I never understood people’s fascination with mukbang until I went to Chengdu’s panda research base and watched this one panda eat bamboo for a solid 45 minutes. The panda had three motions: reach for bamboo, put bamboo in mouth, chew, repeat. I took around 150 photos and 20 video clips, all of the same things. It was mesmerizing. Glad you had fun in Chengdu! The food is a amazing.
the panda that I observed in Ocean Park in HK ate like this: gather branch with bamboo leaves, stripe all leaves out in one stroke with its paw, then eat the stack of leaves in one go. They also left some carrots out for the pandas as treats.
Amy, we are very happy to have this experience with you, and we are honored that you can get a new awareness about pandas. Welcome to know more panda stories with us in the future.
Amy, mate, you have nailed it for my girlfriend with this episode. She now demands me taking her to Chengdu Panda Base within this year as her Valentine's day present. I am now under pressure !!!
Blondie, you are the most positive Aussie I have seen. I enjoyed your videos even though I am 50 years older than you are. I have the opportunity to visit Chengdu Panda Research Center in 2018. We were with a tour group and the tour guide came back and told us our admission was free because we were over 70.
I love her being positive and energetic too! Yup many places are free for those aged 70+ - not age discrimination or something it's just the culture of China to show respect and offer convenience to this age group.
One more funny thing about the baby panda, if they have close interaction and bound with their caretaker, they usually learn to answer human talks with Sichuan accent, and some of them seems to learn to listen a bit of Chinese language... There are a lot of footages of Chinese tourist said something, then the panda suddenly start to give related reactions...
When I was teaching in China some friends and I took a weekend trip to Chengdu specifically to go see the babies while they were still little, and we all definitely had a cuteness overload, lol! Thanks for the warning!
So glad and emotional that you visited my hometown 😭 Can’t wait to see what you will discover in this lovely city. Thank you so much for sharing Chinese culture and hope you enjoy your trip in the place that you wouldn’t want to leave~
These Chengdu videos will unlock so many memories from my first visit to China but this panda 🐼 one especially. I loved going here and even seeing the red panda enclosure as well! Eating at the bamboo restaurant was wild. “Could they really make a menu with that many bamboo dishes?!” Yes. The answer is yes.
Chengdu is so far but Amy has managed to brought panda stories nearer to us. Some good points to pick up for panda visiting times and period. Bravo 👍👍👍
So excited to watch this video! I’ve always wanted to study in China- thank you Amy for showing us different facets and aspects of China. Hope I can also get there soon.
Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, your goal can't be achieved in recent years. China is locked up, and it is difficult for Chinese people abroad to return to their hometown.
Omg, so cute! Also feels like such a refreshing experience to be walking in such a calm, quiet place while enjoying the presence of pandas. The food at that restaurant actually makes me hungry. I really plan to visit Chengdu and pandas when I travel to China! Thanks for sharing!
Gosh, last time I visited the base was 5 years ago. It was a summer afternoon, so boiling that all the pandas were staying indoors. But I did see two 1-month old tiny pandas, they were so cute. This video just reminds me the good old days. Thank you so much, Amy!
"Looks like avocado." Hahaha, except this one doesn't spread as evenly on toast. ;) I'm slightly terrified seeing them cling onto the shoots at such great heights, though. Almost doesn't seem like it'd be physically possible for them to climb that high given their size. Also didn't know they're as small as mice as newborns.
Hi Razear, there's a thing about Panda, they seems not aware of their size and weight, there are often incident happens in the wild bamboo forest when large sized adult panda fall from tall trees result in brain bleed, the chinese panda protection orginisation have to rescue them ... bit dumb eh.haha
This is one of the reasons for the scarcity of wild pandas. Some wild pandas will go to the treetops on the edge of the cliff to sleep, and they may fall down at any time.
I volunteered at one of the panda conservation centres in Chengdu on a school trip in 2017 and their "avocados" smelt like sweet potato to me😂😂 they don't smell bad at all!!
Nice to see you come to my hometown the 2nd time while I am stuck in Canada for over 2 years because of COVID. Enjoy the great food and Panda Dwen Dwen in a same sity there!
Awesome video! I’m heading to see the pandas tomorrow morning- looking forward to it but not looking forward to getting up so early- Chengdu has been too much fun!
Oh gosh, brings my money back. I love China, I love Chengdu. Hopefully, we could walk out the Covid - 19 thing soon, so I will move back to China again. Thx Amy, another great video. China you are amazing as always!
Amy, how you are always looking super happy with full of lives and energy. You are always inspiration and refreshing, never a dull moment watching your video . Keep it going.
Another fascinating video Amy. When I was a little kid in UK, I had a photo of 4 pandas taken as a group back in the 60's by my uncle who was a photographer. It was extremely rare to see more than one panda together outside of China back then so I treasure this photo very much. Needless to say the photo was in black and white....ha!!!!
There are only two world gourmet capitals listed by UNESCO in China, which are Chengdu and Shunde. It explains a lot why Amy is so in love with these two cities....
This is a nice clip Amy. Now I am expecting you to take a video for the Koalas in Australia. I heard they eat a lot and sleep endlessly everyday as well.
I kinda remember you were gonna get some ukulele lessons from the last I saw your video ... such an immediate progress, and the song in Mandarin is a wonderful and pleasant bonus! ... "他们不很笨... " lol 😆
Lived in Chengdu for 3 years, studying and working, and my uni is 15 minutes by metro from the panda base, I've been there 3 times, Lol. Another must-go place in Chengdu is Jiuyanqiao bar street(九眼桥), Amy.
Hi there Amy, how are you? I missed you so much, it's been a while that I didn't see any of your videos. I'm glad to see your video in China, it's so cool and panda is very common here in this country.
Baby panda is just soooooooooooo cute! Can Taronga Zoo have one panda when the relationship between China and Australia gets better? And well, I have to say the guy in the video is also soooooooo cute😂!
I have been Chengdu many times but never been the Panda Base. Now after watched your video, I really want to go there and try those delicious food in the bamboo restaurant!!
🥑❤️ if you know you know 😂😂
🤣
😂😂😂 👍👍👍
😆😆😆
Evil avocado production line exposed😏
The Cuteness Warning is referring to the Pandas or to Blondie? =)

Awww, the little panda babies in Chengdu (成都) are really adorable, and it is a sensational place to visit. 🐼
They are the cutest animal in the world.

@@zww9397 Lol, now what? Never make such absolute assumptions unless you are the GOD
Born and raised in Sichuan and from your video I just figured out my childhood question - why the Pandas were always asleep when I visited the zoo.
Omg, so cute! Also feels like such a refreshing experience to be walking in such a calm, quiet place while enjoying the presence of pandas. The food at that restaurant actually makes me hungry. I really plan to visit Chengdu and pandas when I travel to China! Thanks for sharing!
Jealous of you can travel freely during pandemic and without any conflict.Amy you always full of energy with high spirits. Thank you for sharing w us.

Hi Amy, love to see you full of energy and being passionate in your adventures. Your energy is contagious.
This is the best overall panda introduction video I have ever seen. Thank you so much!
I volunteered at one of the panda conservation centres in Chengdu on a school trip in 2017 and their "avocados" smelt like sweet potato to me😂😂 they don't smell bad at all!!
So you didn’t bamboozle us, you actually did go and meet some cute pandas! :D
Hahahah yes! No clickbait here!
Being humble as your earrings will always help you to experience the best of life. Keep it up!
2:50 That's Beijing time in Chengdu! Such a giant country with a single timezone
Of course, a country is unified for a time, otherwise it will be a mess.
So excited for this Chengdu series !!!

This is a nice clip Amy. Now I am expecting you to take a video for the Koalas in Australia. I heard they eat a lot and sleep endlessly everyday as well.

OMG, so cute, both the pandas and you, Amy
i love how they did an exhibition with all the types of panda poops, kind of quirky but informative
Gosh, I envy you; you have seen more Chinese places than I, a Chinese much older than you.
Hi there Amy, how are you? I missed you so much, it's been a while that I didn't see any of your videos. I'm glad to see your video in China, it's so cool and panda is very common here in this country.
just sooooo cute isn't it!!
Chengdu, Sichuan province, is famous for its food, beauty and pandas
Chengdu has a lot of westerners too and I heard that their mandarin has Chengdu accent. Maybe Amy can help find out? 😃
I didn't heed the warning and passed out due to an overdose of cuteness. But I'm happy to report that due to the grace of God, I survived.
熊貓太可愛了,不能抗拒。
so incredibly cute and great video!!!! thank you !!
Reminds me of the first seeing Bamboo, I thought they're small and cuddly animal. Imagine the surprise seeing a real one is they're HUGE.
Baby panda is just soooooooooooo cute! Can Taronga Zoo have one panda when the relationship between China and Australia gets better? And well, I have to say the guy in the video is also soooooooo cute😂!

It’s Valentine’s Day, and my heart broke today when I found out Blondie already has a boyfriend. 😭
Another advantage of going early is that it's not so crowded.
