I think the bigger artists are upset because they followed rules for so long and it isn't fair that others didnt follow those rules like they had to. Like a form of jealously
i agree 100%. like you shouldn’t be able to tattoo without “paying their dues” as in being tortured by an apprenticeship. you don’t need one to be a great tattoo artist
Artist tent to have this Big ego that doesnt really matter at all, because the only thing that matters is how happy is the client and the service and the lvl of profesionalism You provide, non of that have to do with how much of a snob You are.....
I’ve noticed with the copying thing that a lot of artists see whoever copied them getting some sort of recognition and they feel “thats mine. I want that.” Everyone so caught up in social media likes and recognition. Old tattooers used to send each other stencils and now everybody is upset because someone did “something similar and I invented that” big tattitudes these days.

I meet a dude waiting in line for a concert like 15 yeara ago. He didn't have legs and his sign said" give me money or I'll kick you in the face". Definitely gave him money and probably one of my fav signs. I have a pic to prove it lol

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Ben years ago in Jersey when I was apprenticing for piercing. Seeing how much he has grown after leaving that shop makes me so stoked. So great to see him thriving.

If there isnt one already, id love to see a discussion surrounding recovery and what that looked like for you and or your peers and how tattooing came into play. I think its more than relevant in the industry, and its really inspiring for people like me in early recovery. Love the content, stay up gents.

Totally agree with the blackout statement. I think it should be for a blast over / cover up. I think you can get something super cool first and then do the blast over.
On the topic of copying someone’s work, I had this done to me and the artist didn’t tell me it was a copy, when I came across the artwork online I found the artist, I sent him a mail asking “hey is this your work? I really like it” And he said “yeah it’s mine, please don’t copy it, be inspired by it” and I thought that was a really nice way to go about it. still too late as I now have a copy of his art work on my leg but that’s down to the artist who copied it and never said anything to me…I still got a good tattoo though..it’s just not as original as I had hoped for..

Hearing Ben’s pricing makes me feel better about my pricing and not feeling bad about what my prices are 💯 I charge 150 an hr and I’ll feel bad charging correctly when we tattooed for 8 hours because I know times are tough
theres nothing to feel bad for when you put years of time of your life into becoming an expert in something and then selling that expertise to people who want it

I think it’s good for artist to copy something’s. Not exact but copy things to help grow. In music everyone copy’s and turns it into something new. It’s how we grow

Copying is the base to understand many things. But only when you draw!!! When you tattoo you try to mix all these influences you got along the years and create something personnal

Just a nobody collector here but imho copying without credit is bullshit. Like an artist that claims something as original and they totally just stole the artwork.
I think the ultimate example that I'm sure most peole have seen is the Riddler chest piece that the artist tattooed the nipple from the original onto the new canvas' arm i think it was.
Lol with panhandling, I usually have Christian people going on their rants for about.. 30mins 🫠 Getting paid to listen to Christians talk about Christianity... Smh
