As a heavily tattooed Christian woman, if you don’t have tattoos you don’t need to tell me your excuses or what you would get. You don’t want them, cool. I did, so I have them. It’s no more complicated than that.
I used to hate tattoos and the first time I saw face tattoos I thought it was strange but hearing the stories behind from thoughtful people softened me up to them. Shane specifically, just talking about his background and his journey and wanting to see the physical representation of it every time he sees himself is something I appreciate. I think they’re alright, we don’t need to be offended by it.
Yup Ive seen Asian women as you are or mabey you're Latina or Asian mestizo mixed. I've seen female Asians female mestizas that has tattoos all over their female feminine body and they look beautiful but not all women and not all men can look good also you must put on meaningful quotes especially as a Christian for Christ.
A Pints video clip about tattoos? Golly, I think I'm about to see the most reasonable comments section of all time, one filled with people on the mission of saving souls, and not on the mission of sanctimonious busybodying!
@@puritanbob I didn’t expect a comment like this. Typically we prefer comfy lies that justify our actions/inactions. I grew up around biker gang culture. But those rugged men and women are in many ways no different than the suburban mom fighting for happiness through clinging to youthful beauty. It’s all oriented around a denial of our true identity as children of God and replacing it with something much less than God intended.
Tattoos are a form of art. They could be coping for some but that’s art in general. It has many expressions and meanings and each tattoo has a different purpose from person to person. For one person its vanity, the next its insecurity, another a satanic devotion, for those like Coptic Christian’s it’s a part of their culture and was used to protect them against being kidnapped by Muslims and in modern day is required to enter their churches in Egypt for security (this one so clearly doesn’t fit your definition), many others get them as tributes to lost loved ones or they just appreciate the art. I would say the vanity exists but you can’t for sure say it makes up the majority without hearing from the person. Botox in contrast is explicitly vain, their is no art to it or other purpose, there’s no other purpose to it except to attempt to reverse aging, it is no where near as varied and artful as tattoos. Hormone replacement therapy is possibly the take I have to disagree with the most here since it has real health effects and is hardly vanity in the slightest. Especially since testosterone rates have been on decline I can see absolutely nothing wrong with men substituting their declining testosterone to improve their health. I don’t think your critique here is some kind of hard truth people don’t like, I think it’s a conflation of three very different things, and a complete misunderstanding on why they are taken, with exception of Botox and with a slight caveat that some people who get tattoos and some tattoos themselves are vain. God bless
@ I did say “save the rare exception.” I appreciate your comments. My take was more a commentary on American culture so most of your examples do not apply. Quick question. Do you think 60 year old dudes taking T and having a S drive of a 20 year old is a good idea? That’s a consequence of the T replacement so called treatment. In the end all of these (save rare exception) are a rejection and denial of the gifts we were given, flawed attempts to discover our true identity: child of god.
I don't get the people that call themselves christian yet look down on others as if they're better. Remember when Jesus went to the people that the holier then thou crowed looked down upon. Pretty much everyone judges others in someway but maybe try not to believe yourself better or more pious than them. Besides looks can be deceiving some of the worst crooks wear a suit and tie, clean cut, and by all appearances you would think what a nice young man.

I was never able to see the fascination with tattoos. I don’t really see the point. I don’t want drawings on my body. I was just never into it. I don’t have any tattoos at all, not even one.
I love these fellas, and I know Matt has a lot of tattooed friends on the show. But to offer another perspective… Once you get a tattoo, you can never be truly naked again. The truly human body is made of flesh, and Christ assumed flesh to save us. Your skin is a beautiful thing and something to be cared for. I’d like to ask Matt if it’s hypocritical to support tattoos yet be opposed to Botox.
That’s a good point. In my opinion if it matters lol is that cosmetic Botox is usually done for purely vain reasons, like appearing attractive to others or even yourself, and then tattoos can be done for other reasons like marking a special moment or showing commitment to something (hopefully something worth committing too) but I’m down for other perspectives
Shane's enthusiastic about his tattoos. I like mine, too. The two I have that I thought about for years before I inked them. The cardinal virtues and early Christian cross and another that says Amor fati love all fates.
Tattoos are such a self destructive thing. We all know Popeye had a tattoo of an anchor on his arm and that many drunken sailors or soldiers stumbled into dirty tattoo parlors to have something inked onto their arms as a souvenir they when sober regretted. The tattoo mocked them in their own stupidity. Peer pressure is often dangerous and regrettable. In my opinion tatoos are skanky, angry, self loathing and very ugly. They sag and look like deflated balloons with age and make it hard for doctirs yo find vribs if you end up in hospital. Tattoos on the face and neck make a person unemployable and untrustworthy because they are call signs that yell helter skelter. They should be removed bia via laser. For that reason the Hebrews held as law; 'You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.' Leviticus 19:28
Do you still follow kosher dietary laws as a Christian ? Are you circumcised like the old testament says? Or do you pick which ones you want to follow?
You do realize that tattoos as we know them in modern times we’re not present in biblical ones ?? It’s more an expression of markings upon the body & on top of that’s from the Old Testament then on top of that it’s from Leviticus which is just a swath of rules for the Israelites. These guidelines were levied to set them apart from the neighboring tribes and nations that performed ritualistic scarring or marking for the dead, among other practices. a swath of rules for the Israelites……a better argument would’ve been defacing gods temple since you are in the Christian sense made in gods image but even then it’s ridiculous……it’s like Christians either willfully don’t know their own history, context, & books or like to pick n choose what parts to say And how to say them to fit what narrative they believe to be true
