Its hard to find small bakeries that make their products right in the store anymore. We have 1 bakery like this around me. The rest of the places are grocery stores and Dunkin donuts, where the baked goods are brought in by truck and they don't taste good and are stale. When I was a teen, Dunkin donuts stores actually made the donuts in the shop and they were big and delicious. Now they're small, no flavor and stale.
That's how they become richer and richer. The quality goes down, the size does smaller, the portions go smaller, also the waste, and the price goes higher.
@@helloworld7818 true. Its just sad there's no pride left in the business. Thats why I try to support local bakeries and will not go to grocery stores and DD. If we let these small mom n pop bakeries down, we no longer have a good and decent product. They won't go out of business if more people support them. Cheapest isn't always worth it. Always, if u can, support local businesses instead of the mass marketers. Its a win/win situation. We get a good product, even if it might cost a few pennies more, and it keeps them from going out of business.
I'm not from Brooklyn, but there's a small pastry shop I've gone to for years, its fantastic, but lately I've been seeing shortcuts because they need to make a living. Same everywhere, I understand but if they compromise quality for quantity, they'll end up losing.

Even in the small family shops (I worked in one in the early ‘90s) they’re usually not formed or cooked by hand, either. There are machines to drop the dough into the fryer and they come out of the oil on a conveyor belt. Plus the icings are all shipped in big buckets, nobody is making caramel in a little sauce pan lol. This is the proper, old-school way. 😍🍩
@@darrylpeeler5518 we can only get Krispy Kreme glazed donuts in prepackaged boxes at grocery stores around here. I'm not a fan of glazed donuts or prepackaged ones.

@@jagburg6665 I agree! It's no coincidence that for the most part Koreans are near perfectionist putting hard work above anything else. They put a heavy influence on education and thru old Confucius beliefs: respectful, benevolent, considerate, loyal, listening and gentleness. These are some of the importance of one's value system. Each person should symbolize the importance of raising the awareness to be intelligent enough to make wise decisions in life, physically and spiritually. I respect Koreans and I love their intellectual minds.

Let's appreciate the fact they do it all by themselves,because a lot of bakeries and shops order from somewhere. Like it happened more than once that I found the exact same bread in different bakeries.

I remember buying garlic bread, so the guy behind the counter asked me if I want it warm. And I said yes. Ohhh boy. Got in the car, husband started driving only to find out it was just a plain sub. No butter means no garlic 🤣🤣🤣

Because they are basic. Bigger shops have machines that do this. Too much work not sure what they charge, but I don't believe they turn a big profit
@@bilal9210 I still think the result is better when done by hand, because you get a better looking donut. Machines can do most of that work, but not the finishing touches that make them look so good. And I would think it is easier to add an ingredient into the glazes if doing it in a bowl by hand instead of having to take down a machine.
