    As retirees over 65, we got into many of the sights free of charge. China really looks after its elderly.

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  3 місяці тому +44

      This is 100% right! We loved seeing how much people and the government took care of senior citizens. All the exercise and social groups we saw - they're really valued in the culture. Whereas in the US, we have a tendency to push older adults to the fringes. We could take a few notes from China on this.

    Greetings from the UK! Love your vlog. We were in China in April and once we familiarised ourselves with the Wechat and Alipay apps, our biggest delight was booking taxis through DidI, the Chinese equivalent of Uber or Grab. It's soooo CHEAP! The taxis always arrive within a couple of minutes and a journey, for example, of 40 minutes from bullet train station outside the city to our city centre hotel costs us around 8 quid (British sterling) or just around 10 USD. And for shorter journeys, they are no more than 2 or 3 USD. And oftentimes, you get a reimbursement (!!!) on your "payment at booking" if the journey takes less time. To us in the West, where a taxi ride costs an arm and a leg, this is mental!! We were zipping around in taxis all the time in China. We do know the metro is INSANELY cheap but why not indulge ourselves? And to get a reimbursement is truly unbelievable. Truly made us wonder why the Chinese system works so well for ordinary folk whereas in the UK we are suffering from a "cost of living crisis" that is escalating daily!!

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  3 місяці тому +29

      Again, 100% accurate. And, same thing in the US - we have so many broken systems that make simple things totally out of reach for the average citizen. Once you're set up with all the apps and familiar with how things work, we were shocked at how easy and seamless everyday transactions were. Food delivery, transportation, etc. These systems were totally built with the average citizen in mind and with the goal of improving quality of life. I know it isn't all sunshine and roses for all of China's citizens, but as an American it was incredible to see and made me a tad jealous.

      Keep in mind that $1000 USD/ month is the average salary for a young adult in China. Still the purchasing power of $1K in China is probably more than $4K in the US or UK.

    In China is like in wonderland. Everyday is an adventure. Astounding sceneries, clean, green and extremely safe. In the US, you have to watch your back every time. Every where you go, you see the same old, Mcdonald's, Burger King, Starbuck and the air in the streets is polluted with the smell of unburned gasoline. Terrible.

    The face changing technique is a very secretive technique that is only passed down generation to generation to a very small handful of people. You guys are so lucky that you have enjoyed this show. I doubt most of the Chinese including myself have not watched it in person (although watched it often on TV during festival season). You guys are very educated people which can be reflected by the contents of your video and your showing the motto from Gandhi. I have followed a few Couple(husband and wife or bf/gf) UA-camrs from the USA since the beginning of this year. I feel most of the UA-camr couples from the US are very eloquent, educated and well-informed even before the trip to China. They did their homework and research very well. Whereas, some other UA-camrs (don’t want to mention their names here) are just spontaneously responding to what they see and hear in China thus sometimes making lots of inaccurate statements or speculation during that video, misleading the audience and wasting their time.

    • @kineticpassports
      @kineticpassports  3 місяці тому +7

      The face changing performance was mind-blowing, and we feel so lucky to have seen it. And, thank you for the incredibly kind comment! We try hard to learn about and understand the countries, places and cultures we visit. Of course, we sometimes fall short - but, that is part of learning and growing. Our time in China was very eye-opening, and we were so appreciative of the warm welcome we're receiving in this comment section as well as from the people we got to meet in person.

      Well, if the word about Chengdu got to us - then, yes - they're doing a good job. But, the city also lives up to the hype :)

    Downloading an online translation software would be very helpful,welcome to china!

      We used the native translate app in our iPhones. But, that requires taking lot of screenshots of pages from the apps we were using and running them through it separately. If you have a suggestion for a better app - let us know! We’d love to know for next time!

      The automatically generated English language on your video cannot appear in Chinese characters when selecting Auto Translate into Chinese. You may be using the wrong method or software when editing the video. It's a pity that many chinese missed this video because most Chinese people don't understand English. 😅

    虽然现在中国是挺干净现代化,但在融合古典文化方面还有所欠缺,或者说等规划者们意识到的时候已经太晚了,这也只有八十或九十年代的资深旅行者才能体会到的,可惜很多风景已经绝版了。而且我发现现在很多外国博主很少能发现中国真正美丽的地方,所反映出来的都是些工业化的地方,这些个地方也只有菜鸟才会去。
