I got this a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. I'm no professional touring rock star, so I don't need it to do more than it does. It does all I want it to and then some. You could spend over $450 on 3 or 4 good stand alone pedals. Well worth it, and not too hard to get into.
@@林盛恩 True but as a profesional touring rockstar, Angus can afford to travel with his classic loud Marshalls, whereas the rest of us schmucks are left to deal with whatever backline gear is available at festival gigs that we have to fly to ;)
Best thing you can do with these is go to the global EQ and put the high cut on 12k, then turn off the high cut on the cabs. For whatever reason the global eq is way more intense than the high and low cut on the cab block.
I bought one of these recently and man, it has changed my gig setup for the better and I genuinely feel more confident on stage. If you sit with it a bit and make your own patches, you can make some kickass sounds on this bad boy.
Yup! The POD changed the options for so many of us. From having to go to a studio to being able to record rad tracks in a bedroom wayyy before VST amps. Super thankful for that. really digging what Line6 is doing right now. Although I think they should have called it the POD GO HX, it really doesn't matter, because once you know its HX modelling and you see the price of the unit its hard not to say 'wow, good job Line 6'. I'd totally buy one if I didn't already have an interface with HELIX Native.
It's not the same as Helix though, despite what people might tell you.... the input stage is different, less headroom (which is noticeable if you have them side by side as I do), if you turn all of the slots on then you're limited to which effects have enough CPU to be able to run, and the CPU within the Pod Go is almost entirely maxed-out so unlike the Helix you'll find that additional firmware updates don't add anything particularly spectacular. It's a good unit, but a Helix-a-like it is not.
At 450 bucks it's gonna annihilate flagship sales if you put a helix or hx tag on it. I don't know whether they officially mention pod go and helix having the same tones, but as is from word of mouth alone its selling like peanuts. 10 years ago i got the pod hd500 at a higher price (converted) than the pod go, and it feels like a toy compared to budget modellers now. What a time we live in
I was on the fence between this and the Boss GX-100. I decided on this because I found one on Reverb for $375 and it is in mint condition. While I always figured the Pod HD series just needed an IR update, there is definitely something else going on in this unit. The playing 'feel' is outstanding, as are the tones. The best modeller I've ever owned.
for fuck sake, dude. Tubescreamer in front of a boogie sim, use a decent IR, cut 3db at 250Hz. The other 60% of the tone is in your hands. Use humbuckers.
All those criticizing this and the Helix,.....a lot of band use them live, Jinjer being one of them, I know I was there about 3 feet from them in a small club in San Diego called Brick by Brick plus Eugene stated that it is his weapon of choice because he doesn't have to carry a huge rig and can have all the tones he needs, he has two, one is used as a backup. This is a little long but if you're on the fence about modeling this could be a worthwhile read. I bought one of these for late night practicing through headphones and the occasional fly gig/jam. It sounds so good to me that it has become my main rig, but there’s an important catch- I bypass the cab sims and put it straight into the fx loop return of my Bad Cat Cub 15R because, let’s face it, FRFR systems cannot recreate the “amp in a room” sound. Although I’m not about to part with my Eventide H9, the effects on board are good to excellent. I’m still pretty floored by how uniformly great this setup sounds. Just so you don’t think I’m some easily impressed noob, I’ve been playing since the early 80’s and own or have owned great amps by the likes of Mesa (at least 6), Carr, Friedman, Budda, Fender CS, Orange, Rivera, Revv, and so-on. I’ve had my favorites from these brands and I can really say that the Pod Go into my Bad Cat’s fx loop return puts as big a smile on my face as any of the above amps. Maybe I just got lucky and the Bad Cat just happens to “like” the Pod Go and it’s a great combination just by chance? Eventually I’ll pull out other amps to find out. I also think it’s important to mention that in my experience it doesn’t sound good into the front of an amp which makes sense given that you’re putting a modeled preamp into a real preamp in this scenario. Modeling has really come of age IMHO. If you’re tired of lugging a big rig around and you’re intrigued by modeling but don’t like the FRFR experience you should consider this kind of setup. You may be very surprised. Oh yeah, the day after I bought this I got an email from Fractal as I'd been on their waiting list for the past 6 months for a FM3. With all the confidence that I was making the right choice and zero regret to date, I told them I was going to pass. YMMV

I use it direct in front of my Fender Deluxe (no fx-loop) for the effects. You can switch off the cab ir's for the "amp out" in the global setting. That is a timesaver. What it needs in is the possibility to also switch of the amp blocks in the global settings. Now you have to disable the amp block in every preset, or make new user presets in the user presets.
Glad I found this comment as I was wanting to use the POD GO just for the effects alone as the pedals I like cost 150-200 each when I can just get this and save some money. I play a AC15 with no fx loop so I was just wondering how this would work just for the effects alone as I do not want to use the ir's at all. I just want a clean set up without all the cables and power supply. All I want to do is assign a different effect pedal to each footswitch for instance a OD to one and a chorus to another and so on and be able to use some of the effects together. Have never used digital FX even once so I know nothing about them. I do not want the sound of my amp to change as I love it and the only thing I want to use this for is a compact pedalboard just for the effects alone and I do not want any amp or cab sims at all..Any input would be appreciated and Thank You..

Interesting product but how well could it work with an actual tube amp, in particular if i want to use the distortion of my amp and switch between clean and distortion during a song?
You can use the PODs effects loop to connect it to your amp using the 4 cable method (if your amp has an effects loop). Guitar > POD git in POD fx loop send > amp in amp fx send > POD fx return POD amp out > amp fx return Though the pod can't change your amps channel, you can just bypass the amp's preamp, and model any clean preamp on the pod.
As someone who new to guitar effects I am not sure if the four effects slots is enough… to learn, mix and match, experiment. Do you think that’s a valid concern. Thanks for your video.

No, I wouldn't; the input stage on the Pod Go isn't as good, and that's noticeable to my ears, and the Pod Go doesn't have all of the effects from the Helix as it simply doesn't have the CPU power to do it. Also, if you turn every slot on, on the Pod Go, you'll find that you can't select some of the nicer reverb/delay effects as there isn't enough CPU power to run them.
Do you think this is something you can record a nice sound with for an album? I've been a big Line 6 fan for a while, just curious. The USB going into the DAW sounds great, so I'm assuming so...
What I do (if this helps) is set up a good temporary sound with a plugin while I record the guitar parts. Then, I go back during the mixing stage and ‘play around’ with the guitar plugin’s amps, cabs and effects to set them in the mix better. With a plugin, you have the freedom to completely change the guitar sounds on the fly. Recording with something like a Pod, you are more locked into the sound you originally recorded. Of course you can always re-amp I suppose... but, plugins are easier and a lot less time consuming. 🎸🎸🎸
i dont understand how he is getting such good tones right away without IR's i have my floor plugged into a power cab and with ir's and a lot of work i can get close. unless its just how it sounds direct in. im not sure.
I didn’t like the look of the helix because of its price and complexity. but I could see myself using this. Does anyone know if it has a preset like a Marshall plexi for when you want to make your own presets?
If you adjust a preset , does it automatically go to the user folder as a custom tone? Or does it stay automatically saved the way you adjusted it in the presets?
It has to be amped so plug it into a combo or head unit. I have one. You're supposed to be able to use it through your PC with recording software, but I don't have any do I can't attest to that.
I noticed there's a USB outlet on the back. Can this plug directly into your computer and go straight into ProTools, Garage Band, or Logic Pro, or do I still need an interface of some sort?
I remember reading a discussion about your 500x in the Line 6 forums a few years ago where guys weren't overly happy with the sound and one Italian guy chimed in about changing settings in the global eq and that made it sound awesome. You can use the PODs effects loop to connect it to your amp using the 4 cable method (if your amp has an effects loop).
Guitar > POD git in
POD fx loop send > amp in
amp fx send > POD fx return
POD amp out > amp fx return

With a plugin, you have the freedom to completely change the guitar sounds on the fly. Recording with something like a Pod, you are more locked into the sound you originally recorded. Of course you can always re-amp I suppose... but, plugins are easier and a lot less time consuming. 🎸🎸🎸
what where you running the pod go into ?
We have the same name and same music tastes... it's confirmed People named Ryan Bruce are pretty cool
Wtf
@@AndyDuckala imagine not being named Ryan Bruce, cringe
I will have one, oh yes, I will definitely have one
I'd like to hear some more clean tones. The high end on cleans sounds more digital than the gain tones. Has to be a way to make them more realistic.
i dont understand how he is getting such good tones right away without IR's i have my floor plugged into a power cab and with ir's and a lot of work i can get close. unless its just how it sounds direct in. im not sure.
It's just how it sounds directly in. And also mixed a little when he was editing it
Tone is in your hands, believe me when is say that.
I didn’t like the look of the helix because of its price and complexity. but I could see myself using this. Does anyone know if it has a preset like a Marshall plexi for when you want to make your own presets?

"oh yeah, that's my batch" lol
Was that a Dustin Kensrue Patch????
Just like HXFX with built-in amp modelling
I love mine but I often run out of memory when creating presets.
Pod Go vs HD500X vs Firehawk FX.
What do you think? I've never owned a multi-effects unit.
The pod go is the newest tecnology, the pod hd and firehawk are a step down for what i've researched
The Pod Go is head and shoulders above those units, sonically the Pod Go is as good as almost every modelling unit available today....
Pod Go bro!
How would this sound for fx only in 4cm in a tube amp?
Been waiting for this......
I am inspector gadget and I approve this message
I comment a lot
If you adjust a preset , does it automatically go to the user folder as a custom tone? Or does it stay automatically saved the way you adjusted it in the presets?
No, but using the Pod Go Edit software it's easy to copy a factory preset the user folder, rename it and tweak it.
4:47 Justified Black Eye!! Such a sick riff 🤘
Genial video muchas gracias...very cool video thanks ;)
Any audio gaps when changing presets?
I think having Snapshots solves those problems.
Rad shirt. Do a video on the Jane Doe tone.
JUSTIFIED BLACK EYES!!!
Yeah Fluff!, No Use For A Name! ❤
does it work with the shuriken variax like the helix
No.
waiting for mine myself!
2:06 “blind6 pod go” - the second I saw you playing around menus I was done. Good review and video though! Cheers.
How do you use a pod go do you just plug it straight into a cab
It has to be amped so plug it into a combo or head unit. I have one. You're supposed to be able to use it through your PC with recording software, but I don't have any do I can't attest to that.
@@shannonjennings1454 thanks
It can do 4-Cable Method too!
@@christianmccarthy7405 No problem
How’s your day
What amp/cab are you using?
They change per preset bruh
@@mexstrat96 it still has to plug into something, the pod go doesnt have an onboard speaker, son.
@@TheJigabooWarrior its DI into the computer where its recorded. one of the main features of this thing is that you don't need an external amp
@@mexstrat96 you just too dense
@@TheJigabooWarrior what is it that is too dense about his answers?
Can you mix two amps at the same time?
No, it can only run one amp and one cab at a time....
I noticed there's a USB outlet on the back. Can this plug directly into your computer and go straight into ProTools, Garage Band, or Logic Pro, or do I still need an interface of some sort?
You can use it instead of an interface but I would still recommend using an interface as there can be latency issues when recording.
Justified Black eye!
Hello
hi
I'm kicking myself so hard for buying an hd500x last year. I spent way too much for an average old processor
But why? There was already HX Stomp?
@@b10t3rr0r yep
I remember reading a discussion about your 500x in the Line 6 forums a few years ago where guys weren't overly happy with the sound and one Italian guy chimed in about changing settings in the global eq and that made it sound awesome.
Might be worth trying to find that old thread. Just thought I'd mention it.
PS: The old video of the original 500 done by Chapman-Hindmarsh-Anderton using a Line 6 DT 25 with the 500 is/was super cool.
PSS: Holy s*&% that was 9 years ago!!!! Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/I9E2eXXwW28/v-deo.html
