. So real, informative, entertaining, and fun. I laugh out loud..
Omg, thank you for talking about skincare misconceptions! My skin never looked dewy and glossy after my skincare routine and I always assumed that meant I wasn’t using enough or that my skin was dehydrated. Feels validating to hear that I was doing it right and my skin isn’t supposed to look like that. Glad it’s all soaking in correctly!
I'm the mom of 15-year-old, and a 13-year-old. My requirement was that my kids learn to wash their face and apply sunscreen regularly before I'd let them wear makeup. I didn't learn about skincare and daily sunscreen until I was in my mid 30s. I don't want them to struggle the way I did, so they're allowed to wear makeup if they remove it completely every night, and wear a dedicated sunscreen after showering in the morning. I'll talk them into a retinol product when they're older. Baby steps. I want them to build good habits as kids.
40:25 … I saw a UA-cam short of a girl using the elf blue color corrector to make a bronzer an actual contouring color. I tried the technique this morning and loved it!
Another thing about tightlining on mature eyes: you also see the tightline skin area more because the lashes tend to get sparser and thinner as we get older, exposing more of that skin as well
Johnny and Kevin the conversation on settling into fine lines and mature skin is so freaking relevant. I hardly ever hear discussion about it and even at 33- your girl’s got some fine lines!! I didn’t know what I was doing wrong putting concealer in that outer eye area and you’re right it always creases and I look worse and older. Thanks you guys for always coming on here and giving us real accurate information about makeup. You’re the real MVPs
Wow Seabreeze! I’m 60 and I remember that stuff. It was horrible. My skin is dry anyway and that stuff took it to a whole new level…something akin to Death Valley dry.
Sweeney Todd is my favorite musical (which is saying something!). Johnny Depp 1000% deserved the Oscar! I saw a broadway production that was a reinterpretation where it took place in an insane asylum and the inmates and doctors perform the musical with limited sets and they each played an instrument as well. It was mind blowing.
This was so much fun! Also…really helpful. I’m a face and body artist, and I find that people assume that since I know how to do face paint and special effects I must be a makeup whiz. Talk about myth busted! I can’t even do my own makeup, but I am learning with your help. Going back to setting spray vs powder for a moment, which would you lovelies recommend for face paint? The paint I use is a wax-based, water-activated formula. I had been using E.L.F.’s setting spray to try and extend the longevity of wear, especially in hot summer months. But your conversation today made me wonder…should I in fact be using a powder? Oh and while we’re here I’ll join in raising my hand for that mature skin episode. Yes please! Okay, much love from Colorado! Thank you for everything you put into these episodes.
I know you asked them, but I’m a makeup artist who has done cosplays and costume makeup - definitely set with a powder! You can use setting spray after too. But that powder is really going to help make it last. You can get a translucent one for vivid color face paint or a white one if you’re using white or light gray. After a few minutes, very lightly dust off any excess powder with a brush and then use your setting spray.
@@heathermalone9091 you’re welcome! Hopefully they’ll see your comment and give some more tips. Oh yeah, for setting spray, Cinema Secrets has the best setting spray I’ve ever used. I haven’t tried it again in a while, but I remember it working super well. It’s kind of expensive though, so maybe stick with your ELF spray and just add the powder to the routine, hoping the powder really helps your work last longer!
@@KittenKat1313 I feel like I just got a free class, thank you so much. 😊 Since you're being so helpful and generous with your knowledge, do you have a favorite brand of powder to recommend? Thanks again! Even if the stars are busy it's so nice to know the community has each other's backs. 🫶
@@heathermalone9091 it’s no problem. I think sharing tips and tricks is super important to do in our industry. Why hoard information? For powder, I always use Ben Nye Neutral Set in Colorless (so it’s basically translucent) or Dermablend loose setting powder in Original. Both are a little pricey, but I’ve also heard of a brand called Mehron; which is half the price of the two above. I’ve never used it myself, but people in the theater industry use it and I know a few special FX pals who are familiar with it. Then there’s also Coty Airspun powder is cheaper, lots of drag queens use that on face and body. I know some people suggest baby powder for setting body paint, but I try not to use that just because of personal preferences. So it really depends on your budget.
Sleeping in make-up... eweeeugh!! I was old school white face, grey eyeshadow contour, scrape it off with a trowel goth and I don't care how wrecked I was when I got home from the club that stuff was off - down to the last little flake of mascara - I can't even imagine!
I live for the tips in these videos. I was thinking who is still sleeping in there makeup? but then you guys brought up people asking to get their makeup done the day before for an even so, they didn't have to do it the next day......The way my brain did a 404 erro on that.I had to do a full system reboot.
(Esthetician here) The amount is usually about a 1/4 teaspoon which is usually about 2-3 finger lengths depending on the thickness of the formula. I recently tried to do it with the Ilia foundation serum and it was thiiiccckkkk. I always wear a separate spf though whether foundation has it in it or not.
My goal this week is to step away from the cool toned eye shadows! I thought they were a good idea with my gray hair. Might explain why, although I do a nice job, it was throwing me off. Gonna try the bronzer/ blush eye trick. Thanks!
No lie, a Nudestix brand rep convinced me I could use a darker toned concealer as contour. I was like oh I'll give it a shot and I'm pissed I let her convince me.
Feeling so validated using eyeliner on my mature skin just on the lash line on the top lid and only on the end!...omg Seabreeze and NOXZEMA. I'm so traumatized by the smell!!! Love you guys and my new Ulta rewards acct does too ❤
"Helloooo"! 😂 I meant to say this last week but the set looks BEAUTIFUL!! The color, lights, palm trees,chairs... Chef's kiss!! 😍 Love you both to pieces!!💜 Edit...YES!! Kevin, i used Sea Breaze for years when i was younger. Lordy...I WISHED i knew then what i know now🤦
Ohhh my gosh Sea Breeze is terrible!! I used it once and the eczema on my face became pronounced 🤦🏻♀️ I have never used makeup wipes for my face, I always use melt the day away from Clinique or Tatcha oil cleanser and then I use a cleanser twice. I triple cleanse everything
Johnny and Kevin, I thank you so much for this video!! I nearly slipped off my chair nodding in agreement so hard at the things I was already doing correctly and then still as a statue as you taught me something new and helpful. It was so heartening that even though I'm older than dirt I still can use skincare and makeup to look and feel alive. Thank you gor sharing your priceless pearls of wisdom. I really love you both!! XXOO ❤️ Love to Casey, too! ❤
Yes! Please do a show focusing on mature skin! I love makeup, but as I've been aging I've noticed products I used to love not looking like they used to on me. ❤❤❤
The acne and makeup thing the fact that my dermatologist told me to use make up wipes instead of double cleansing, absolutely blew my mind, but it was because that with my specific case of hormonal, acne mixed with rosacea that double cleansing was exacerbating the acne more than just taking it off with a makeup wipe and washing my face really well was which is wild!
Omg! I wait for this and…boom..done! Why??? I could use that 1.5 hour podcast! I could listen to you two talk and talk! Well.. I’m all caught up on every episode.. so next week? Really? 😭 Please do that mature skin myth buster! So good! Thank you… love you two!!!❤️❤️❤️
😂 I worked at ULTA 20 years ago and even back then the only thing I would recommend Sea Breeze for was to help remove self tanner mistakes around hands, feet, etc. 😂
I got a tip from Tati for makeup removal that works for me is to put micellar water in a spray bottle and spray my face and use a makeup eraser and wipe it off. I love that it’s more eco friendly and efficient for me. Also, I agree that it is more difficult to achieve a no makeup, natural look. It is a lot of trial and error. So far, the Danessa Myricks Groundwork palette is my favorite for contouring/bronzing/blush/brows/eye shadow and lip liner and it truly looks so effortless. It actually was the first product in a long time to get me excited about wearing makeup again. I have started to get back into my skin care routine and it makes a huge difference in how my makeup looks for sure. I am so glad I found you two recently! Learning so much and loving it 🥰 😊
Things I would love to hear in an episode from Johnny and Kevin: International makeup trends like kpop or Indian eyeliner (after they talked about eyeliner in this episode, aunties packing on black liner, I’d love them to discuss Indian kajal black eyeliner) Hot takes on classic looks. Like people with signature looks, Marilyn Monroe, Fran Drescher Bridal makeup stories, tips for brides and grooms Favorite look from this year Just love listening to them discuss anything
We need a mature skin episode! My mom gets so frustrated with what to do with her makeup. Thank you guys for this podcast
Yes please!!!!
Yes!!! I love these guys and it would be awesome to hear them talk about that ❤
Yes, please!! ❤
I had dry skin, even as a teen, and used Sea Breeze for a while because I loved how it smelled. Not for long, those!
Please!!
This has quickly become my favorite channel on UA-cam.
Same!!
Yessssss. ❤❤
Straight facts!!! 🎉🎉🎉
AAGGRREEEE
I absolutely agree. The chemistry and rhythm is great. Fav podcast. Love this. ❤

I’ll be 60 on Sunday and you guys are a staple resource for drugstore, high end and humor!!! Well done!!
10:02 "HEEELLLOOOO" has me rolling!!!!😂😂😂😂
When Kevin said Seabreeze my skin instantly felt like every ounce of moisture was sucked out....😂 Johnny HAS to experience this at least once....
I want to see and hear (he will scream) him try it! And pHizo Hex, and Ten-O-Six!
There's literally a bottle of Seabreeze and cotton circles next to my bed right now. (The same pairing I've been using for thirty plus years.) I feel so called out.

I have rewatched almost every episode because this is my happy space & it feels like I am talking to my friends when I watch 😭😭😭😭😭

You both are fantastic!!!❤❤❤
Yes! Especially when the SPF comes in the process. I'm so confused about that!
I need a make up nightmares episode!!! Along with the mature skin episode AND dry skin makeup!!!
"I don't remember that episode...we'll watch it." You two are your own Golden Girls. I hope that we're watching you for many years to come. 😂💜
I'm 54 and you guys give me the confidence to apply makeup. My age makes me not give the tiniest flying f*ck about what people think. Love you guys.

The bronzer as contour is my biggest pet peeve in makeup LIKE BIGGEST
39:57 Kevin's face😂😂😂😂

Me too! The footage issues really put me THROUGH it! But I'm happy I saved as much as I did! Hope you enjoy it! 🩷
Still very so fun and helpful. Thank you for bringing us such entertainment♥️
I baaaathed in Seabreeze and removed my makeup with it as well. Oh my gawd the teenage skin years were rough.
Use a double cleanse even if you just wear sunscreen, especially mineral spf.

I'll take the couch!!

"No human being would wear THAT MUCH MAKEUP" *casually sips from Trixie's face*
Seabreeze FTW! And when I really wanted to feel "clean" straight alcohol 😮 So glad we've come so far ❤
40:25 … I saw a UA-cam short of a girl using the elf blue color corrector to make a bronzer an actual contouring color. I tried the technique this morning and loved it!
Another thing about tightlining on mature eyes: you also see the tightline skin area more because the lashes tend to get sparser and thinner as we get older, exposing more of that skin as well
"If you're sleeping in your makeup.... I will find you and take cleansing balm and smoosh all over you." 😂🙌👏😝🤣
I was a Sea Breeze fanatic as a teen too.
It’s so fun listening to two people be so knowledgeable about a topic I actually want to hear about
Definitely excited for the mature skin episode! I'm about to turn 47 and I could use some help.
You two need to go on the road. You both are so adorable and funny❤
I'd buy tickets for that!
The way Johnny GASPS at the things we all should be gasping at too! 😂🫶 Love you both sm, & I'm also team anti sponge like Kevin 😅
@@KittenKat1313 Oh my goodness thank you so much! That's really helpful. ✨🫶✨
A trick that I use 4 eyeliner
Take a liquid
THEN
Trace the line WITH eyeshadow
It gives it hold
AND Makes it look SOFT!
Sleeping in make-up... eweeeugh!! I was old school white face, grey eyeshadow contour, scrape it off with a trowel goth and I don't care how wrecked I was when I got home from the club that stuff was off - down to the last little flake of mascara - I can't even imagine!
I look forward to this every time ❤️ brings me joy to see happy people being authentic and normal 😂
I don’t know why, but Kevin saying Clunky, Chunky, Honey at 28:02 really took me out. I almost peed myself laughing
U guys can make this pod longer than an hour! I'll stay longer every time!! I can't get enough of u 2!!!!! 💜🥰🙌
Thanks!
Hi Johnny and Kevin! Love the energy! Always a laugh!😂😂😂
New skit, Barbara goes to sephora and Lola skumpy is helping her. Oh wait, that might be your Mac skits already. Hahahaha.
This has me dying!!! 😂
Love you guys and my new Ulta rewards acct does too ❤
"Helloooo"! 😂
I meant to say this last week but the set looks BEAUTIFUL!! The color, lights, palm trees,chairs...
Chef's kiss!! 😍
Love you both to pieces!!💜
Edit...YES!! Kevin, i used Sea Breaze for years when i was younger. Lordy...I WISHED i knew then what i know now🤦
SeaBreeze -the burn means it's working! Some hairdressers used it as a scalp disinfectant, too.
I’m sorry but this is probably one of the best podcasts ever , hosted by these personalities that I’m obsessed with ❤️❤️😁😁😘
Ohhh my gosh Sea Breeze is terrible!!
I remember Rose and Dorothy composed the song for a contest.
I got nervous when you didn’t post on Sunday. I love you guys so much. You make my week. I feel better now, lol.
L'Oreal marketing one of their foundations as 24hr is part of the problem... Among other brands doing similarly.
Omg! I wait for this and…boom..done! Why??? I could use that 1.5 hour podcast! I could listen to you two talk and talk!
Well.. I’m all caught up on every episode.. so next week? Really? 😭
Please do that mature skin myth buster! So good!
Thank you… love you two!!!❤️❤️❤️
Aw love this so much!! ❤
OMG with the Sea Breeze. I am a Cosmetologist and we used to tell mothers to use that to get cradle cap off their baby's heads!
😂 I worked at ULTA 20 years ago and even back then the only thing I would recommend Sea Breeze for was to help remove self tanner mistakes around hands, feet, etc. 😂
Lmfaooo!!! Truly nail polish remover! 😂
I still get clients asking for good old sea breese
@robinswantack4945 people must....I mean, I think they still make it so someone is buying it. But ehhh... so harsh on the skin. 😱
@@karabentley7591 like rubbing alcohol straight on you face!
I really missed the purchase or pass segment this week but I loved hearing your opinions on makeup myths!
I’m going to be here for the makeup on Matured skin Video !!! I’m 52 and in need of help ❤ sending my love too both of you Beauties 💞💋💓
Learning so much and loving it 🥰 😊
Things I would love to hear in an episode from Johnny and Kevin:
International makeup trends like kpop or Indian eyeliner (after they talked about eyeliner in this episode, aunties packing on black liner, I’d love them to discuss Indian kajal black eyeliner)
Hot takes on classic looks. Like people with signature looks, Marilyn Monroe, Fran Drescher
Bridal makeup stories, tips for brides and grooms
Favorite look from this year
Just love listening to them discuss anything
