What people need to realise is that, this game getting a great score/being reviewed highly in general by others, helps boost the Sonic brand as a whole. For years, Sonic has just been this juggernaut franchise with good, but flawed games. Suddenly, there’s a great game again. People will (hopefully) start looking at Sonic more favourably again. If anything, this game succeeding and leading to more potential Shadow games/inclusion in games makes me the most happy. He’s my favourite character of the series so I’m happy he’s doing so well now

It would be nice if both Sonic and Shadow were getting new games. Shadow has been kinda neglected in past decade, showing up in Sonic games and media only as a guest star, yet he is arguably just as popular if not sometimes more popular than Sonic himself. So seeing a Sonic Generations remaster with Shadow's campaign was a gift from Heavens for me honestly. The best Sonic game of past decade + Shadow having his own story in it? Couldn't ask for more!

1:02 I'd love to see a Chao Garden with online functionality. PVP, visit other people's gardens, maybe trading chaos, special events or giveaways for items that make your chao look different like in SA2 where they change shape based on the animal given to them. So many easy ideas Sega could give its fans. Cosmetics for a chao is really easy be it clothing, hats, etc.

@@elistewart3170 i agree, Nintendo definitely got inspired by Sonic to do a Mario movie but the numbers it pulls directly shows which IP has more value. It took one Mario movie to reach Billions at the total boxoffice. Sonic 2 did very great numbers but its really not the same. Ironically people love Luigi some even more than Mario, it was really the Wii U that flopped and the 3DS was more niche compared to the DS and Switch despite it selling very well. However Sonic has a much better cult following, Mario hasnt evolved much pop culture wise than him being a 'flat character' for videogames. The movies really gave them the needed depth to their 'character'. But Sonic always had more personality already from the 2d sprites and games nevermind when the 3d games came.

This is the only review i've seen that hasn't said the original Generations campaign is 'dated' which is a baffling accusation when it's better than any other 3D Sonic game and more visually impressive than Frontiers or Forces. Sonic Adventure 2 is my favorite sonic game ever, I played it so many times as a kid. I also played a ton of shadow the hedgehog, it was my first branching narrative game. I’ll definitly check out this game
Excellent review, really glad to hear on replay that we can chose what song to listen to in each stage. I wonder if they'd further support the game? I'd love some DLC where we get to play as Knuckles, Tails, Silver, etc. even if it's just Vergil (DMC) style and we just replay through the existing campaigns, it would increase the replay value of the game tenfold!

Being able to play Rail Canyon and Kingdom Valley after so long were not only so much fun to play, but also brought back so many fond memories. Aside from Speed Highway & Rooftop Run, those were my favorite levels to get the fastest time(s) ever back in the day

It's 40% currently. And the Shadow portion of the game is honestly the most fun and confident a Sonic game has felt since Mania IMO. Forces, Frontiers, and Superstars all disappointed.

That doesn't seem like the case here though there's a lot of call backs to Shadows iconic history and it finally does him justice. I'll be sure to check those comics out.

I just played the original sonic generations last week and i must say the stages stand out even up todays standards. The "story" was ass so im ready for the rewrite
Hey, really liked the review, the gameplay looked like someone that enjoys the game and that gets what it’s about. I feel like in the current days we lack that understanding that not every game has to be for 100% everyone. Someone who does not like this genre in general will not enjoy it nearly as much as someone that does. This doesn’t mean games cannot be criticized. With this game I feel that it’s a dopamine rush for me as the flow is very consistent and gets more fun and challenging without being too frustrating. It can be easy without the goal of a better time in mind but with it - it’s pure fun and a search for a perfect run just like surfers search for a perfect wave.
The best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Generations is a remaster of Sonic Generations with a Shadow campaign. Insane.

It would be nice if both Sonic and Shadow were getting new games. Shadow has been kinda neglected in past decade, showing up in Sonic games and media only as a guest star, yet he is arguably just as popular if not sometimes more popular than Sonic himself. So seeing a Sonic Generations remaster with Shadow's campaign was a gift from Heavens for me honestly. The best Sonic game of past decade + Shadow having his own story in it? Couldn't ask for more!

1:02 I'd love to see a Chao Garden with online functionality. PVP, visit other people's gardens, maybe trading chaos, special events or giveaways for items that make your chao look different like in SA2 where they change shape based on the animal given to them. So many easy ideas Sega could give its fans. Cosmetics for a chao is really easy be it clothing, hats, etc.
I would love to see chao garden make a return someday I feel like it’s money left on the table for Sega at this point.

The fact that IGN gave this a 9 out of 10, hearing plenty of hype for the upcoming movie and all the other cameos he's made in other games this year. Nintendo definitely got inspired by Sonic to do a Mario movie but the numbers it pulls directly shows which IP has more value.
It took one Mario movie to reach Billions at the total boxoffice.
Sonic 2 did very great numbers but its really not the same.
Ironically people love Luigi some even more than Mario, it was really the Wii U that flopped and the 3DS was more niche compared to the DS and Switch despite it selling very well.
However Sonic has a much better cult following, Mario hasnt evolved much pop culture wise than him being a 'flat character' for videogames. The movies really gave them the needed depth to their 'character'.
But Sonic always had more personality already from the 2d sprites and games nevermind when the 3d games came.

This is the only review i've seen that hasn't said the original Generations campaign is 'dated' which is a baffling accusation when it's better than any other 3D Sonic game and more visually impressive than Frontiers or Forces. Excellent review Jada and glad to hear it's quite long, i was expecting it to only be a few hours.
I’m sure pros will finish it faster than I said but I took my time with it and was experimenting with a bunch of things.

Sonic Adventure 2 is my favorite sonic game ever, I played it so many times as a kid. I also played a ton of shadow the hedgehog, it was my first branching narrative game. I’ll definitly check out this game
I think I watched some people playing it at an afternoon care centre at my sister’s school.

Excellent review, really glad to hear on replay that we can chose what song to listen to in each stage. I wonder if they'd further support the game? I'd love some DLC where we get to play as Knuckles, Tails, Silver, etc. even if it's just Vergil (DMC) style and we just replay through the existing campaigns, it would increase the replay value of the game tenfold!

Being able to play Rail Canyon and Kingdom Valley after so long were not only so much fun to play, but also brought back so many fond memories. Aside from Speed Highway & Rooftop Run, those were my favorite levels to get the fastest time(s) ever back in the day

It's 40% currently. And the Shadow portion of the game is honestly the most fun and confident a Sonic game has felt since Mania IMO. Forces, Frontiers, and Superstars all disappointed.

Imo the humor he has is very meta/mostly “hehe “x” character said the thing” references but he’s a good writer, IDW was great for the most part and Ian is actually a Sonic fan so I imagine that’s why people want him writing Sonic games now like he does in SXS Gens
@@tubebammy Fair play it's nice to see so much love being put into the games stories I know they're usually pretty light hearted but it always felt like something was missing. That doesn't seem like the case here though there's a lot of call backs to Shadows iconic history and it finally does him justice.

Hey, really liked the review, the gameplay looked like someone that enjoys the game and that gets what it’s about.
I feel like in the current days we lack that understanding that not every game has to be for 100% everyone. Someone who does not like this genre in general will not enjoy it nearly as much as someone that does. This doesn’t mean games cannot be criticized.
With this game I feel that it’s a dopamine rush for me as the flow is very consistent and gets more fun and challenging without being too frustrating. It can be easy without the goal of a better time in mind but with it - it’s pure fun and a search for a perfect run just like surfers search for a perfect wave.
