    Great video and a splendid recipe. I am going to try this for sure. But I can't get the charsu seasoning in the pack. Is there anything else I can use to substitute it. Blessings from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹.

    I'm from the twin island, Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 and oh yes char siu pork is a very popular dish in the restaurants. Glad for this recipe because I don't eat pork and also I'll be using maple syrup instead of honey due to the fact that I don't cook nor bake with it.

      One thing also Candy is , I'm not sure if this is typo, but the sauce for the glaze, you list the dark soy sauce, and on the video , you say to use the light soy sauce. Just checking , but which one should I use? Its still delicious though!

    I continue to enjoy your cooking videos. Keep up the good work. I cook my chicken with the same ingredients you used. I normally can’t find Char Siu Seasoning in my regular stores so I use a couple of drops of “Red Food Coloring” instead to give the chicken that Red Color seen on Char Siu recipe.

      Hi dear thank you so much appreciate it . To your question I don't think I'm familiar with the hacks halal red chicken. But you can give this one a try and see if the taste is similar. This one has a Chinese taste Like the red pork that sells at the chinses restaurants.

    Great looking chicken! What if you are allergic to oysters and other crustaceans, what can one substitute for the oyster sauce?

      I am as well, and I use hoisin sauce in place of the oyster sauce and it works perfectly, for every dis requiring oyster sauce, albeit, hoisin is a little sweeter so take that into consideration for balance.

    Everybody now listen up! I just tried this recipe tonight (marinated the chicken overnight), and enjoyed the most flavorful, tender, and moist chicken ever!! Do not deviate from this excellent recipe. Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm going to try this on pork shoulder next!

      That's the char siu seasoning powder.... it's pink and will give the chicken the red colour.

      You sure can but the steak might have to be cooked for either a longer or shorter time depending on how you like your steak.

    I went and buy the char siu but its not a powder. I got it in the bottle like a Jam consistency but the same name. Is that what gives you the reddish color?

    Hi Candy, 👋, thanks for this yummy recipe, BUT if we don't have the ready packet char Sui packet how can we replace the ingredients.

      Hey I'm sorry but you have to get some kind of char siu seasoning whether it's the paste of the seasoning packet if you don't have any of those then it won't be called char siu anymore. You can do a simple chinese roast chicken without it. just marinate the chicken with the other ingredients and then roast it the next day for one hour on 400°F you don't have to base it every 10 mins just allow it to cook for 1 hour straight.

      You can leave out the wine and becareful with the regular soy sauce because it's salty.

    My kids love char scui but in India we don't cook in the oven we cook on the stove top can you please show this being done in the pan
