I made 32 quarts applesauce this fall for daughter. She is fighting cancer so it is up to me to do all the canning now. At 70 it gets hard but must do! Blessings to all.
I call mine “Autumn Applesauce.” It’s sweetened with maple syrup and spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. I always serve mine with roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy. I think I will try cardamom next time!
I used to make apple sauce with my grandma when I was little, it's been a long time lol I think I'll make some and take it to her this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration, Linda! Love your channel!
I have canned applesauce many times. We love it! Mine always turns brown in color. Then it dawned on me when you added the cardamom...it is probably the cinnamon and nutmeg! Thank you for this and CANUARY is awesome!
I'm going to be 67 next week and I still love peanut butter sandwiches with applesauce and carrot sticks. Lol! Adding cardomonn sounds fantastic. Can't wait to try it. Thank you!!
This is my great grandson Riley's favorite snack. He would eat it everyday if his mom and dad would let him. Thanks for the recipe. Now, I can make him lots and lots of goodies.
Yay for Canuary! I’ve been wanting to do applesauce - one thing I’ve never made. It’s encouraging to see you use grocery store apples. Using store bought apples is the thing that has kept me from making it - I grew up in Ohio where apples were abundant and you could but them by the bushel. Now I’m in So Cal - no one even knows what a bushel is - LOL. I guess now I feel like I have permission to use store bought apples now.
Apple sauce was one of the first things I ever canned. We lived at a place with an apple tree and there were a ton of apples. So I think it was my gateway to canning because it progressed from there. :)
Applesauce was the first thing I ever canned many years ago. Me and 2 friends got 4 big baskets of apples from an abandoned farm yard. It turned out great. We froze some, canned some, made jelly and applesauce. Fond memories of friends long gone.
Two years ago was my first year to can applesauce from my parents apple trees! Last year there was no apples at all. The squirrels got every apple off the tree.
I thoroughly enjoy canning applesauce. Four years ago I canned 3 bushels of apples. It was ALL gone in 2 falls. Just been busy taking care of husband’s health issues. And applesauce is something he digests well. Win in all ways!!!
It's been many years since I bought a bushel of apples & canned them 4 different ways. I miss those days . . . but I still can apples when I get a bunch! Thank you!
Glad I found you again. Haven't canned in 7 years until now. So fun. Big canners are not available around here and I have a glass top stove. I really hope to win that canner. Thanks Linda.
A friend had a tree that just over produced like crazy and was begging for people to come and pick! I picked for me and other friends as I love picking fruit then canned pints for my grandbabies especially. The love it!
Love to make homemade applesauce!! I'm blessed with two apple trees in my yard that my mom planted years ago. I think of my parents every time I make it. Thank you for your video!
I make a chunky cranberry applesauce with pumpkin pie spice. It is delicious and everyone always ask for some. It’s nothing you can buy in the store. I make 24pints at a time and it never lasts long. Thanks for your wonderful videos. I’ve been a fan for years.
I use Jona Gold Apples and they are sweet enough that I don't have to add any sugar! I also cook the apples on low in the crockpot overnight. The kitchen smells heavenly in the morning! YUM !!
