Thanks SS. One of the guys at work asked me why I aimed the camera out the back window, but that's exactly what I do when I hit the NOS, I check the rear view mirror to see the rubber marks fading into the background. Just made sense to me to put the camera that way. Already ordered my Centerforce DFX. If that doesn't work out I'll look into McLeod. Thanks.
Something else I forgot to say.. here we finally have a guy that has enough money and enough good taste to own some badass rides that are done right... but better yet, he isn't scared of hitting the gas, or the nitrous! Im so tired of watching 900HP idling down someone's driveway. Well done Dave! You're alright in my book dude.
@hotkeepr7 I am a pure 100% v8 guy, and nothing would ever change that, but I do agree with your comment, I respect other opinions and love cars of all kinds, period! Im glad to see there are people like you out there!
Thats a great video. I love the view of seeing the tire marks left behind, especially from a pretty good speed. Look at McLeod clutches. I know people running big power, in heavy cars, with slicks and have very high praises for them.
T/A, thanks. I like that one too. My new and improved clutch is in the car now, so 100 miles of break in and I can try to get that 4th gear, 70mph burn out on video again. Keep watching!
I have never seen a better car video on You Tube than this one. What a monster. The sound and the rear facing cam is awesome. Love to see the rubber put down.
@flybikes90 That was a Centreforce dual friction. I went to a Centreforce DF/X after this video for about 500miles. Now I run a McLeoad twin disk rated for 1200hp. Seems to hold on, but I have not tried the 4th gear NOS trick on the McLeod yet.
@540merlin The zit popping+opinion=Best laugh I have had in a long time. Wicked auto....I own a 540i bmw and came across you by your tag. LOVE IT. Keep up the great work... Im sure you will turn under 10 when you hit the track. Have a great day!
@SBCriss It's hard to quantify. $20k for the basic engine, $10k for the exhaust, $5k for the tranny, $5k for the rear end, etc. I budget for an engine rebuild every 15,000 miles ($10k each). What I can tell you is that the cost to drive this car is $5 per mile. BTW, that's all Canadian.
I'd like to know how you blew the clutch just by punching the throttle ..... with or without the NOS.Did you take any pics of the old pressure plate and disc? If so ..... can you post them somewhere so we can have a look at what exactly failed?Great demo! Thanks.
In such a high gear it takes a lot of torque to move the car. Thats why we typically down shift. In this case the clutch became the weak link, the torque the engine made trying to move the car overcame the clutch thus burning up the friction disk. The last trail of black smoke you saw wasn't exhaust that was friction material from the clutch.
@540merlin i wouldnt expect this to hold together with a stock line youd be detonating every time you hit the gas pedal still i cant imagine you being able to feed this thing for fuel. i love this car ive got a 86 z28 thats junk it makes me happy to see some camaros stayed nice
I think I saw your clutch exit the rear of your car in the form of a small black cloud . Very nice camaro ! I like your videos , great real world demenstrations , keep um coming .
Extremely nice car man, thing sounds like a complete beast. What did you run in the quarter? Only thing wrong with it is traction on a street type of situation, but still incredible, huge props on it bro.
Mag, This NOS system has control switches everywhere: WOT, fuel pressure, ignition timing, and lastly under my right thumb. Plus a system on/off switch. Everything has to be on or nothing happens.
@burninbean The nos seup I run is very sophisticated. I have sensors for everything and the ignition timing is computer controlled. I use 16 degrees of retardation during nos use. I have been using a 10 pound bottle a week for 3 years with no engine problems. But in a car not properly set for nos you are exactly right.
Its a completely stock 540. Full solid roller, rectangular port heads, balanced and blueprinted, 950cfm holley, 250hp nos, 3" exhaust. Plus a few other things. Its pretty civilized. Sound better in real life.
Big, the car is built to be a daily driver, to and from work. I've tried to keep it somewhat reliable. The more radical it becomes, the less reliable it is. One day I'll build a weekend car that is totally insane, but then I'll probably like driving it too much to park it during the week... Thanks for the kind words. I'd love to see video of your truck. Post some for sure, and let me know.
@smgsean The factory driveshaft twisted up like a prefzel. I now run a custom made larger diameter and thicker walled shaft with oversized Ujoints. I run a 140PGM @ 10psi electric fuel pump with oversized fuel lines.
Man! I love your videos!!!! I was thinking about a 572...I may just go Merlin now...:) My friends use to tell me they could tell when I hit the Nitrous. Due to the puff of smoke. Never really believed them until I saw it in your video. I was always too busy keeping the thing straight. ...SUBSCRIBED!
@540merlin yeah but there's two versions of the RS4 a standard 4 door sedan and a wagon. Also check out the new RS5 and RS6. The RS5 has the same v8 as the RS4 just retuned and in a coupe body.
@mrcoogs86 Its tough on clutches when I hit the nos in 4th gear. I am now running a McLeod twin disk clutch rated for 1,200hp. Its holding up pretty good.
Best damn NOS demo I have ever seen, thank you, sorry about you clutch. You when you were getting on the freeway those people coming up on you must have freaked when you left a pair of hundred foot black marks and vanished completely in 3 seconds. A damn a red flash did you see it !....no !
There's no way I could resist burning rubber from every stop every time. I could be in traffic totally stopped and then just start a burnout. I want this car lol. Very nice!
@540merlin Haha well said Dave. Think I heard you say something at the end of the video about the clutch? By the way, how much maintenance/replacements do you do on your car?
Done hit those pistons with more than 100 shot. And then make sure to pull 4 degrees of timing, and make sure you have plenty of high octane gas. If it detonates for a second, kiss those pistons goodbye. But with your combo, a nicelt tuned 100 shot will be a lot of fun. A 12 bolt is a good choice, and a 700, is a nice trans, and it should be ok at your power level. Even with a safe tuned 100 hit. Good luck
@DriftStallion I remember being 16 and sitting at a traffic signal with a friend who noticed the first gen camaro and first gen firebird ahead of us and first at the light were revving their engines. "Check this out" he says. The light goes green, they dump the clutches and tear off down the street. That first time was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life. But in my video it was probably wasted on some old fart yelling "Slow down you maniac". Or maybe it wasn't - I can hope.
LMAO I wonder what all those people must of been thinking when you floor it, that thing is crazy enough without the NOS, but when you hit that thing with the NOS, LOL crazy! Glad to see your having fun Dave =], good luck with the clutch! Awesome Vid!!!
@540merlin Hell yeah it is. Wouldn't you get more out of it with a k&n cold air intake though? Isn't the engine breathing in hot air with that filter setup?
nice car. would the car eat the clutch ever time you used the Nos or was it worn out anyway? maybe somebody should invent something that temporarily locks the clutch and flywheel together so you wouldn't spin the clutch up in any gear or engine speed?
@TA6612 People keep calling my big block 69 Camaro a sleeper. Not many people on the street think - Oh, its just a big block Camaro, I can beat him no problem. Glad you liked the video! :)
I broke third gear of my Tremec TKO 600 today doing exactly what's in this video - about a 60mph rolling burnout on the freeway. In fact at the same spot as the "short NOS blip" at 1:28. I was beginning to think that tranny was indestructible. Not quite.
... looks like might be in the Vancouver area... Surrey - Langley or somewhere like that? If so, would love to see the Camaro run when I'm down there again, I'm in the Okanagan. Nice car.
Nitrous all depends on how much you run. I have a 250hp shot - it makes a big difference. If you run a 100hp shot it will make a lot less difference. But you can only run the total hp that your engine is built to withstand.
You should take that car to burnout contests. If they are a drag tracks you could probably burn the tires all of the way down the track. That would be awesome to see.
@AzrielUndead This is Canada, they don't even know what NOS is around here! The car has been fully inspected for compliance with local regulations including the NOS system and has passed. Twice. I guess its okay around here. Although one cop did ask me once, "What on Earth do you need NOS in a street car for?" Seemed like a dumb question to me...
beautiful car buddy. ive just bought a camaro here in the uk and its got nitrous. now ive owned loads and loads and loads of cars. never one with nos though..... its a stock engine though. do you think there will be much improvement? thanks for the video.
Burnouts on the freeway only stay visible for like a month. I gotta keep going back and re-marking my territory with new "Hershey" marks.
How can you not love this video?
An excellent demonstration of a 540 Merlin enhanced with a blast of NOS. Right on!
Iron American Dream on UA-cam.
10 years old and still the best damn Nos example on UA-cam!!
Thanks.
Having run nitrous many times I can appreciate this video. We could break our 17" slicks loose at 100+ if we got out of the groove.
Nice video!!
Something else I forgot to say.. here we finally have a guy that has enough money and enough good taste to own some badass rides that are done right... but better yet, he isn't scared of hitting the gas, or the nitrous! Im so tired of watching 900HP idling down someone's driveway. Well done Dave! You're alright in my book dude.
thats freekin incredible how you tromp it and the cars behind you fade away so quickly! this is my favorite video on youtube, period!
How to merge like a boss.
@hotkeepr7 I am a pure 100% v8 guy, and nothing would ever change that, but I do agree with your comment, I respect other opinions and love cars of all kinds, period! Im glad to see there are people like you out there!
1 of the best nitrous videos ever
Thats a great video. I love the view of seeing the tire marks left behind, especially from a pretty good speed.
Look at McLeod clutches. I know people running big power, in heavy cars, with slicks and have very high praises for them.
T/A, thanks. I like that one too. My new and improved clutch is in the car now, so 100 miles of break in and I can try to get that 4th gear, 70mph burn out on video again. Keep watching!
Every time i come across one of your videos it make me smile. I cant wait till i have enough money to finish my restoration on my 1968 firebird!
I have never seen a better car video on You Tube than this one. What a monster. The sound and the rear facing cam is awesome. Love to see the rubber put down.
Gosh this thing is legendary
Hey - watch the language! :)
540merlin Hey! Watch the speed limit 😝😝
Busy trying to keep it in a straight line...
540merlin I can definitely see you having problems there 😂 Watch the differential!
Excellent demonstration, it opened my eyes on nitrous!

Wicked auto....I own a 540i bmw and came across you by your tag. LOVE IT. Keep up the great work... Im sure you will turn under 10 when you hit the track.
Have a great day!
Very nice. I got a 69 Nova with only about 420hp and it's a beast I couldn't imagine trying to keep this camaro on the road. Very impressive.
Those black marks left behind at crusing speed tell the story! Great job!
Love the difference the nitrous makes! awesome power!
Jeff, I'll put slicks on it when I run it down the drag strip. And I run Lakewood Scatter Shields in both cars. Definately want to keep my legs!
@540merlin Love your videos man I own a 68 camaro. 496 dynoed 813hp and 821ftpounds. It was set up for drifting smacked the wall when a tire blew out.
BTW, that's all Canadian.
the one thing that would've made this movie perfect is the shape of a civic quickly shrinking away into the distance ;) awesome Camaro man
I'd like to know how you blew the clutch just by punching the throttle ..... with or without the NOS.Did you take any pics of the old pressure plate and disc? If so ..... can you post them somewhere so we can have a look at what exactly failed?Great demo! Thanks.

The last trail of black smoke you saw wasn't exhaust that was friction material from the clutch.
@@gruntrucker1 Correct, except clutch smoke is white. The black smoke is from a rich fuel mixture when the accelerator pump is used.
Action, the vehicle inspection that cops send me through on a regular basis does not check for NOS. So its not illegal.
How have I not found your videos until now ... love it!!
Thanks Chris, I,m glad somebody enjoyed, besides me!
Love seeing your Corvette and Camaro! Keep making those videos.
This never gets old
@burninbean The nos seup I run is very sophisticated. I have sensors for everything and the ignition timing is computer controlled. I use 16 degrees of retardation during nos use. I have been using a 10 pound bottle a week for 3 years with no engine problems. But in a car not properly set for nos you are exactly right.
Your cars never cease to amaze.
Was the clutch worth it?
Apparently that's a long held secret 🤐
I use a 10 pound bottle of NOS every week in my daily driving of this car to and from work. I spend as much or more on NOS as I do on gasoline.
Its a completely stock 540.
Full solid roller, rectangular port heads, balanced and blueprinted, 950cfm holley, 250hp nos, 3" exhaust. Plus a few other things. Its pretty civilized.
Sound better in real life.
One of the best videos I ever enjoyed watching, thanks!
@supersport396 You got that right - I am now running a McLeod Twin Disk rated for 1,200hp. Light as a feather and works great so far.
❤50mph to 120 in 3 seconds had me feeling like I was going to throw up a little 😂 that was awesome
The side view mirror should read "Objects in mirror are about to disappear" ;) That fucker hauls!
I'm not a chevy guy but I respect a well done Camaro. My hats off to you.
@smgsean The factory driveshaft twisted up like a prefzel. I now run a custom made larger diameter and thicker walled shaft with oversized Ujoints. I run a 140PGM @ 10psi electric fuel pump with oversized fuel lines.
Wow!!!! This car is amazing!!! I wonder what the people on the freeway thought when you were merging in! Lol! Awesome vid!
Probly admiring the car. It is impressive.
Man! I love your videos!!!! I was thinking about a 572...I may just go Merlin now...:)
My friends use to tell me they could tell when I hit the Nitrous. Due to the puff of smoke. Never really believed them until I saw it in your video. I was always too busy keeping the thing straight. ...SUBSCRIBED!
I never seen NO2 explained like that, excellent video, sorry about your clutch...Damn !
@Londil Thanks. Haven't done the quarter yet, but I will. Traction is an issue, that's for sure.
Damm Dave that thing is one hell of a beast.
WOW!!!!! That was great. I have always wanted to see something like that
That is the most wicked car I have seen! WOW!
Biggest smile i've had on my face for weeks....
Best damn NOS demo I have ever seen, thank you, sorry about you clutch. You when you were getting on the freeway those people coming up on you must have freaked when you left a pair of hundred foot black marks and vanished completely in 3 seconds. A damn a red flash did you see it !....no !
You where on # 10 highway then on too 99 north to Vancouver !!!! Nice that means I might see you in person one day..
There's no way I could resist burning rubber from every stop every time. I could be in traffic totally stopped and then just start a burnout. I want this car lol. Very nice!
Nice car! It's a good thing I didn't have NOS on my old 70GTO. All the drinking and street racing we used to do.
that thing is a BEAST how fast have you had it? It is one of my favorite videos on youtube. A great example of American Muscle.
I think Jeff Spicoli said it best "Awesome! Totally Awesome!"
@540merlin Haha well said Dave. Think I heard you say something at the end of the video about the clutch? By the way, how much maintenance/replacements do you do on your car?

Man. The burnout at 1:08 is boss.
you can tell when you hit the NOS, you see that little puff of burnt fuel come out the back, Fucken Love It
@DriftStallion I remember being 16 and sitting at a traffic signal with a friend who noticed the first gen camaro and first gen firebird ahead of us and first at the light were revving their engines. "Check this out" he says. The light goes green, they dump the clutches and tear off down the street. That first time was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life.
But in my video it was probably wasted on some old fart yelling "Slow down you maniac". Or maybe it wasn't - I can hope.
now this is a good video not over the top or "bragging to much"
just screwin around having fun with a cool camaro..
LMAO I wonder what all those people must of been thinking when you floor it, that thing is crazy enough without the NOS, but when you hit that thing with the NOS, LOL crazy! Glad to see your having fun Dave =], good luck with the clutch! Awesome Vid!!!
@carmaniac355 I'm going to come by and check out all the rubber on the road that I heard about.
@540merlin
Hell yeah it is.
Wouldn't you get more out of it with a k&n cold air intake though? Isn't the engine breathing in hot air with that filter setup?
Godamm that nos is incredible
nice car. would the car eat the clutch ever time you used the Nos or was it worn out anyway? maybe somebody should invent something that temporarily locks the clutch and flywheel together so you wouldn't spin the clutch up in any gear or engine speed?
now that is some serious torque
@TA6612 People keep calling my big block 69 Camaro a sleeper. Not many people on the street think - Oh, its just a big block Camaro, I can beat him no problem. Glad you liked the video! :)
BAD ASS BROTHER!!!! what are you running approximately in the 1/4 with street tires??
@ 0:55 that's one hell of a way to change lanes!
Good Times accept for the clutch. Very cool video
Nitrous....Such fun, but so rough on the rest of the drivetrain. Have you stepped into any bigger jets?
All I can say is WOW! ---- Very impressive!
I broke third gear of my Tremec TKO 600 today doing exactly what's in this video - about a 60mph rolling burnout on the freeway. In fact at the same spot as the "short NOS blip" at 1:28. I was beginning to think that tranny was indestructible. Not quite.
well u needed a new clutch anyways! one of the few carbarated setups done right. Very NICE!!
Bear, nitrous is really cool when it all works well,
Money well spent Dave! =D
Are you ever going to install a system on the Stingray?
"A regular basis" Do you drive to work like that everyday? Because I know I would!
... looks like might be in the Vancouver area... Surrey - Langley or somewhere like that? If so, would love to see the Camaro run when I'm down there again, I'm in the Okanagan.
Nice car.
Too much torque for your clutch to hold onto - incredible!
Fun vid to watch, thanks for sending it over
Nitrous all depends on how much you run. I have a 250hp shot - it makes a big difference. If you run a 100hp shot it will make a lot less difference. But you can only run the total hp that your engine is built to withstand.
Absolute bad ass car sir!! Very Nice!
@ 140gpm im surprised your not having fuel starving issues. or do you have a second pump for the nitrous?
amazing machine MR Merlin !
oh my bad. im assuming you still could add on to the block if you wanted to. does it take off when you floor it without NOS?
Welcome Dave.
Very cool Dave! It's scary fast!
Holy shit your car is badass! Sounds amazing, so much torque, I'm jealous...
beautiful car buddy. ive just bought a camaro here in the uk and its got nitrous. now ive owned loads and loads and loads of cars. never one with nos though..... its a stock engine though. do you think there will be much improvement? thanks for the video.
is nos very noticeable when you hit the button? also is a fogger set up way better than a plate system? Thanks!
