For awhile, his earlier videos inspired me to write alternate history stories about whatever time period we were learning about in Social Studies at that time (a few i even turned in for a grade for projects, and my teacher was genuinely surprised anyone cared that much)

Rather than 2012 at the channels founding, the only remotely believable divergence point to imagine a universe where A.H.H wasn't created would be the 1996 U.S. Presidential Election. An America under the leadership of Bob Dole may sound like an implausible scenario but no later divergence point holds up to scrutiny.

It was actually your Fallout lore videos that got me into your channel, and stayed because I also have a fascination with alternate history scenarios. I was also a huge fan of Red Alert growing up, and Man in the High Castle is great. Love that you're taking a look back at your older content. Just shows you how far you've come and grown.
I massively respect you for being able to acknowledge that you said some really bad shit in the past, acknowledge that it was shitty, and apologize. Mad props.
I don't know if this'll just get lost, but I want to thank you for existing on UA-cam. As an author who writes out of the realm of normal, I never thought to imagine a world where history played it differently than it really did until after highschool, eventually settling on my work taking place in a reality where the Soviet Bloc still exists. I have so many ideas to thank you for that, had I not have found you or your channel, would have likely never came to be. I do hope this reaches you in good light and thank you, a thousand times over, again.
As someone that grew up loving your videos, I feel like I matured alongside them. Going back now and watching the old vids definitely puts it in a different light. But that simplicity and fantastical attitude the old vids had were what gave me the interest as a kid to fall in love with history. Im sure there are thousands of people just in my generation that feel the exact same way. Thank you for putting in the work for us Cody
This got me so sentimental, I remember watching your old videos when they came up, then I would go and talk about the topic the next day with My friends at middle school here in Mexico, a lot has changed in your channel and in my life in all of this years, but here you still are making this videos that seem amazing for me since day one, thank you Cody

Hey amigo, you’ve grown as a creator and we have grown as people, literally. Many of us were children when we first began watching your content years ago. Your early videos existed so your new videos can today, and the old videos helped spark our imaginations and fuel our curiosities. Much love.
Honestly love when people do this content. It’s nice to be able to roast yourself. Been around since 2017 and it’s been nice to see you continue to grow especially through UA-cam’s bs.
The alternate history genre was a big part of what made me interested in learning about history. Now that I've learned more, some of those old stories seem goofy but I'm not mad that I read them.
I smiled the entire time watching this because I relate to this so freaking much. My speech pattern drives me NUTS in my first videos from like 2011-2013. It’s like I was trying to be “too professional” It’s a hard lesson on UA-cam to loosen the hell up and enjoy what you’re doing.

This is probably a Mandela effect, but I always remember your voice as it is now. I've found your content entertaining and mildly informative, and I hope you keep it going for some time to come.
Cody! Don't sell yourself short! Your content was, is, and always will be amazing!!! Also, it is my firm belief that Cody's best video is "What if UA-cam Destroyed us all?" A video that I fully believe 201% deserves a sequel.
This channel was one of the sources that fostered my love for history and led to me taking more studies into it to eventually try and pursue some type of historical or literary degree. So, thanks man. Even if the old videos appeared to have aged poorly, we're always gonna beat ourselves up over past work after we've improved so much. Pat yourself on the back for coming so far.
Oh man. I have seen many UA-camrs rip apart other channels or videos in this style. But doing this with your own past self … that is high level. Respect!
Cody, you are one of my favorite channels, and the channel that I have subscribed to for the longest. I have been with you since 2014, ever since the "What if the Americas never existed?" video. You have grown tremendously, both in the context and quality of your videos, and in your personal life. You were still in high school back when I first discovered and subscribed to you. Now, you are married and have a child. I was in 7th grade when I discovered you. Now, I have finished my fourth year of college, but I have not graduated yet. I am so glad that you have improved the quality and content of your videos. From 2014-16, you often spent the first half of your video summarizing the real history behind the topic of your alternate scenario. You only discussed your actual scenario in the second half of your video, but mostly provide mere generalizations. You justified your short generalizations by saying "this is just one of the many possibilities. We will never know how...", which left the audience in a cliffhanger. Now, since around 2017, you have changed for the better. Your new videos are about your alternate history scenario first and foremost. You now only provide necessary real-world information during the first few minutes of your scenario, and spend the remaining bulk of your video on your scenario. I appreciate this change because an alternate history channel should be about telling the story of the scenario. Your old style of videos made me disillusioned for some time, but your change is what kept me loyal to this channel. It was also this previous satisfaction where I eventually discovered Whatifalthist. my other favorite channel. He has since transitioned away from alternate history, and is dedicated to real history, geopolitics, current events, and anthropology. I am also glad you reformed before Whatifalthist's genre switch in order to provide a beacon of hope for the Alternate History community in UA-cam and beyond. I love this channel, and I wish the best for a new generation of objective and realistic alternate history UA-camrs and creators to follow your lead. 8:54 I never knew the Tyler from Suggestion Box was a different Tyler from your brother. I always thought they were the same Tyler.
Dude this is taking me back to being in middle school watching your videos in 2014, the nostalgia is combining with the cringe at unprecedented levels.
You're a person who has learned and grown, and taken the time to criticality analyze exactly how you've grown and changed. I respect that so much, and can only hope to emulate that within my own ethos
what I like about alternate history, and it is a thing that I think you do really well in your videos, is that by presenting this speculative alternative, you show how big of an impact the actual history has had on our culture, technology beliefs, and just the world in general. the two best videos you did the really illustrates this is the one about "what if the great lakes of north America" didn't exit" and your "if the moon was inhabitable". you do a great job Cody, keep it up. and remember to take care of yourself.
It’s nostalgic seeing Cody’s old videos that I haven’t seen since high school. The Godzilla video was my first introduction to this channel and I have not regretted it since I look forward to my alternate history fix when Cody uploads a video. Cheers to 10 years and many more years to come.
One of my favorite things I've realized is that virtually every single fan of alternate history can say, "Well it started because I got this book from an author called Harry Turtledove."
Except me. A cousin tried to get me into Turtledove. At first I was intrigued, and then he told me that WWII had aliens and I noped right out. I like Alternate history. I like science fiction. I don't want them together.
Cody dude, I've been following you for 10 years too. I love your content. I sometimes rewatch all you videos and its been nothing short of entertaining, informative, and just AWESOME. Dude, you got me through college. Thank you
I would love to see an updated video on if Godzilla/the Monsterverse were real, how the world would react to it. I always thought that topic was super interesting
Agreed. Godzilla being real could go any number of ways thanks to the different continuities. Is he the only Kaiju running around, or do others show up? Would we be able to build weapons to fight them like Mecha Godzilla? Would Ultraman show up?!
I've literally been watching this channel since the "What if the Roman Empire never collapsed" series and all I can say Cody is that you've grown so much as a content creator. The videos you make now are so much better than your old videos but this video was a nice little trip down memory lane. I even remember when you finally got a good mic and you sounded so different that I thought they had replaced you as the narrator lmao.
Well as a long time viewer since 2014-2015 throughout multiple channels of both you and your brother, I do really love the new content but sometimes when your old content pops up I don't hate it, you helped fuel my love of alternate history throughout some pretty formative years of my life. Thank you Cody even if your old content wasn't great back then I and many others loved it.
Funnily enough I remember beings Iike 9 years old when this came out totally forgot it came from you. That’s actually how I originally found your channel. Then I stated to watch some of your other videos at the time and I actually got into the alt history through you. But never really understood it I was way too young. And started watching your channel about the same time. For the better of for worse you changed my life. Thank you for everything Cody! ❤

Boy does AlternateHistoryNY brings me back. I remember starting that channel for fun but not being able to continue it…(Life getting in the way and such). Just wanted say Cody it’s always good to in at yourself for self reflection (trust me a few videos Id want to redo because they don’t reflect the way I think now or were so improbable or I’ve learned a lot more then I knew compared to 2012). I think this is the first channel I watched on UA-cam, a friend introduced me to it probably 7 or 8 years ago now. It's kinda crazy to think of how UA-cam has (more or less) become the default means of entertainment in my life since then and the hours I've spent on it.
Rewatched some of your old videos recently and while I wouldn’t say they’re terrible your content has definitely improved over the years. One of my favorite channels on UA-cam when I first started watching and still the case today.

For awhile, his earlier videos inspired me to write alternate history stories about whatever time period we were learning about in Social Studies at that time (a few i even turned in for a grade for projects, and my teacher was genuinely surprised anyone cared that much)
Literally same, this channel fueled my love for history, got me into althis and it's the sole reason I started my own timeline (almost 6 years in the making and counting)
@@idkissausername1667 this channel also sparked my love for history. 5 years later I'm a World War 1 nerd with no bitches
A week ago, I decided to watch all of Cody's listed videos from oldest to newest. This was the perfect ending.
how do you sort by oldest on youtube
@Phroyt what are you suspecting?
This was actually pretty cool to see the channel history. Now we just need an alternate history scenario where this channel never existed

I absolutely love the fact that Jimmy is now the OFFICIAL mascot of this channel.

18:13 immediately made me interested in an alternate history where Hitler was a paragon of civil rights instead of being... Well, Hitler.
So Tyler is a real person, not just an alter ego who went on a rogue descent into madness? That's good to know.
"does Hitler stand for trans rights" is an incredible quote
It’s funnier knowing that no in fact he did not stand for trans rights and that the first books the Nazis burned were on gender / sexuality, a lot of which was lost for decades. Research about gender reassignment surgery as well. People either are ignorant to this or they don’t care but trans people (the few that were in Europe) were sent to concentration camps under the “homosexual” category
I know for sure I don't

Couldn’t have been that bad, I’ve been watching for over 8 years!
Also, the standards and expectations for UA-camrs has evolved and grown. At the time, you were probably viewed as favorably against you’re peers as you are now.
You’ve grown, your skill has grown, your knowledge has grown, your resources have grown…
You did the best you could with what you had and you continue to do so. I look forward to another 10 years!
That is actually a really good point.
I find myself feeling really critical about the production value, script writing, and articulation of new or niche UA-cam channels.
Thing is, good UA-camrs today used to be like that, but back in those early YT days, we didnt have the finely polished content we practically expect now.
@@stevid8193 To be fair, the availability of quality equipment and software has improved tremendously. Making it way easier to make a good quality product. Damn that's cool. Bigups
As a fresh 18 year old who has dabbled in video production this is really relatable.
If you want to feel more embarrassed, imagine a 12 year old showing a history teacher your original axis victory videos and thinking he’d show them in class
@Seeing Star I hate how UA-cam deletes your comment for the slightest “bad word” but it permits bots go berserk and ravage the comment sections…
Wait did you actually do this?
No god damn way. I would be absolutely mortified.

Some nice character development
It was actually your Fallout lore videos that got me into your channel, and stayed because I also have a fascination with alternate history scenarios. I was also a huge fan of Red Alert growing up, and Man in the High Castle is great. Love that you're taking a look back at your older content. Just shows you how far you've come and grown.
I massively respect you for being able to acknowledge that you said some really bad shit in the past, acknowledge that it was shitty, and apologize. Mad props.

"Jimmy youre a cartoon mascot for an alternate history channel. Your chances with women died long ago." *EMOTIONAL DAMAGE*
Alternate history is one of my favorite history subjects on UA-cam, and its great to see how much you have improved!
Man I’ve been watching this channel since 2014, when I was 13. I remember the alternate flags and the old intro. Now I’m 21 and married with a kid. It’s funny seeing Cody grow up at the same time I have

Damn bro, you should have worn a condom. My condolences.
Congratulations on 10 years Cody! Way to slightly improve!
Underrated comment
You should bring back the suggestion box, it'd be funny as hell
The idea that Cody, at one point in time, didn't have a voice as deep as the Marianas Trench kinda breaks my brain.
Normal voiced Cody scares me
Hey amigo, you’ve grown as a creator and we have grown as people, literally.
It’s like I was trying to be “too professional”
It’s a hard lesson on UA-cam to loosen the hell up and enjoy what you’re doing.
I appreciate that you get past the "history is pretty colours on map go big/small" phase, really help me build another perspective in learning history
You and filthy frank are the only UA-camrs I've watched consistently since I found out about UA-cam when I was 12 or 13. Unfortunately and fortunately he's moved on but you stayed and I look forward to your videos. I always try to watch within a week when I find time. Thank you Cody for being one the best channels out there. Interesting and always improving content

Got introduced to Alternative History through your Red Dawn scenario, it's Fascinating that you
even made a Novel based around a scenario you never got around to talking about

Wow…I watched this channel since I was in 8th grade and now I’m senior history major in college. Never would have thought this channel would have influenced my life
This is probably a Mandela effect, but I always remember your voice as it is now.
I've found your content entertaining and mildly informative, and I hope you keep it going for some time to come.
No I remember the same
Cody! Don't sell yourself short! Your content was, is, and always will be amazing!!!
Also, it is my firm belief that Cody's best video is "What if UA-cam Destroyed us all?" A video that I fully believe 201% deserves a sequel.
18:10 this is the CRAZIEST THING I HAVE EVER FUCKING SEEN
Makes me wonder who made that in the first place 😭
That Fallout video was both what got me into the games, into history, and into your channel, and I'll always be grateful for that
This is electric 😂 I appreciate the humorous retrospective on your channel. I wish every channel had a video like this.
@@jakeaurod I completely forgot about that series. Lol. Yeah that's fair.
Depends upon the age of the person asked. For instance, Turtledove himself credits L Sprague de Camp in the introduction to The Enchanter Completed.
Ive been an avid subscriber since 014 and Dude, you never disappoint.
Yeah, it was the Godzilla video that hooked me.
I HAVE BEEN ENTERTAINED!!!

Happy 10th Anniversary, Cody! Here's to 10 more! Who knows? Your voice might get even DEEPER!!
If it gets much deeper, he'll have to talk really slow, and then we'll have to speed up the playback to 2x just to be able to hear him
Cody dude, I've been following you for 10 years too.
THIS. Gimmie how society would change with the threat of Giant Monsters having their own wars please.
I remember watching that in like 2013/14
cant wait until 2 years later for him to make a video called My Old Content 'My Old Content Was Terrible' Was Terrible
As a long-time viewer I appreciate the massive evolution this channel has undergone! I've been watching it since 2013 or so.
I've been watching you since 9th grade, you basically kept me entertained for nearly a decade.
I want a Alternate History Hub video in the style of his old ones but professionally done right now
Well as a long time viewer since 2014-2015 throughout multiple channels of both you and your brother, I do really love the new content but sometimes when your old content pops up I don't hate it, you helped fuel my love of alternate history throughout some pretty formative years of my life.
Now I’m 17 stressing about rapping up my last year of high school. Man does time fly about a year ago I got really invested in alternate history. And started watching your channel about the same time. For the better of for worse you changed my life. Thank you for everything Cody! ❤
“Zoom in. Zoom out. Weeeeeee,” Had me in stitches laughing 😂
I remember coming in around the “50 states, 50 scenarios” videos, and this is the channel that directly got me into alternate history. It’s one of my big passions now. Happy 10 years Cody!
Most importantly though I’m glad you’ve stuck with it and Im more glad your channel has thrived!
Big respect for doing this. I often times reminisce how cringier I was before and how poorly I wrote and... yeah it's a sign of growth. King shit Cody!
I lost it at the pan to the Boston Marathon video and the “stop screaming at me” thank you for all the laughs Cody we love you
I think this is the first channel I watched on UA-cam, a friend introduced me to it probably 7 or 8 years ago now. It's kinda crazy to think of how UA-cam has (more or less) become the default means of entertainment in my life since then and the hours I've spent on it.
Been watching since near the beginning, been great to see you evolve.
Rewatched some of your old videos recently and while I wouldn’t say they’re terrible your content has definitely improved over the years. One of my favorite channels on UA-cam when I first started watching and still the case today.
15:13 that had me howling 😂
I really like the sentiment of "Not taking alternatehistory seriously and consider it fiction". I mean a small thing like moving a sandwich shop to a diffrent location can have a big effect, but there is no way to know. Especially if it is in Sarajevo.
I’m very grateful for this channel. I’m about your age and I first discovered it way back in 2013-2014 so I’ve grown up along side you and the channel, it really is something special. Thanks Cody.
Ironically, your video on the Fallout lore was the reason why I got into both your channel and the Fallout series since 2015. I’ve enjoyed your content and hope you keep doing what your doing!
The first video I watched of yours was the Godzilla video and my nine-year-old self was blown away at the amount of research put into it!
The old content gives me a lot of nostalgia, the years in which I grew to love history and you helped me get more interested, thanks you for all your videos Cody ❤
