    I always prefer to use OEM assemblies than TYC or any other aftermarket when doing retrofits/halos/custom builds, always heard the housings are better on OEM thicker like you said and the lens better quality and will not get yellowing lenses in the future, but yes it will always come down to how your budget is.

    I would like to point out two things with these headlights. I do love these, I've had them for almost three years in my 2012 Ram 1500 laramie longhorn edition and I think they look so much better than stock - HOWEVER - when I recieved the lights, I discovered some marks in the chrome on the left headlight in the upper left corner. I looked at it and discovered that this was caused by the plastic pressing towards the chrome. Now while I did find this a bit annoying, I decided not to hassle with the return because I live in Sweden. HOWEVER - as time went on - the little scuffmark in the chrome just became longer and longer. If anyone is curious - let me know and I can send you a picture of what it looks like. I might even be able to find a picture of what it first looked like when I had just recieved the lights. I don't know if there have been other issues similar to this with these lights, but thought it was worth mentioning.
    The other thing is that - there is condensation buildup all along the amber turnsignals - but ONLY during rain. I've driven the truck through fog, snow and rain - and if it's raining - there will be condensation all along the turnsignal - but only limited to the section of the turnsignal - almost a line-like limit. It has been like this since installed. Again - I don't know if this was just with my headlights specifically or if others have had or have this problem.
    I'd never discourage anyone from getting these - especially not with the price-difference. I love them, I have a couple of months ago thrown in a HID-conversion for the projectors and had I known back then how amazing HID is and how much of a difference it makes, I would have gotten the HID-kit along with this - which I recommend anyone considering these lights to do.

    Purchased a pair of TYC Projectors for my 16 ram. Horrible quality problems. Within 1 month both units started to leak in water from the top and retain it in the bottom. Had to drill holes in the bottom of the clear plastic to keep water draining. The projector cutoff, while sharp, is badly cut. Both head lights are skewed up to the left side and down to the right side, also the cutoff is not perfectly straight. When properly aligned both headlight beams match on the left side but have about a 1 foot gap (Depending on distance) on the right side. I will be hunting down a pair of OEM Mopar headlights for my truck in hopes they are of higher quality. Incredibly dissatisfied with the TYCs.

      I have a moisture in my passenger side headlight. Did you notice his comment about the vents on the OEM? If the cap is pressed too tightly it won't vent moisture properly. I am going to try that before replacing anything.

    Hi, how do I tell which lights will fit and work on my '12 Ram 1500 4x4. Everyone I see on UA-cam demonstrating and installing projector lights all they say "This will NOT work if you have factory projectors" just got the truck it has aftermarket projectors that are extremely terrible, so I need to upgrade but don't know which way to go. I'm not sure if it had factory projectors or plain reflectors..
    Thanks I dont want to buy something that won't work for my truck.

    • @RetroShopLights

      These will fit, using our adapters. Your 12 would not have come from the factory with OEM projectors (as those didn't hit the market until '13)

    Nice looking headlight. Will Putco Nite lux or similar led replacement bulbs fit in the TYC light socket space? They are tight on the oem headlights.

    I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 ST package...it has a single headlight bulb, it is a base model...2 quick questions...(1.) could I simply upgrade to a 2011-2012 quad headlight assembly plug and play with factory wiring, (2.) do you have a kit that will allow me to run OEM projector headlight assemblies? Thanks in advance, looks like you make some quality products. 👍🏼

    • @deviantarsenal

      You can change your headlights to the quads without any adapter. Simply switch em, plug and play. If you want the OEM projector headlights, you'll have to buy the $135 adapter from The Retro Shop before installing the protectors.

    Are you hearing anyone complaining about yellowing on the TYC's? I don't see it on any of the OEM projectors I see in the wild but not sure about the TYC's.

    • @RetroShopLights
      @RetroShopLights  5 років тому

      Few and far between, but yes - I have heard a few people mention that the clear coat isn't lasting as long on the TYC models.

  • @alecwright6344
    @alecwright6344 6 років тому

    Yeah I have the tyc headlights just like in the video. You guys know if there’s a way to change the cutoff line. I assume most cutoff lines should be pretty much horizontal. Well on these from left to right they go horizontal, then diagonally up and then horizontal again. Kinda feel like I can barely see the left side of the road.

    • @RetroShopLights
      @RetroShopLights  6 років тому

      That step you are seeing is inherent to a projector's design. You can't "easily" modify that, nor would you truly want to, I'd start with checking your aim. They may be too low currently.
