Hi have had gold larger than the screen go threw.I think it has a lot to do with the shaking and shape of the gold..It may look flat and larger but turn it on edge it is not so big.Kind of like trying to figure out how a mouse can get thew a 1/4 inch hole.Baffles me every time.

Hot tip Mate, build a hot fire, roast the quartz, pull out of fire straight into a bucket of water. The thermal shock to the rock makes it so much easier to crush.

Burning Very Hard Quartz really helps with the crushing. Just be aware of the nasty stuff like arsenic, sulphur Antimony that could be present in your ore.

OBAMFSpike, do you know what a total fire ban is?, because it means no fires unless its a gas stove, so no he can not do what you suggested, this is not supposed to come off as aggressive.

Great video & specimen, like the new dollypot, get yourself a flat piece of rubber wider than the pot cut hole though the middle so the handle of your dolly can fit in tightly but adjustable for the size stone your crushing.
This should prevent ore from escaping while crushing.

That's awsome Chris, I'm sure your dad will be absolutely thrilled to see that you found all that gold in a 400g bit of rock, because of your videos i found some gold in a creek by my house that every one told me there was no gold in, I got to prove them all wrong, i even panned out a few tiny bits from the gravel roads around me to, I dont have enough gold around me to make use of the gold monster but that bit of dad reef rock would be a cool addition to my rock collection, My great grandfather was a rock guy and he taught me alot about them and left me a huge collection when he passed away.

Wow. That looks like insanely high grade gold ore. I've got tons of quartz with tiny specks of visible gold on it that I've picked up over the years when brook trout fishing in Cape Breton rivers. I've also found a 6.2 gram nugget, 4.8 grams of smaller gold and a few garnets. I love looking for gold and I'm in the process of buying a big piece of property with a beautiful rocky river where I've found a few pieces already, I'm also gonna get the Gold Hog Piglet Flare high banker to install on my land. I'm gonna try crushing some of my ore and panning it out. Thanks for the awesome tips. Good luck to you and I hope you find a world record nugget.

Hi chris I watched a libary DVD great info in that place. You can weigh the gold locked inside a rock so you weigh the rock dry and get the weight and multiply it by 1.9 and wet weight by tieing a rock to a stick then sit the stick on scales above the water and suspended the rock in water then multiply by 3.1
    Dry rock 378 x 1.9 = 718 grams
    Wet rock 303 x 3.1 = 939 grams
939 - 718 = 221 grams weight of gold worth to make sure if you get a big rock if it's worth your time to clean it up or crush it up let me know if its correct please

You probably noticed but I case you didn’t or for those that don’t know one side of that ore was really flat that means it came off the hanging wall or the foot wall which is the area between the two main most common rocks native to that area so if you can find the hanging wall or foot wall where that came from you can follow it right to retirement. Been watching for a few weeks now and subscribed finally thanks for posting these great videos Chris and keep them coming. Ps maybe check the area you were crushing with the gold monster in case a few pieces flew out of the crusher

When you are rolling rock you will find quite often that the gold will stick to the end of the dolly. Always brush the dolly off over the pot so as not to lose gold. You will be surprised at how much sticks. I have to handles on my dolly. Makes it easier to control and gives you more power to crush.
