bizarre.. i mean.. i guess if i was walking through the mall and this was their muzak I'd be like, "oh that's cool.".. but these guys have got one of the greatest living blues rock players alive.. who here is produced to sound like 1000 other LA studio musicians playing the 100,000th version of LA studio whitbread "funk" music. Great players all. Great engineering. Great tones, chops.. none of that is good enough to save this flaccid emotionless tune. If Phil Sayce ever does anything like this I'm gonna scream. Good for Bonamassa for stretching out into something else.. except this doesn't sound like him anymore. Ugh.. need some Howlin Wolf now

You're thinking of jazz not funk but even at that they sound precision not forced. I have followed these guys for awhile and all of them have a real love for the music. Name one really good funk band that doesn't sound precision,because in funk precision and players on the same page matter.
Proper funk music is tight but not forced, it is the same as reggae music, some bands have that real groove but others sound like they are forcing the rhythm and not feeling it.
