This particular piece is from a recording known as Art Rosenbaum's, "The art of field recording." If my memory serves me correctly, it was originally recorded in a general store/post office in the heart of America. A simple UA-cam search of Brett Hare "I'm Dying Mother" should yield you the original. My understanding is that it's the story of a man dying from a illness as evidenced by the line about a fever. A song encompassing the common trope about the regrets of a life poorly lived. You should most certainly give it a go, and listen to Clifton Hicks version as well. Thanks for the comment!
Brother this is a beautiful piece, is there a story behind it we should be aware of?
