One time I was trying to climb a waterfall so I could get to the top of a mountain. Easy enough huh? I jumped trying to get to the base of the waterfall to scale it, but halfway down the waterfall, I suddenly veered into a cave and died. At least I found a shrine.

3 years late, but I think he eventually figured out that it was one where you had to roll a snowball down a hill or something like that, and it did it by itself somehow. It was super far away though, like on the other side of the mountain he was on, making it even more baffling.

You are traversing the Death Mountain Maw, and come upon a large stretch of hot springs. You pause to relax. As you stare off into the distance, you hear a distant and distinct noise: the sound of a Guardian's aiming mechanism, followed by the sound of a laser firing and the subsequent explosive blast. You look up to see the source of the sound. A lone Hylian traveler carrying nothing but a sword and a shield is attempting to kill one of those wretched machines. The beeping of the aiming mechanism quickens, and you see the traveler ready his shield, as if to parry a laser. You think he is out of his mind. Soon, you are proven correct as he takes a Guardian's deadly laser head-on. The blast causes a miniature rockslide, as the traveler's body is thrown down into the springs by the explosion. His limp body is broken on the cliffside, only to be revived by a fairy's magical healing light. Soon after his body hits the bottom of the cliff, and perishes as his freshly deceased corpse rolls into the springs. But you thought you heard one thing out of the traveler's mouth as he fell. You thought he said, "MOVE YOUR BODY PREEBLY"
I kind of regret not watching any of these botw streams as I did not want to be spoiled on any of the locations. I can only imagine how much more funny moments that had happened with this.

It'll still happen if you're manually steering the horse. The "doesn't run into stuff" AI kicks in when you don't touch the control stick for a certain period of time.

It was never useless in my opinion. It just used itself when i only wanted to normal cover behind my shild. And i was much to lazy to always do it on and off. So it kept on.
