Talking about whether to cut a bloom spike or not after the flowers fade.... I go by the saying--- "If it's green(the spike) don't be mean... if it's brown, cut it down." :)

i once treated a phalaenopsis with crown rot, with propolis. i don't know if it works for stem rot. but it is non toxic and natural. my treated phal slowly withered, but produced two very healthy keiki's.

I really like your videos and the growing tips and the rational for why you do them.
I am having a new problem that I hope you can help me with.
On some of my phals, the new leaves split at the tips. The plants look very healthy otherwise and I would like know what I can do to prevent this from continuing. Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Question for next week's Q&A: why did you choose to move from Romania (I think?) to Cyprus? It's not really orchid related, but I would be interested to know! Cheers :)

I liked the way you had your phalaenopsis on the shelf last year. Why you hide them there down this year? Looooove your videos!

Yes, I misspelled Miltoniopsis, thank you! I asked that question, because I wondered if some pseudobulbs are naturally wrinkly.
Also, I want to search for certain videos. Where can I do a search of your videos?

Hi Danny! Thanks for another great video! I have two questions for you which you maybe will be able to answer in one of your videos or down here)) So the first one is - what is the size of clay pebbles of seramis that you use? Here in the USA i found something similar called Monto Clay with size of 1/4 inch (6-7mm) and i don`t know if it is gonna be too small or OK if used with LECA. the second question is about Miltoniopsis. As i live in Florida where we have humidity about 85% and heat around 32C for 6 months i am afraid that it is too warm for this type. Can they do well indoor with regular temperature about 25C with working A/C and humidity around 60%? What is confusing me is cold air and not the best air movement. Thank you!

hey danny, i was wondering if you have a suggestion on how to manage a growing space with orchids like cattleya's that are warm growers and if you have other orchids that originate in high altitudes likes odontoglossum types ? i will be putting the cold to intermediate ones in clay pots as you suggested in another video , but i'm grappling a little bit these days with the fact that they need a lot of humidity , air rotation and how to supply it when the catt's might be affected by this ? would a tray with ice cubes underneath the orchid help it stay cold ? these are just thoughts , when i bought odontoglossum i didn't realize how much they like cold growing conditions, i just thought they were oncidiums so thats why i ask . Thank you so much xoxo

Hello Miss Orchid Girl - awesome video! I wanted to ask you a quick question. How's your Aliceara Diana Dunn Gothic orchid doing? I just saw your spotlight video and thought that was a very beautiful orchid. Also, when I researched it, I found that very few orchid shops actually sell Aliceara orchids. Is there another name (other than Beallara) for it?

Hi Danny! Been watching your videos non-stop :) So much great content!! :-) I have a quick question (didn't find an answer in your other videos): Do you think its ok to re-pot a blooming orchid? I got one from a nursery but thy planted it in sphagnum moss and it looks too moist! I'm worries she'll get root rot! Please let me know your thoughts! Thank you in advance! Zamira xoxo

Hi Danny! Do I need to "trigger" an orchid to go dormant, or will it go into dormancy regardless of the conditions (temp, humidity, watering, etc.)? I have mine in a greenhouse with a day/night temp differential of about 12°f (68°- 80°) and am concerned that my deciduous and semi-deciduous Dendrobiums have not gone into dormancy. One has lost some leaves on the "middle-aged" canes, but I think that was due to the red mites it had...had (woot! 😁).

Hi, what are your thoughts on keeping orchids outside? Now that the weather is warmer I'm debating bringing them outside, however, I'm worried about pests or disease. Do you notice any difference between outdoor orchids vs indoor orchids? Also, which orchid species prefer more sun? In Florida I see all the big vandals outside dojng really well but some of my vandas turn purple when they get too much sun.

hi Danny, thanks a lot for your help.i have been watching your videos since I had the first orchid .and now my orchids are all in good condition.
I am wondering how I should use the fertilizer spraying on the leaves and the fertilizer soaking the roots, can I use both at the same time,or have to be one after the other?

Danny, my novelty phalaenopsis pogo grape has not grown a new leaf or show any growth. My regular phaelenopsis has new growth. It's been 1.5 months already. The roots have not grown either. Leaves are the same. Does novelty grow slower?

If you got a cattleya in 3 inch pot what is the next size pot to use when you transfer them.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  6 років тому

Depends how big the Cattleya is :) if you are using organic medium, the root system should fit in the new pot, but not be very very loose. If the orchid has no roots, just make sure the pot has about 1 inch space from the latest cane to the rim.
